It’s a simple question that often lingers in the back of your mind while you’re performing. A professional knows how to bring the show to a natural conclusion at just the right moment, but without knowing how long you have, you’re at a loss.

Fin was created to solve this problem in the most elegant way possible. Take your iPad, iPhone, Apple Vision Pro, or Mac, and let the timer run as you deliver the best performance of your life. You’ll know when your time is almost up, but no one else will.

Keep Your Performers on Schedule

If you run conferences, toastmasters meetings, or other live events, you’ll appreciate how well Fin keeps your talent on schedule. Rather than having someone in the front of the room holding up cards, let Fin do the job for you.

Fin will turn the background of the screen different colors at warning times you specify. (Yellow, Orange, and Red, or the Toastmasters standard Green, Yellow, and Red, or any other custom set of colors.) When time is up, the screen will pulse and a custom message will appear. The audience will never notice, but your performers will get the hint.

Controlled with Simple Gestures

Fin was designed to be used in live situations, whether on stage or in the recording studio. Starting or pausing is as simple as a tap on the screen. Adding or subtracting time is as simple as tracing a circle with your finger. Even while the timer is running, you can change the amount of time remaining, in case there’s been a sudden change in schedule.

You can have the timer count up or down, depending on your preference. You can choose whether to show only warning colors, the current time of day, or the counting timer.

If you know how long your time slot is, Fin will help you practice sticking to it. Use Fin during rehearsals to get a good sense of how long you’re going over or under your allotted time. Fin will automatically start an overtime counter once the timer runs out, so you’ll know not only that the presentation is going too long, but also by how much.

I’ve been using this app for several years, with no concerns. But a recent redesign complicated the way multiple clocks are managed. Access to the timer settings and access to the app settings are very easy to confuse with each-other. This app needs some proper UX design love.

It says it works with apple tv even though it says it is compatible on apple tv. I just see the timer on the screen and when i scroll up and down it adds or removes time. It does not say how to start it and I’ve pressed all the buttons on remote but it wont work.

I paid $9.99 for the full version of this a few years ago. Now the app is free, but the developer wants an additional $9.99/year or $29.99 for lifetime access, which isn’t that what I already bought?

I must have evaluated over 20 different countdown clock solutions for use in a pitch competition. If you need a combination of simple, elegant, powerful AND capable of supporting remote control (in my case, showing countdown on an onstage iPad but controlling it from an offstage iPhone), then this is your baby!  Had some trouble initially getting the devices to connect, that issue mysteriously disappeared.

One ask is that you allow user to control countdown clock font (offer a few choices without serifs) and change color.

Bottomline: super app that’s well worth the $9.99 price tag 🎉

I’ve been looking for such app to better time manage during a show/event. I have used this app for last 3-4 years. The two suggestions for improvements that I’ve like to give is on their range and their customisation of reminder for time remaining. I wish the range was better. Currently the range is limited to < 5 ft. I’ve kept devices on both same WiFi and in discoverable mode. But as soon as this distance (range) increases the connection gets lost and I have to move really close to get it back in connected device list. Hence, I feel like if the developer had any idea on how to improve this range, it would really help because staying within 5 ft of speaker/presenter is not realistic. Lastly, I think if we had liberty to change the reminder intervals. Currently it has pre-fixed reminder intervals.

Every time I try to use the remote control feature it crashes on my phone. I am on the same WiFi and both devices are right beside each other. Would love to see this fixed because it is an awesome feature!

You can’t just type in the times you want for green/yellow/red
Why doesn’t it display the traditional play and pause indicators like every other player?
Complex gestures with 2 and 3 fingers to operate.
