## What is Timecode Gen?

Main Features:

 - Generate linear timecode support LTC SMPTE PAL SECAM 24, 25, 29.97DF, 30 FPS with audio output.

 - Creating audio files with timecode in  compressed aac/.m4a(44,1kHz) format.

- RealTime mode - generation timecode of current system time of device. (supported Sync Mode)

- CUE timecode playlist. Can create CUEs with start time and end time. 
Creating sequecies with CUE's, using two modes "Auto Play Next" and "Stop At End".

- Sync devices with TC app, synchronously start/stop commands with connected nearby devices using Bluetooth or WIFI(on same network).
     Sync TX mode - Transmitter mode, device send commands to another device with RX mode.
     Sync RX mode - Reciever mode, device get commands: start, stop, set timecode from TX device.

I can confirm that this app on both my iPhone and iPad is able to jam-sync Time Code on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 4K and the Blackmagic Micro Studio cameras. It can also jam-sync my Zoom F6 audio recorder. Obviously you need the right audio cables to connect them. In my case I needed a USB-C to 3.5mm jack cable, and a Lightning connector to 3.5mm jack cable. This makes it super easy to jam-sync cameras very quickly. For those of us who need Time-of-day TC, just switch on Real Time mode in the app’s settings and away we go! Buying this app is a total no-brainer if you want a cheap and cheerful Time Code solution to sync cameras. Excellent!

I’m only just discovering the benefits of time-code and, having realised that I can jam-synch my GH4, using the Panasonic app, I wondered if I could do the same with my BMPCC4K? Of course, I could buy a synch system, such as Tentacle, or Atomos, but I wanted to just use an app on my phone. This app was simple, free, and promised to do what I wanted. I already had a ‘lightning to 3.5mm jack’ adapter so I connected my iPhone 11, running the app (set to real-time) to my BMPCC4K. Initially, the 3.5mm mic socket was set to ‘mic level’ but when I reduced it to ‘line level’ the camera recognised the audio TC coming through and adjusted to sync. Once the ‘ext’ symbol showed, I disconnected the phone. The camera will probably drift a little over time but I’m happy to re-synch every time I use it.

I was looking for a simple app that I could use to generate a Timecode signal from my phone to jam sync my master Timecode device with the current running time of day Timecode. This app does that for me, but the amount of supported frame rates is limited. The 30 fps option seems to output a non drop frame version, which wasn’t compatible with what I needed (29.97). If drop frame based frame rates would be added, it would be perfect for my needs
