The match-three gameplay is challenging and well designed, which is enjoyable, and I appreciate the effort to include customization options. However, there are some major drawbacks. First, the game’s balance could use work. After a certain point, it’s impossible to progress without using every tool and bonus you’ve saved up. The challenges stop being fun and instead seem tailored to force you into spending money on in-game boosters, (which quickly drains the fun or your funds). I’ve played similar tile-matching games and reached high levels without feeling “stuck” in this way. Ads are another big issue. Not only do you have to watch ads to unlock colors and other features, but even the $5.99 price doesn’t eliminate all of them, which feels unreasonable. There’s also a distracting ad banner at the bottom of the screen that makes it hard to focus on the gameplay itself. Tilescapes has potential, but as it is, the game feels a bit like it prioritizes profit over player experience. A bit more attention to fairness in level design and an option to fully remove ads could make a big difference for players like me, who enjoy a challenge but don’t want to feel forced into extra spending. ### 5/5 — Much better than zen match *2024-09-26, version 5.0* This game is not inflating the cost of its in app purchases as zen does! Tilescapes is just as fun except that even if you’re down to zero lives and zero coins, you can come back the next day start out with five lives build your self I’ve come from zero lives to infinity lives +380 coins This game gives you chances to resume a game after watching an ad you can replenish coins also by watching an ad so you never have to quit the game and delete it. Finally! a game that I have never spent any money on. I just watch ads when I need extra coins or when I need to resume a game. It’s really fun guys and the graphics are beautiful! ### 5/5 — So many things to like about this game *2024-03-07* I started out playing Zen match, but there were so many in app purchases you couldn’t move forward in the game without buying coins plus I would choose something for $2.99 and yet get charged $5.99. After a while, it was impossible to move up in the levels without spending money. They were far too many guesses necessary to make a match you run out of lives crazy fast. Tile scape on the other hand is truly relaxing what I really love about it is that the frustration level stays down because each level has a super easy game previous to the harder one so you have a higher success rate more relaxation. Additionally, you can watch a video to get more coins that was never an option in the other game. I totally quit and match because it was such a frustrating game. I deleted it, but I think I can stick with tile scape. Obviously the ads are annoying so it’s worth it to me to pay six dollars in order to have an ad free experience forever.
