### 2/5 — Look elsewhere

*2026-03-16*

Probably one of the most user unfriendly GUI’s I’ve ever used. App was recommended on a training course which we all immediately downloaded. Everyone was left scratching their heads and asking how to access the relevant information. I’m sure the data is there, it’s just like toothache to find it. Even the licensing is difficult to understand. Do you need two purchases, both the stream data and to look seven days ahead. I gave up, there are a number of easier-to-use apps available.

### 2/5 — Map view issues

*2026-02-16, version 5.24*

The recent update of the app has introduced a glitch meaning you can no longer use the map view on an iPhone . Previously the app worked flawlessly.

### 2/5 — iOS 26 phone

*2026-02-07, version 5.24*

Used this for years and loved it. But now it does not work correctly on my IPhone. Cannot view currents correctly on the chart and suspect it’s linked to the way iOS scrolls between screens.

### 2/5 — Problem with indicator on tide graph

*2026-02-02, version 5.24*

When I drag the indicator to the right on the tide graph the entire tides panel slides to the right taking me back to the index page.

### 2/5 — Ruined by latest update

*2026-01-11, version 5.24*

I have regularly used this app for years, unfortunately it has been ruined by the recent update. The map UI is now unusable. Not great since I pay for the yearly licence.

### 3/5 — Loses all favourites on renewal!

*2025-12-09, version 5.23*

This is really irritating…. Can you sort this please….

### 2/5 — 2026 data incomplete

*2025-10-22, version 5.22*

Been using this app for years and generally love it, but after buying the 2026 tidal data it does not display the % interpolation between spring and neap rates of tidal streams. I’ve tried restoring the purchase, deleting and reinstalling the app and upgrading my iOS and nothing has fixed it

### 2/5 — Bug in 2026 update

*2025-10-14, version 5.22*

I can confirm I am also seeing a bug in the tide 2026 table update. Errors after 28 December 2025 in the Springs and Neaps count up/down numbers. Seen on IOS 26.0.1 on iPad Pro (2 Gen) and iPhone Air.

### 3/5 — Great, but interface is from the 60’s !

*2025-05-13*

I’ve been paying for the tidal licence since 2014. It’s a super app to use for sea-kayaking and checking tides for sea cliff rock climbing.

However… the interface is very annoying. If I don’t use it for a while it can take some time to remember where things are. The worst thing is blue text on a black background. Virtually unreadable in the tiny font size on my iPhone. In some places in the app it’s the other way round, but still unreadable. Been like this for years. I’m amazed it hasn’t been addressed 🤔. I still couldn’t do without it 🙂. So thanks Imray and the team behind this.

### 4/5 — Super appli

*2025-03-23*

### 1/5 — Latest update makes App unusable

*2024-11-05, version 5.19*

The latest update has changed the colour of the background to white, with a white line illustrating the tidal curve, hence rendering the app impossible to read in day time. When the phone switches to night time mode, the background switches to black and the white line becomes readable, this needs resolving immediately

### 1/5 — Update fault

*2024-11-05, version 5.19*

Part of the display is missing!

### 2/5 — Tide curve invisible

*2024-11-03*

What happened to the colors in the last update? The tide curve is close to invisible.

### 1/5 — Latest update fail

*2024-11-02, version 5.19*

The latest update has turned most of the tidal graph white, so the tide line is white on white - fail! Please fix.

### 4/5 — Would be great but for a poor UX

*2024-09-20*

Tide information is excellent and when you eventually figure out how to use the different location selection options that works pretty well. But as a software professional I really struggled with the UI. It’s not terribly intuitive and I suspect less tech-savvy users will struggle.

Also, tidal flows are super hard to use / sometimes don’t appear at all. Possibly just need to do more figuring out but really - apps shouldn’t be this hard to use ! C’mon Imray - your charts and books are the best and easiest for yachties, so let’s have the same in your app !

### 2/5 — Not Functional

*2024-06-18*

This will give you today’s tides, but not tomorrow’s. Date function simply doesn’t work. Somebody made this and moved on to something else, no maintenance, no updates.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Broken app

*2026-03-19, version 5.24*

Impossible to drag map to select new locations now. App used to be brilliant, but essentially not working now.

### 1/5 — Latest update doesn’t work

*2026-03-12, version 5.24*

The latest update doesn’t allow you to move around the map with IOS 26. Kinda makes it useless now.

### 1/5 — Nepp. Vorsicht Falle.

*2026-02-07*

### 1/5 — No data in 2027

*2026-02-05, version 5.24*

I purchased the Annual License for 2027 at the beginning of January. Despite that no tide information is given in the app for places outside the Uk. I have written to Support on 6th Jan and again on 2nd Feb but have received no response (not even an acknowledgement of my mail). So it seems I have completely wasted my license fee and will have to look for an alternative to Imray. This is a shame if the app worked it would be useful.

### 1/5 — Probleme mit iOS 26.2 und iPadOS 26.2

*2026-01-09*

### 1/5 — Spring Neap info panel not working

*2025-10-08, version 5.22*

It works fine up to 28 December 2025 but from 29 December 2025 onwards and into 2026 it displays gibberish. I informed the app developer a week ago but no response.

### 1/5 — Impossible

*2025-04-02, version 5.21*

To find out how to update the app each year! No clear instructions anywhere. So looking at downloading a different app one

### 1/5 — New release is terrible and full of bugs !

*2024-11-25, version 5.20*

I have used this app for many years but the new release , 5.20 , now does not work when viewing tidal atlases . The pan and zoom functionality does not work properly any more making it very difficult to look at tidal flow

### 1/5 — Graphics mess

*2024-11-10, version 5.19*

Since buying 2025 tidal data the tidal curve shows white on white as others have described.
Needs fixing asap.

### 1/5 — Update disaster

*2024-11-08, version 5.19*

As everyone else says the latest update makes it unreadable. Why?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-07-14, version 5.22*

Use on commercial fishing boat very accurate handy for tidal moorings

### 5/5 — Très pratique

*2024-11-16*

Simple, sobre, intuitif, impeccable !

### 5/5 — Trust worthy

*2024-10-01*

I keep consuming this app at least 5years and it is always providing accurate tide in actual real environment. I understand it covers very limited spots in the world but I satisfy since one of the spot is located my area.

### 5/5 — Superb

*2024-04-04*

This is one of the few apps where it’s worth making in-app (inexpensive) purchases. Contains a wealth of information far beyond basic tide tables that has been of immense help to my passage planning around the UK over the last 6 seasons. Very easily used by those who can be bothered to make the slight effort required to understand how to use the wide variety of features.

### 5/5 — Réabonnement

*2023-07-31*

Bien dommage !

### 5/5 — My first reference point for Tides and Tidal Streams

*2023-04-30, version 5.15*

An excellent app for tides and currents. Well worth the few pounds it cosst each year and my first reference point for passage planning.

### 5/5 — Excellent tide App, I’ve used it for several years

*2022-12-26*

I just spotted to negative reviews here after recommending this app to a friend. I use this app for navigating my 2.3m draft fin keel yacht around the East Coast, it’s a critical part of my navigation procedure and wouldn’t be without out. I also use it daily for paddle boarding in the Thames Estuary and river Crouch/Roach area, again, I wouldn’t be without it in this shallow and highly tidal area. I also use it when away elsewhere in the UK surfing, paddleboarding and sailing. Two years ago sailing from the Pool to the Crouch it was the perfect tide app for my navigation. This is an excellent app and if you need a detailed and comprehensive tidal app then this is the one I recommend. It is easy to use, comprehensive, reliable and I will continue to subscribe to it for as many years as I sail, paddle and surf in the UK’s tidal waters.

### 5/5 — Worth every penny

*2022-07-28*

Purchased app just before a trip to Orkney and Shetland. I started using it to check on my planning but ended up using exclusively. It proved invaluable dealing with the strong currents especially when moving around the Orkney Isles and crossing the Pentland Firth

### 5/5 — Powerful and easy to use - thank you

*2021-03-23*

Functionality is very useful. A detailed tide analysis, with flows, to support planning. This is all available quickly and with a good interface. Exporting supports further planning. Highly rated.

Although it costs a little to access the full functionality I guess the underlying data also costs, and Imray need to make a return to maintain and develop the app.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for your review and apologies for the delayed response. We do indeed have to pay for the underlying data but this data allows us to do calculations within the app and then, depending upon licences, allows access for our customers to up to two years of tidal data with offline access. Hopefully this is worth the comparatively small annual cost to everyone.

### 5/5 — Very useful tidal planner

*2020-09-25*

I have used this app since 2014, paying for the full yearly data as it becomes available and accepting the fact that predictions are predictions and can be slightly different from actual live data on the day.

I use it in many ways, for instance, advising non-commercial vessels (such as sail training craft) prior to their visiting our small port and supplying local charities with advanced tidal information for their future plans involving maritime activities.

Being able to work with data at least a year in advance is most useful.

Keep up the good work !!

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for your positive review, we are glad you are enjoying Tides Planner!
