  Last year, Zhou Ye forgot their anniversary. A gas-station rose and a re-labeled Valentine's chocolate box. He thought she didn't notice.

  Saturday, 9 AM. Lin Wan heads out for "groceries" and leaves Zhou Ye with one small job: tidy up before evening. "Three hours. Make it shine, or tonight you're in trouble."
