WHY TIDELINE

Knowing when high tide is only gets you part of the way. Tideline answers the question that actually matters on the water: what is it doing right now, and what will it be doing when I get there. Tides, currents, swell, wind, and beach hazards in one place, with every number labeled with where it came from and how far away.

NOAA-POWERED ACCURACY

Every tide and current prediction comes directly from NOAA's Tides and Currents service, the official source for US tide predictions. Wave and sea temperature data comes from the NOAA National Data Buoy Center, and beach hazards from the National Weather Service. No third-party guesswork, and every card names the station or buoy it read.

DESIGNED FOR THE WATER

Whether you're timing an inlet, planning a fishing trip, checking the surf, launching a kayak, or walking the flats at low water, Tideline shows you what you need to know quickly and tells you honestly where it came from.

PRIVACY

Tideline doesn't collect your data. Location stays on your device and is used only to find the nearest NOAA station. There are no accounts, no tracking, and no analytics.

Built in Maine by one person, for anglers, boaters, and surfers.

Data from NOAA Tides & Currents, the National Weather Service, and the NOAA National Data Buoy Center. Tideline is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by NOAA.

Tide and current predictions are for general planning. Always consult official NOAA charts and local authorities for navigation.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.3 — 2026-08-17

New in Tideline Pro

Custom Alerts. Set your own line and get told when the water crosses it: tide height, wave height, wind speed, or water temperature. You can also be told a set time before or after high and low tide, or before the current turns to flood or ebb. Up to 10 alerts across your saved locations.

Tap any day in the forecast to open its full tide curve, out to 30 days. Drag across the chart to read the predicted height at any hour, not just the high and low times.

New for everyone

Tomorrow's full tide chart is included. Tap tomorrow in the forecast and drag across the curve to see what the water is doing at any hour.

Hide the cards you don't use. Conditions, beach hazards, currents, swell, sun and moon, and best fishing times can each be switched off in Settings. Tide height, the chart, and today's highs and lows always stay.

A map button in the location picker, so browsing stations by where they are is easier to find.

Fixed

Searching a beach or harbor by name now searches every NOAA station instead of a short list, so places like Fort Popham turn up properly.

Better contrast in low light. Text on the lower part of the screen was washing out against the background.

Apple Watch: the tide chart no longer draws flat after the app has been in the background, and conditions refresh when you raise your wrist rather than waiting for a relaunch.

Rip current risk and National Weather Service beach warnings are unchanged and stay available to everyone.

### 2.2 — 2026-08-11

### 2.1 — 2026-08-05

TIDAL CURRENTS

See which way the water is running, how fast, and when it turns. Tideline now shows the nearest NOAA current prediction station's flood and ebb speed, flow direction, and a countdown to the next slack water.

Currents appear wherever NOAA publishes predictions nearby, which covers inlets, channels, rivers, and harbor entrances. Open stretches of coast usually have no current station, so the card only appears where there's real data for it.

12-MONTH TIDE TABLE

Every high and low for the year ahead, browsable by month, with heights and times in the station's own time zone. Included with Tideline Pro.

ALSO IN THIS UPDATE

New notes in Settings explain where the current and beach hazard data comes from, and what each one does and doesn't cover.

### 2.0.1 — 2026-08-03

Your widget now follows the location you've set in the app. Change it once and your home and lock screen widgets follow. You can still pin a widget to a specific station by long-pressing it and choosing Edit Widget.
Fixed tide times on widgets set to a station in another time zone.
Apple Watch: fixed the tide chart holding its position while you read it, and the day's best fishing times now roll into tomorrow once the last window has passed.

### 2.0 — 2026-08-01

Tideline comes to Apple Watch.

A complete marine picture on your wrist. Current tide height and whether it's rising or falling, your next high and low, water temperature, swell height and period, wind, sunrise and sunset, moon phase, and the day's best fishing windows.

Tap the tide chart for a full-screen view you can drag through the day.
Watch face complications put your next tide a glance away.
Runs on its own: the watch pulls its own NOAA data, and saved forecasts stay readable when you're out of range.

New: beach hazard forecasts.

Rip current risk, breaking surf height, and surf-zone water temperature from the National Weather Service, for the beaches nearest your saved locations.
Switch on alerts for any location and get notified when rip current risk climbs.
