This app witnessed all my hard times and happy moments, provided my space where I can release thoughts in my head. It’s a useful method for capturing the gist of each day without overloading it with information. The word count allows me to go back and re-evaluate my thoughts in little blurbs, so I think it’s good feature. I wish I could use the plethora of caps I have stockpiled to respond to previous entries or add an extra one for the day. Sometimes I’ll write one prematurely (on a bad note), and the day will ultimately end well: I want to be able to record that change. Still, I’d like that second entry to be separated from the first—if you know what I’m getting at. P.S. I also wanted to say I appreciate the today vs. tomorrow option for late night writing. That was really clever. This app really encourages me to write more dairy as “time capsule” that I can use to see in the past or send to the future, exactly like what a notebook diary do, but fancier!!! There are some features that I can see the developer really put in the thought to make this app become as sufficient as a diary app can be. Some at the top of my head is character limit, not too long or too short and actually encourage me to reach the word limit. Another thing is that you can edit the day diary entry within 1 day, which I use to write my morning page in the morning and my day summary at night, and if I want to edit old time cap I have to use their in-app currency, which I can achieve through posting daily caps so apparently free but it gives a sense of you have to pay something to edit your time cap from 4 days ago. One thing I would love to see that the developer can integrate template feature so that I don’t have to copy the template from my Note app every time. ### 5/5 — Free but option to purchase if you aren’t patient *2021-08-31, version 2.7* So far loving the app. It’s so cute and it rewards you for journaling. Gets you incentivized to earn caps through daily journal. If you sign up (also free) it gives you a ton more caps which you can use to purchase future time capsules. Personally love collecting daily and saving up to be able to send a message to my future self. Well thought out, thanks for creating this app! Also, thank you for keeping it free. Ads are optional if you want to earn caps. ;) ### 5/5 — great! some suggestions... *2021-07-20* great way to enter a short log about my day. i really like the idea of how i can send a cap to the future as well. i just wish it had more options for how to describe the day. All there is is just “great day” “peaceful day” or “ bad day”. maybe they can add a “fun day” or “boring day” or “generally nice day”. and it offers great security- face ID and/or passcode. I like knowing they are private and protected. Without this app, I’d not only loose a notebook but someone would probably find it and read about my whole life. 😑Overall the best app I have, it really helps me write down all the little things and memories to cherish. Here are a few things to address: First, about "They’ve also confirmed that they have no intention of adding this through email", we've never said this in any email reply. "Exporting data" is a feature on our roadmap but not yet supported. I understand you've waited for so long. But given that the app is still designed, developed and maintained by one person, I had to make choice and implement major features first. Second, we don't charge money for editing old daily caps. You can spend some Pieces to edit a daily cap after 24 hours but Pieces are not equal to money. You've used Time Caps so long, so I'm sure that you know Pieces are a way that we introduce to encourage users to write daily caps. You can gain Pieces for writing any caps. It's true that you can purchase some Pieces with a few dollars, but it's just one of the ways earning them. In fact, most users did not purchase any pieces. Moreover, with the update, we introduced several new ways for users to gain Pieces, including weekly/monthly rewards, Piece Reward Program, etc. And meanwhile, we offered ways to help users utilize the Pieces they gained to perform some actions that they could not do in old versions, such as filling a old day, or editing a daily cap after 24 hours. Last, if this does any help, if you update to the latest version (2.5.4), you can long press the text in a cap and copy them. You don't need to spend Pieces to edit just to copy anymore. Have a good day! ### 1/5 — Restricts access to the words that you write. *2020-07-16, version 2.5.3* I really love just about everything about Time Caps except for how it doesn’t allow you to export your data as text. I’ve actually used this app for years and I’ve spent quite a bit of money to support the developers, but I’m done with waiting for an export feature. The newest update just underscores how little the developers care about giving you access to your data—they now let you edit your old entries, but they charge money for it. So you could move your entries (one by one) to a backup database, but it will not only cost you time but actual money. They’ve also confirmed that they have no intention of adding this through email. Completely ridiculous. I will definitely be checking back to see if they ever add an export as text feature, but until then I’m done with supporting this. Not being able to access text that you wrote in a journal app is insane. ### 2/5 — Testing updates *2020-10-20, version 2.5.6* Very confusing on the diary and how it’s set up and the interface when you set up that you to push the wrong button others diary are been tested and one had face life on issue that was bother the diary ( everyone had ) 🐛🐜otherwise just the interference from asking to write something in the diary 📔 ### 3/5 — Horrible devs. Horrible app. *2024-03-02* Just be aware that everything you enter in owned by them and they will make it as difficult as they possibly can to get your data out of this app. These are the types of developers that should be banned from creating these deceptive apps. Based on the other reviews, they’re done a great job of duping countless people. The only saving grace is that Apple now lets you copy any text from any image. Hahaha I bet the devs love that. Have a good day! ### 3/5 — Nice but not perfect *2022-10-08* Nice app great to get you to journal. But does have its flaws. It reminds you every night to write something and won’t let you go back and write previous days which enforces making it a habit. My least favorite thing is you have to earn the ability to send voice/pictures, and to send future ones. There’s also a word cap on your daily messages which I like because I would end up writing forever but I do wish it was just a tad bit longer. ### 3/5 — It is okay.. I do wish the in app purchases weren’t a thing though. If you really wanted to have an incredible experience, get rid of the purchases and watch a couple adds instead. I would have loved to see myself in the past, but only if you - watch adds to get gems - use gems to get capsules - use capsules to send a photo or voice recording.
