### 2/5 — Struggling as a newbie

*2026-08-01, version 4.3.2*

Not intuitive so far as a first time user

### 4/5 — Almost great

*2026-07-19, version 4.3*

Love that you can set up subcategories. But…I want to see trend lines (line charts, not bar charts).
I want a full tree of activity (sub-sub cats, etc.)
I want to do like I can with Fitbit and shift from day to week to month to year to total timeframes.
I want to see subcategories as well as top level categories.

Basically I want to see how I’m changing over time.
I want to see correlations between activity and outputs like Vo2max and activity. I want to add medical test results and correlate them with activity. Overall, a good start!
I want prizes so I can try harder.
I want to compete with others.
I want to be able to say “I did this for this period) without having to let a clock run for that interval when I forget.

### 5/5 — Best app

*2026-07-11, version 4.3*

Timelines is one of my favorite apps to track time on. It’s reliable, easy to use, and has a great ui. I also love that it sinks between all my devices. Great app

### 5/5 — The best

*2026-07-07, version 4.3*

All the features I want and none that I don’t. Very clean and intuitive. Helps me justify my time and stay on track.

### 4/5 — The best I’ve seen (and I’ve been looking)

*2026-07-05*

Timelines has made tracking my time incredibly easy. After years of looking for a simple, straightforward tool for categorizing, correlating, analyzing, and (when working) assigning my time to projects, I was surprised (OK, ecstatic) to find Timelines. It’s got exactly the functionality I want, is intuitive and, as best I can tell, well architected. Oh, and the support is *excellent*.
So why the 4 stars versus 5? Maybe it’s more me than the tool. It took me awhile to get things defined as I needed. In a perfect world, the tool would allow me to reconfigure my structure and move previously assigned events to the more “buckets”.
But, this is not a perfect world, and if I were the product creator I’d argue that one should spend more time experimenting before locking things down.
Bottom line: Excellent tool. Rating? 4.5

### 5/5 — Brilliant - and simplified - time tracking and management app.

*2026-07-04, version 4.3*

As a professional service provider, I have tracked time for years initially via paper and pen. This wonderful app is a real asset and time saver for those of us who live by the clock. Strongly recommend. Update: I like this app more and more every time that I use it. It is flexible, simple, and easy on the eyes. Many thanks to the developer!

### 5/5 — Großartige App

*2026-06-26*

### 5/5 — Fantastic app

*2026-06-26, version 4.3*

I don’t often review things (maybe this is the first time?) but want to express how useful and well designed this app is. I use it to track my time as a visual artist and it’s the most intuitive software and user interface. I’ve used it almost every day for three and half years now. I appreciate the apps simplicity while being such an immensely helpful and valuable way to understand where my time goes. Thank you for keeping it real Lukas!!

### 5/5 — Very useful app

*2026-06-25, version 4.3*

I am able to track everything that I do each day. The app reminds me when I’ve not got a timer running and also when I’ve left one running too long.

It has a detailed reporting capability that gives me an exportable PDF.

### 5/5 — Life Changing

*2026-06-20*

This app has become an invaluable tool for managing both my time and daily life. Its intuitive design makes it easy to use consistently, allowing me to track my priorities and identify areas where I can be more intentional and productive.

One of the most valuable features is the long-term historical record it creates. After using it for several years, I can look back and see what I was doing at specific times, where I was, who I was with and when particular projects or seasonal tasks were completed. This context has proven surprisingly useful for planning, decision-making and reflecting on past experiences.

The insights gained from tracking my time have helped me eliminate activities that don’t align with my priorities and focus more of my energy on what truly matters. The support has also been excellent, with a responsive and helpful developer who clearly cares about the user experience.

The result has been greater productivity, better organisation and a clearer understanding of how I structure my days. Without question, this app has had a positive and lasting impact on my daily routine and overall quality of life.

### 5/5 — Very user friendly

*2026-06-19*

I believe it’s beneficial for everyone to keep track of the real hours they work in case of any issues with billing or pay.

This makes it super easy to do so and I’ve found it to be extremely helpful.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2026-06-16, version 4.2.4*

I can track multiple goals and see it coded based on color.

### 5/5 — Just the BEST!!!

*2026-06-12, version 4.2.4*

I am an Independant Contractor and use this app to track my client hours. i loved that there is a free version to give you a taste for how easy to use the app is. I quickly realized it would pay for itself, so I opted for the paid version. It allows for varying degrees of tracking: a little tracking to more detailed, to allow me to accommodate accordingly to each customers’ billing needs. I really appreciate how accessible the developer/creator is to ideas and concepts.

### 5/5 — Productivity

*2026-06-11*

you can track the event or task you’ve been doing and it helps you to understand how much actual time you’ve spent on particular tasks that will eventually helps me to monitor and improve my time management

### 5/5 — Best app for a long time

*2026-06-06*

Perfect for tracking equal Care too, just use one account on all the smartphones, and all the the tracked timings will be synced.

We use it for tracking stuff like picking up from kindergarten, bringing to bed, etc. It gives a perfect overview, a fool has invested how much time into care.

### 5/5 — Simple yet excellent

*2026-06-04, version 4.2.4*

Some of the other time tracker apps were not intuitive. This one is. Good interface and nice options for reviewing data.

### 5/5 — Simply Perfect

*2026-06-02, version 4.2.3*

Extremely user-friendly, enough detail to gather data but not so much as to overwhelm, and affordable. YAY!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not effective for productivity in workplace

*2026-05-11*

This app is great for just racking tasks
Bit i feel it fails my need for effective tracking life / work balance timelines .
It doesn’t sync with calendars like outlook.
It doesn’t give a daily time sheet to visually plan your day .
In proper goal tracking i would like to see an annual goal, monthly goal , weekly goal, daily goal .
With project timelines of each goal

Opportunity to make side notes

Add photos if necessary

### 1/5 — Not free at all

*2026-03-04, version 4.2.2*

Apparently, there are only seven days of free use of this app. I was looking forward to it, but I’m not willing to pay after only seven days of trying it out. Very disappointed.

### 1/5 — Leaving customer

*2026-02-27*

I used to use this app a while ago and left for two reasons, the app became useless and the developer too greedy.

### 1/5 — Leaving customer

*2026-02-24, version 4.2.2*

I used to use this app a while ago and left for too reasons, the app became useless and the developer too greedy.

### 1/5 — Very expensive

*2026-01-10*

It’s a very nicely designed app however the price is a lot. It’s only a subscription model to use the app beyond a very limited free access for people who don’t pay. It’s 9$ a month of 40$ a year. Free access gives you 3 possible items to track how you spend your time with which just is not enough, even if you generalize a lot of the things you would put (like adding “wasting time” instead of something like “youtube”). Trying out the app before you buy is impossible and free access basically isn’t a thing. While the app is expensive it can provide great value if you move past the price.

### 1/5 — Unreasonable pricing

*2025-12-04, version 4.1.2*

For such a simple function, $40 per year doesn’t seem reasonable.

### 1/5 — buggy mess

*2025-03-05, version 3.11.6*

this is the second time in as many years that i’ve convinced myself switching to timelines made sense and the app seemed great only for regret to slowly build over the course of 2-3 months. it’s just too buggy to be useable. that setting that prevents more than one timer from running at once? absolute joke; tell me why i’ve got well over 24 hours tracked in each 24 hour day that i’ve been having to manually go in and correct based on pure guesses. want to integrate with shortcuts? don’t bother, i wouldn’t even be able to remember all the bugs i’ve experienced in that regard if i’ve tried. the first time around (over a year ago) i tried communicating bugs to the author and while he was responsive, a couple of those original ones seem to still be here. switching back to toggl & timery, guess im out of however much the yearly subscription on this cost for the second time

### 1/5 — Free version is a joke

*2024-10-01, version 3.11.1*

Having a 3 timeline is a joke for free version
Monthly subscription is very high to force you to buy annual one. Free tier is only 7 days. I understand when advanced features are paid but 3 timelines? Maybe it’s a good app, but I don’t want to pay without even testing it normally

### 1/5 — Заметка для себя

*2024-07-20*

Больше не ставить.
Красиво, но для часов не работает

### 1/5 — Constantly telling you to subscribe

*2024-05-09, version 3.8.3*

Every time

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The Only Habit I’ve ever Kept

*2026-08-08, version 4.3.2*

Every other system I’ve built for myself, I’ve had to fight to keep alive. Timelines is the first system that’s so low friction (especially with the Apple Watch) that I’ve used it enough that it actually tells me the truth about my life, and forces me to come to terms with some of my worst habits (going to bed at 4am after internet use, avoiding hard work and socializing during times when I should be heads down). Every day I can look in the mirror and see where my time went, and while I’m not perfect yet, I’d be right back living in squalor if not for Timelines team building the best mirror into myself the world

### 5/5 — Keeps me on track

*2026-08-02, version 4.3.2*

I use Timelines every day. It helps me think about how I spend my time. I can change things to create better habits. I am creating a balance between efficiency with certain tasks, but allowing flexibility for things that require more thoughtful and deliberate attention. I am also using this Timelines app with other health related apps to make sure I alternate between sedentary and more physically active tasks.
Timelines is easy to use.

### 5/5 — So easy to use!

*2026-08-01, version 4.3.2*

An app like this, if it’s not easy, then using it becomes a chore. But this is SO easy, and provides helpful statistics in easy to read graphs (although pie charts aren’t useless for anything imo).

I added the list of job codes for my work, when I start one I simply tap it from the widget on my home screen and it starts the clock; if I forget to start or stop the timer, or change to a different job code, editing it is a breeze.

Then, at the end of the week I export to an Excel template where I have formulas to reformat the data so I can copypasta into my time card.

My only feedback would be to add more options for export formatting so I don’t need to use Excel to reformat to match my time card software’s formatting.

### 5/5 — Great tool for time tracking

*2026-07-31, version 4.3.2*

Easy to use

### 5/5 — Loyalty means nothing, apparently.

*2026-07-28, version 4.3.1*

I’ve been paying for this app for years because it did exactly what I needed. Today I opened it to log my walk and discovered a core feature I rely on (basic use of the app, really) is now locked behind a subscription that costs almost twice as much as what I’ve been paying.

No heads-up. No transition period. No grandfathering for long-time customers. Just “pay more or lose functionality.”

Companies have to raise prices sometimes— I get that. But nearly doubling the cost without warning (3.99/mo to 7.99/mo) and interrupting your customers’ day to pressure them into upgrading is a terrible way to treat the people who’ve supported your app for years.

I’ll be looking for another app. There are plenty of time trackers out there, and customer loyalty should count for something.

### 5/5 — Easy

*2026-07-23, version 4.3.1*

It’s really simple to use and I like all the functions, ease to export csv and load into Ai to analyse the data for me

### 5/5 — Great and very customizable

*2026-07-22*

It has everything you need. Was looking for something like that a long time. Love the simplicity of using it and all the customizations you can make. Theres always room for more but definitely a 9/10

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2026-07-21, version 4.3.1*

This app is exactly what I needed. Simple to use and has the features I need. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Works smooth and fast on Apple Watch

*2026-07-17*

I despise giving this app a 5 star review. I hate subscriptions, and $40 a year feels way too expensive. That said, this stands as the uniquely functional personal time tracking app for the Apple Watch. I experimented with all of the other options including atracker, toggl, timery/toggl, and lifecycle, and this is by far the best of them. It allows quick switching of tasks with minimal button presses, easy editing of tasks on the watch, review of events on the watch, fast/consistent syncing between device, and great integration with shortcuts, siri, health app data, and watch face complications. I use my watch as a dumbphone, independent of my iphone, so these features are absolutly nessesary. Only timery/toggl came close in ease/functionality, which relys on toggl's increasingly restrictive free subscription. I now track every minute of my day with this app with ease and convience. I would especially recommend this to people with ADHD or anyone who easily looses track of where their day goes. I hate the subscription price of this app, and would heavily encourage the dev to offer an expensive lifetime option. That said, for how well this app works I just can't make myself reduce this review to 4 stars. Thus, this is the only app I pay to subscribe to.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2026-07-13, version 4.3*

I am able to track my study progress with this app. I’ve been enjoying it so far
