### 2/5 — Not User Friendly

*2025-08-02, version 1.0.88*

I like the function of the Tilt app but many issues exist. First of all, you must be in the range of the Tilt Meter to look at all the data, otherwise you have to copy it to an Excel spreadsheet. Once it is in the spreadsheet, it is impossible to edit. Let’s say you didn’t get the Tilt started on time but you know the original gravity. Sorry, you can’t change it. If you try to add or delete readings from the data sheet it gives erroneous answers in the report page. If you edit data, you have to save it before you can go back to the report page instead of being able to observe the results on the report page and reverse them. Bluetooth range is supposed to be up to 25 feet. I have to be within 5 feet of my fermenter for it to work. This app needs considerable revisions in order to work for most home brewers!

### 2/5 — App Unstable with Multiple Tilt Devices

*2022-05-13, version 1.0.37*

I love the product. Loved it so much that I bought a second tilt device for when I have more than one fermentation going simultaneously. I have a spare iPhone running as a dedicated logging device. The app now crashes roughly every other day. I have to check in on the logging device and restart the app.

Also. The instructions for setting up your own cloud service on the website are not the same as those on the associated Google doc. It’s very unprofessional and easily fixed.

### 3/5 — Needs work

*2021-02-07, version 1.0.35*

Over a year in and copy and paste still doesn’t work. Supper frustrating if you want to use cloud logging.

Calibrating is also buggy. It randomly adds points to your uncalibrated SG. It’s usually fixed by deleting it a couple times and starting over, but again, frustrating!

I’m running the latest release as of 2/7/2021 on an iPhone 12 pro.

Worth having but it needs work.

### 3/5 — Super useful but limited

*2021-01-23, version 1.0.35*

The logging features are great and accurate. However, I would love to be able to have it send me an alert once my SG reaches a certain point (so I know when to rack to secondary or to change my fermentation temperature) and when it levels out (so i know if fermentation has stalled)

### 2/5 — Won’t fit

*2020-12-06, version 1.0.35*

Well just be aware this device will not fit in a gallon jug which pretty much defeats the point unless you doing large quantity fermentation in larger containers.

### 3/5 — Ok

*2019-12-08*

Still pretty basic. Would like a trend on the app versus the google and emails links I get. Pretty cumbersome, never end up looking at them. I keep an active note on the phone and I type the numbers. Google sheets is not really a phone app.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback! I agree and we are working to add a trend or sparkline directly into the app.

Regarding the app not starting up, for some reason this issue wasn’t showing up on our testing platform, we have released a fix as of today, April 24.

### 2/5 — I am lazy so help me out

*2019-05-15, version 1.0.17*

I am not sure why I can’t view the data log from within the app. I can only see current device status. This is a big inconvenience for me, and a weakness of the app that I hope can be corrected. The log, which I must email to myself (?who wants that) only shows my log in points, and does not log at the intervals specified. This too is a real downer for me. Otherwise very happy with tilt device.

### 3/5 — Great concept. Still a few kinks to work out

*2019-02-20, version 1.0.11*

First off: I LOVE data. Being able to watch my fermentation, know where I’m at in the process, and automagically know my ABV without having to take samples constantly is AWESOME! Kudos to the team that put this together!
That said, I believe there a still a “use ability” kinks you could (and should) smooth out:

1) API cloud keys are LONG and easily mistyped. I should be able to paste the string in the app (that I just copied from my browser on the same device). I should never have to type that string. Ever.
The fact that I can’t paste in to a field in the app is extremely frustrating.

2) this gripe is a little more difficult to implement. It would be great if you could add a small amount of writable RAM to the Tilt Hydrometer device and enable two way interaction between the app and the device. The RAM would then enable the app to write calibration points in memory so that if an app device crashed another could be brought in to continue the session.
Real world example from my current session: I was using a Fire Tablet mounted by my fermenter to log to my brew session on Brewer’s Friend. The Fire tablet decided to die and I brought in an old iPhone to replace it. It picked up the tilt and started logging to the session with no issues, but my readings are skewed now because it didn’t do the calibration.

All in all a great device that has made my brewing experience so much better! A few tweaks and it’ll be epic!

### 3/5 — Pretty cool product

*2019-01-24, version 1.0.11*

Very cool to watch fermentation. Only gripe would be that when you attempt to go back from the chart/data sheets to the app interface on iPad, you automatically get sent to google docs website. Currently unable to switch back to interface.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Needs a fix

*2025-06-23, version 1.0.88*

View doesn’t allow you to go from report to chart on iOS devices

### 1/5 — Hardware is nice, app is junk

*2024-03-10, version 1.0.88*

Buggy and cludgy. Try to paste a URL in the 3rd party cloud logging and you’ll understand what I mean. The company needs to invest in the app or get out of the business.

### 1/5 — Great Concept, hardware, app broken with newer Os version

*2023-12-19, version 1.0.88*

UPDATE: Under iOS17 you can no longer paste URLs into the cloud URL fields. Developers appear have abandoned this app which is sad considering it's a good product. Time to sell my 3 and find something new because the heart of this product is the app and it's broken.

This is a great product with well made hardware. It even works fairly well through my stainless SS Brewtech fermenters BUT the app has not been updated in over a year and there are so many bugs now it's a frustrating experience at this point and I'm considering other options because reliability is important and the developers of this app have mostly abandoned it the last 10 months at least.

### 1/5 — Very buggy

*2022-01-29, version 1.0.37*

Can’t get cloud service set up because I keep getting half of a window to enter information in. Also can’t seem to get Copy/Paste to work. This app is crap.

### 1/5 — Can’t get the developer to respond to an inquiry

*2020-12-06, version 1.0.35*

I don’t mind that there’s a bug or two. What I do mind is when I send an email and I’m ignored, then I send a follow up and I’m ignored again, then I send a second follow up and still haven’t had my concern addressed. I get it. You’re busy. I can see a day or two going by without being able to answer a concern but seven days without acknowledging my message is unacceptable in today’s Information Age. Just tell me you acknowledge you received my message(s)... if there’s no fix for my issue I understand.

### 1/5 — Great product, lousy app

*2020-09-23, version 1.0.20*

I love the Tilt, great to get a clear sense of what is going on in a brew and when it is really done. However, the app isn't any where near the same level. No help to guide through basic use like calibration. But the worst is the total reliance on "cloud" services. Supposedly it supports csv files locally, however it doesn't participate in file sharing so the is no way to get the files that it saves. There's an icon indicating "share" but clicking on it doesn't do anything. To collect data I had to write my own app for my desktop /tablet PC. I have no interest in any cloud service let alone a Google provided one.

### 1/5 — App doesn’t log.

*2020-08-25, version 1.0.20*

Have had problems with three beers now. It’ll log for the first day fine but then won’t save to the cloud afterwards. Tried redownloading the app and it works again but I lose everything that was saved prior.

### 1/5 — BEWARE Will not work on 9.3.5 device

*2020-01-05, version 1.0.20*

Although the specs say the app will work on anything 9.3 or higher, I can not get it to work on my iPad running 9.3.5.

I have ensured that Bluetooth and location services is on. The Tilt connects to another iOS device and Android device without issue.

I also don't see a reason why locations needs to be activated to log my own beers, but that is not a technical issue.

### 1/5 — Requires location services

*2019-02-16, version 1.0.11*

I rarely have location services on since it seems to kill my battery. Annoyed that a Bluetooth device that isn’t likely to move at all requires me to turn it on. Plus, none of your business where I brew.
Just got last night and haven’t played around too much with it yet, but doesn’t seem to graph your data points in the app, but you can export them (actually have to export to really see them). Seems like I should be able to graph it out right in the app or at least easily view them. Device seems to work well, but app feels pretty basic at this point.

### 5/5 — Game Changer

*2026-05-25, version 1.0.88*

I love this thing. I think it’s an incredibly clever appplication of physics, and I love that I don’t have to waste any beer to determine the density. I would recommend it to any home brewer.

### 5/5 — Tilt Support

*2024-07-17, version 1.0.88*

I needed help with a Raspberry Pi problem. Noah was more than willing to help me out with a software problem that turned out to be a problem with my computer and not his programming. Kudos

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2024-02-24, version 1.0.88*

I love the app but I wish it had a widget for an easy view of the app progression to display the current measurements temps and ABV percentage. Is this available for the Apple Watch ?

### 5/5 — Great tool

*2019-05-05, version 1.0.17*

Makes life sooooo much easier. I use it with the raspberry pi and love the logging feature. The only thing I would like to see is to be able to select less frequent logging times. I currently have it set to 60 minutes but don’t need it that often would like to be able to set it to as much as 12 hours.

### 4/5 — Where is the log saved?

*2024-05-19, version 1.0.88*

The app seems pretty good, but where is the file saved when device logging is turned on? I can't find it on my phone, and when I try to email it to myself, the send button is greyed out.

### 4/5 — Promising, but needs TiltPi Support

*2020-09-05, version 1.0.20*

The app assumes you will only connect via Bluetooth. If you are running their TiltPi and cloud clogging, the the app becomes a lot less valuable.

It would be great to still use the app, do calibrations, etc and then connect to the TiltPi instead of rely on Bluetooth only connections.

Especially since I’m using multiple stainless steel Unitanks, it’s nearly impossible to connect to unless I’m right next to. My TiltPi has no issues connecting since it’s wired up right next to them.

And yes I realize I can connect to the TiltPi via Brewfather and web browser, etc, but that makes this app pretty useless.

### 4/5 — Works good overall

*2020-05-23, version 1.0.20*

Just a couple of minor issues. When clicking on View Cloud within app there’s no way to get back to Tilt w/o killing app and restarting.

Second, no way to delete csv files.

### 4/5 — Good But Could Be Great

*2019-12-22, version 1.0.20*

While not the fault of this app, the Bluetooth signals have trouble penetrating walls, freezers, and especially SS fermenters. To ensure I can reach each tilt sensor, I'm forced to use an old iPhone on my freezer, a Pi in my basement, and an iPad in another room. I've got 4 sensors now and will probably buy more, but really wish the apps could mesh their data when running multiple loggers in different areas. Basically let each app sync with other apps connected to the same wifi.

### 4/5 — Great gadget!

*2019-04-23, version 1.0.16*

Excellent concept and execution of a home brewing accessory.

However, latest update isn’t allowing app to launch and read consistently. The app will either get hung up or completely quit.

Please help!

### 4/5 — Definite improvements over original, needs temp cal

*2019-02-10, version 1.0.11*

Compared to the original Tilt app,
Like:
- much easier/intuitive to enter data for your tilt (old version always defaults to RED tilt)
- like ability to edit calibration points (vice always starting over)
- ability to adjust logging time is a plus
- doesn’t create a new log file whenever tilt app gets interrupted (old version kept creating new files)

Needs fixed:
- For some reason the temp calibration is missing, seems accurate enough, but prior version had a temp cal so seems like a useful feature
- had issues getting web logging going again after app was interrupted, changing log frequency got it un-stuck

BTW—had a circuit breaker trip during my last brew and temp dropped 12 deg, tilt let me see the problem right away and allowed me know that my yeast was still working—don’t know what I would have done without the tilt data!

Overall, love the product—keep it up!
