### 2/5 — Hicups

*2022-08-13*

Can use it for a couple of sessions then it freezes. I need then to delete the APP go to the App Store and reload. Nuisance when time is limited.

### 4/5 — Delay when you press play

*2021-05-14*

Really good metronome that I use every day, would be better if it started straight away though as syncing the metronome is impossible making it difficult to check tapped tempos against records etc

### 4/5 — Almost 5 stars….

*2021-05-13, version 2.21*

Great app, the speed trainer is excellent for daily practice.

A suggestion for the developer; have the app remember the last setting for each trainer mode - currently it resets to 60 - 120 @5 minutes whenever I turn off, or use another mode. This would be 5 stars for me then!

### 3/5 — Nice metronome, timer doesn’t pause correctly

*2021-03-06*

Hi, I can’t seem to figure out how to cause the timer to pause and resume without resetting the timer to the original time. I often will pause temporarily during an exercise and want to start where I left off. It would be nice if countdown timer were larger in size, to make it easier to see. I also agree with request to allow the app to
go into landscape on an iPhone.

### 4/5 — Drummer’s Review

*2021-02-04*

For me, this metronome app is almost there - it’s very close.

Back in the day, I had an Alesis HR16 which I programmed in steps so I could have a click starting slow and moving up in increments to a target speed. Then it slowed down back to the start speed. I used to have to work out the steps manually and it was a hassle, but great until the HR16 died.

The step-up function in this metronome almost brings my HR16 experience back again, but there’s one problem; if I choose to create steps of ascending BPMs they can only be done in minutes. For a gradual speed-up it would be great to be able increase in 5BPM increments and at 15 second time intervals. In fact, if the whole timer system on the app had a seconds option then that would be great across the board.

The next thing which could do with improvement is the saving/editing a song process. It’s not very intuitive and if something is altered in a song a * symbol appears, but there’s nothing to prompt the user to save or discard the changes or save ‘as new’.

The final thing would be the ability to back up the settings to cloud or even locally on the device so if could be uploaded to cloud storage independently of the app.

Other than the above points, I really recommend this from a drummer’s POV. Well done Justin for creating this, I would have paid £3.99 for it so don’t be afraid to tweak it and make modest price increases when appropriate.

### 5/5 — Funktioniert einwandfrei

*2020-12-22*

Tut genau was sie soll und ist gut konfigurierbar.

### 5/5 — Multi-Useful

*2020-09-06*

With the integrated timer this utility is really multi-useful! I like using it to time by bpm chord changes. I use Justin’s chord change app too, but this is great for on the fly and allows me to control the parameters: BPM and time. Also am planning on using the trainer for scales.

### 5/5 — Does the job.

*2020-07-02*

The older reviews talk about prior versions, I can only comment on the current version as of July 2020. I’m guessing it’s been updated as some of the features apparently removed are back such as the TAP function. It appears to be a solid app that does what it’s meant to. I’ll be using it more in future for sure.

### 5/5 — Support

*2019-10-25*

Great app and supporting Justin’s worthy mission.

### 5/5 — A simple metronome

*2019-09-01*

Very handy. Nothing much to say here.

### 5/5 — Great Apps

*2019-08-08, version 2.21*

This app is innovative and awesome! I love all the different choices. Everything you need to improve your rhythm and timing to perfection.
Whoever developed this was a genius!

### 5/5 — Iphone 10

*2019-04-14*

Great app, but please, add iPhone X display size support in the feature update!

### 5/5 — Good

*2019-04-11, version 2.21*

Does all as described and works well with BodyBeat buzzer!!

### 5/5 — Metronome

*2019-04-07*

Justin rocks, a great teacher, great personality, great at explaining things and his metronome is the perfect tool to work on your timing.
Thanks Justin for all that you do and provide for me to be a better guitar player.

### 5/5 — Mr

*2019-02-21*

Hi Justin, just to say this app is really great, I have tried other apps that don’t work very well, I am a blind user, and use voice-over which is a screen reader on the iPhone you can contact Apple for more information about this but this app works really well enjoy your lessons as well thanks once again. Brian

### 5/5 — I adore the Speed Upper trainer. Thank you!!!

*2019-01-15*

Been using the Speed Upper almost exclusively for as long as I've been using this handy app. Very, very helpful for learning to speed up passages gradually. Thank you so much for designing such a useful practice tool!!!

One suggestion for future versions: When picking BPMs for the Speed Upper, I have to scroll through a list of numbers and this is a bit of a hassle as I change these often in my practice (eg. 90-120 for a minute, then 110-150 for 3 minutes, then 130-180 etc to move my speed up). Is it possible to make a keypad so I can directly type in my desired BPMs instead of seeking it through a long scroll?

Also would be a lovely bonus (but not super important) if I can stay in the Speed Upper function full time:
Right now the app main page is the metronome. From the main page there is an option for Trainers, from there I have to select the Speed Upper and pick my BPMs, then exit into the Trainers list, and then exit out to the metronome main page in order to use the BPM training.
Since I use the Speed Upper exclusively, including as a generic metronome (eg. 270-271 over 5min because the metronome only goes up to 260 BPM), I would prefer if I can just use an interface where I pick my start and end BPMs and time and just hit Go, without having to go back to the metronome main page. I hope this makes sense. But not super important. I love this app anyway. Thank you!!

### 5/5 — Longer time breaks please

*2018-12-13*

Love it. Just what I needed. Learned about it from Modern Drummer Podcast.

Can we please have longer bar breaks? Up to 128, why not? 7 off is too little

### 5/5 — Super Metronome

*2018-12-07*

The training tools are just what my teacher ordered but we thought did not exist. Don’t miss this app!!!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Pointless

*2022-01-27*

Cannot be used with ultimate guitar

### 1/5 — No support

*2021-02-16*

Does not work with recent iOS version. No updates, so answer from the support.

### 1/5 — Amazing.

*2018-04-19*

I love this app, but the main feature I use it for is tap tempo. However it’s calibrated wrong, so when I tap my tempo then hit play it’s always delayed which pretty much defeats the purpose. Is anyone else having this problem? If not please fix this Justin

**Developer response:** Tap tempo is back, and much more accurate and easy to use than the old one! :) the reason it wasn't live for initial v2 release is that the old one just wasn't as good as we knew it could be. :) Hope you now dig it! J.

### 1/5 — Update ruined it

*2018-01-12*

Why change it? No tap, maximum tempo is too low (can no longer use it for uptempo stuff or for creative applications). Hate it now- change it back!

### 1/5 — Junk

*2017-12-25, version 219*

Constant bugs, shutting down constantly on iPhone 7. Speed trainer can’t be paused.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2017-11-23*

Agree with shredded guitarist, What have you done? It’s horrible put it back to how it was please!!!

### 1/5 — Love the idea. Long time user.

*2017-11-18, version 2.07*

I’ve been using this app for a LONG time. Like, long enough that I have lost track. And I love the idea. But man, this design refurb is really annoying... Still, get the app. But be prepared for a super clumsy and unattractive interface. I really wish I could have the old version back.

### 1/5 — Update is horrible

*2017-11-15*

Before the update that changed everything this was the most useful app EVER ad I would rate it 10 stars if I could
This new overhaul however has completely ruined it. Everything is now in different places, meaning we all have to relearn to use the app. Not only that but the ‘tap tempo’ feature is suddenly gone. Seriously!?
More so, the new look is ugly as hell. The old version was the best looking app I’d ever seen and now it’s just an eye sore.
Not to mention the new sounds are horrible.
Please put this back how it was before we all jump ship.

### 1/5 — I like the old one better.... :(

*2017-11-14, version 2.07*

I’m very disappointed in the new version of this app.
This new version is not able to appear in landscape form on my IPad...that is the way I use it on the piano....

But I was willing to live with that slight inconvenience....

The deal breaker for me is the loss of the “tap” feature in the old version: I used that feature all the time with my students to check their tempos while they play..... I hope you add this back into this app soon... in the meantime I’ll be looking for an app that does this... :(

### 1/5 — Last update destroyed the APP

*2017-11-10*

After the last update I no long have the pendulum style clock and have lost the horizontal view. Deleted the APP.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Excellent App.

*2025-08-09*

### 5/5 — Great for practice!

*2024-03-06, version 2.21*

The app is great and helps a lot in training for speed!

### 5/5 — 8)

*2024-02-11, version 2.21*

Thanks Justin

### 5/5 — Great value

*2023-05-13*

This app is extremely versatile. If you’re serious about your music then this is the one for you. Well worth the two bucks, American.

### 5/5 — Please allow us to run the app on M1

*2022-03-13*

It would be super useful to be able to run this app from M1 computer. Please enable it. Thanks

### 5/5 — Straightforward, solid metronome

*2022-03-04*

I am a beginner guitarist and needed a solid, no-frills metronome. This one is very easy to use and very reasonably priced. It has enough options for my needs. In his online guitar courses JustinGuitar strongly emphasises the need to practice with a metronome. I thought I had a good sense of rhythm and without that advice might have felt that a metronome was optional. Boy was I wrong! The metronome exposed just how unreliable I was. Programmes such as GarageBand have an inbuilt metronome but I find a standalone one much more useful. For example I practice my sight reading at the kitchen table over coffee with this metronome.

### 5/5 — 🥁 🪘🪘🪘 🥁 🪘 🪘 🪘

*2021-10-10*

This app is one of the most useful things I’ve ever found for improving my rhythm 🥁 work on the guitar 🎸. Only two bucks. Highly recommend.

### 5/5 — Great tool

*2021-03-18*

I like tools which are easy to use and focus on support my needs. It’s a great App without tons of stuff nobody really needs. Thanks Justin!

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2021-03-06*

I really needed a metronome with a visual way to see the beats. This is a game changer with my visual brain : thanks!

### 5/5 — Probs the best metronome app I’ve used

*2021-03-03*

I’ve used basically all the free metronomes on the App Store and there rubbish compared to this, it has everything u need , weirdly all the free ones don’t have 2/4 timing but this one does as well as pretty much every timing u would need, the tempo speeding up function is pretty cool as well tbf
