### 3/5 — Remote control Crashes

*2022-04-14, version 6.4*

Every time I try to use the remote control feature it crashes on my phone. I am on the same WiFi and both devices are right beside each other. Would love to see this fixed because it is an awesome feature!

### 4/5 — Now I’ve got round a bug it’s working well

*2020-08-28, version 6.2*

Now works well after a lab annoying bug ....

App installed on iPad Mini iPhone 11 Pro. Crashes each time I allow one or other device to be the remote control of the other - the key feature I wanted, to be able to remote start the clock sitting at far end of studio. Until the bug is fixed, a waste of my money.

Update - unfortunately nothing happens a when I click the ‘Contact Support’ link in the app on iPhone

Further update - butbsupport link works on iPad and developer replied with fix (go into remote settings, Help, and Clear Known Devices List on both devices) and everything joe working.

### 4/5 — Awesomely simple

*2020-01-25, version 6.2*

Easy to use, simple design.

### 3/5 — Crashes when connect iPhone and iPad

*2019-10-15, version 6.0*

I get the 3 permissions buttons. On selecting the green one, that app crashes and quits. Same both ways.

### 4/5 — No Custom Sounds

*2017-12-14, version 4.4*

This is a great timer app and works really well, however, I would give it a 5 star if the sounds could be modified.

### 5/5 — Spot on!

*2017-06-19, version 4.0*

Exactly what I was looking for. Love the feature of using the app on both iPhone and iPad in sync (and being able to adjust the timer from either in real time).

Even has an Apple Watch app. Bravo!

### 5/5 — Perfect for its purpose

*2017-05-14, version 4.0*

This is fantastic app that does just what it says, and does it extremely well. It is perfect for performances and also for practice. I love having it in split view as I speak along side my prepared text to keep myself on track.

### 5/5 — I trust Fin a lot more than built-in timers

*2017-04-21, version 4.0*

Whenever I rehearse or give a talk where timing is important, I always use Fin. The fact that it runs on my iPad and my phone is a great plus, because it's always with me. And now, it's synchronized!

Sure, most presenter packages have a "Presenter Display" but it is so busy that I have to concentrate just to look at it, which dist acts from my performance. With Fin, no problem. Easy to read and colour coded, it's what you want. Get it, you won't regret it.

I sometimes forget what gesture do what, but the handy button reminds me every time. Thanks, Fin!

### 5/5 — Piece of crap!

*2016-01-02, version 2.5*

Won't even launch on my iPad. Just quits. Tried re-downloading. It's just junk. Save your headache.

### 5/5 — My audiences love it when I end on time

*2015-12-30, version 2.5*

Speaking has it's own set of nuanced expectations that require preparation of the speaker. I'm often at venues that don't have a clock within my range of sight. But with Fin I know when to wrap things up without having to guess. Just remember to set your iPhone on Airplane Mode so that you don't get a call during the middle of your speech.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No support

*2026-01-27, version 7.0.5*

I sent a support request from the app to only have a reply that the email doesn’t exist. I then tried requesting support from the website and to date no reply.

### 1/5 — Need help

*2025-09-10, version 7.0.4*

I used this app with ease and great success last year at an event. I’m trying to use it again and can not connect my iPhone and iPad. Been trying all the suggestions and nothing works. I need help

### 1/5 — Does not work with apple tv

*2025-07-10, version 7.0.4*

It says it works with apple tv even though it says it is compatible on apple tv. I just see the timer on the screen and when i scroll up and down it adds or removes time. It does not say how to start it and I’ve pressed all the buttons on remote but it wont work.

### 1/5 — Buy lifetime twice?

*2025-05-09, version 7.0.3*

Bought this app already and now if I update it wants me to buy it again to give back the options I already had on the version I purchased- not cool st all

### 1/5 — Bait and switch

*2025-05-03, version 7.0.2*

I paid $9.99 for the full version of this a few years ago. Now the app is free, but the developer wants an additional $9.99/year or $29.99 for lifetime access, which isn’t that what I already bought?

### 1/5 — Horrible! Incredibly complex to adjust settings

*2022-03-05, version 6.4*

Settings are not all in the same place.
You can’t just type in the times you want for green/yellow/red
Why doesn’t it display the traditional play and pause indicators like every other player?
Complex gestures with 2 and 3 fingers to operate.
I want my $10 back!

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2020-03-11, version 6.2*

Can’t connect to remote device

### 2/5 — Almost great for Apple TV

*2020-12-18, version 6.2*

This app is great for what it’s supposed to do. The minimal design and easy to use interface make it great. Universal app across all iOS and tvOS is a great value.

However, there is a showstopping glitch on Apple TV 4K. It works fine when you run a timer from the presets screen. When you click on the timer to get full screen though, the “Menu” and “Play” buttons are disabled!!!

This is terrible because the only way to get that functionality back is by force quitting the app. It will work fine as long as you run it in the presets screen, so it is usable. Obviously though, losing the functionality for full screen mode is a major glitch.

This is probably the cleanest, easiest to use timer app, so I will keep using it in spite of the glitch for now. I really encourage the dev to take a look at functionality on Apple TV though since the app store shows it is on version 1.3 from Dec 17, 2018. Looks like it’s time for a quick debug and pushing it up to v1.4.

### 3/5 — UX downgrade

*2026-02-14, version 7.0.5*

I’ve been using this app for several years, with no concerns. But a recent redesign complicated the way multiple clocks are managed. Access to the timer settings and access to the app settings are very easy to confuse with each-other. This app needs some proper UX design love.

### 3/5 — Range and customisation

*2024-03-30, version 6.4*

I’ve been looking for such app to better time manage during a show/event. I have used this app for last 3-4 years. The two suggestions for improvements that I’ve like to give is on their range and their customisation of reminder for time remaining. I wish the range was better. Currently the range is limited to < 5 ft. I’ve kept devices on both same WiFi and in discoverable mode. But as soon as this distance (range) increases the connection gets lost and I have to move really close to get it back in connected device list. Hence, I feel like if the developer had any idea on how to improve this range, it would really help because staying within 5 ft of speaker/presenter is not realistic. Lastly, I think if we had liberty to change the reminder intervals. Currently it has pre-fixed reminder intervals.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Uncomplicated, elegant and powerful

*2024-11-14, version 6.4*

I must have evaluated over 20 different countdown clock solutions for use in a pitch competition. If you need a combination of simple, elegant, powerful AND capable of supporting remote control (in my case, showing countdown on an onstage iPad but controlling it from an offstage iPhone), then this is your baby! Had some trouble initially getting the devices to connect, that issue mysteriously disappeared.

One ask is that you allow user to control countdown clock font (offer a few choices without serifs) and change color.

Bottomline: super app that’s well worth the $9.99 price tag 🎉

### 5/5 — Best countdown timer I’ve found, and I’ve tried a lot

*2021-04-04, version 6.2*

I run meetings that need a countdown timer and so I’ve been through a lot of them. This one is by far the best one I have used! I have recommend this app multiple times and am very glad I found it. Lots of options and can even connect to my phone from my iPad with ease. Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — That’s not my name

*2021-02-15, version 6.2*

Great app, works well on a tablet. We screen mirror it onto a larger monitor at the back of the hall. The only confusing thing about this app is it’s name is it Fin,Timer for performance or Timer for rehearsal... who knows

### 5/5 — Good app

*2020-10-03, version 6.2*

In early stages of exploring this timer app but it looks very good. Color backgrounds and audio alerts that warm a speaker when the time is running out. Presets for often used times etc.

### 5/5 — Does what it needs to!

*2020-02-12, version 6.2*

Love the large numbers, and the count-up after hitting the time features, so I know how much I’m going over. Wish the Apple Watch app could buzz at certain intervals to help keep on track, (syncing with iPad?) but 5 stars!

### 5/5 — ggtg l

*2019-09-22, version 6.0*

thank uuu was more gf min n n it would make it happen again if jin the

### 5/5 — Kept My Conference on Schedule

*2019-05-15, version 5.0.1*

I put on a tech conference and was looking for a timing app I could use to help my speakers understand how much time they had left in their talk. I found Fin Timer on the App Store and this app killed it.

I was able to put my iPad Pro up on the stage for the speakers to see. I was then able to easily control the iPad Pro using my iPhone to start and stop the timer and adjust it as needed. Having the ability to control the app remotely was huge. It made the whole thing feel very professional and gave me a lot of piece of mind. It all just worked.

Presets were wonderful so I could easily switch between times and warning screens based on the length of the time slot.

Highly recommend and would use in my future conferences and personal talks I give.

### 5/5 — Fin better than fine.

*2018-04-25, version 4.7*

Fin was already a great execution of a speech timer and this update raises the bar even more. Could not ask for more responsive developer. Has every feature I could think of and more.

### 5/5 — AWESOME!

*2018-03-31, version 4.6*

Crashed a few times at first when trying to connect another device for the remote control feature, but it must have been an issue with the wifi network at the time.

Now the app works seamlessly and is a valuable tool that contributes to the success of our organization.

Thank you!

### 5/5 — Helps give great pacing to your talks

*2018-02-12, version 4.5*

I recently gave a talk and was the last speaker. Each person went way over their time which made my talk go well into the time past the event’s end time. I wish more people used Fin to keep their talks on track. I found it useful to keep my talk flowing as I practiced, using the change of color to signify when I should be in the next section of my talk. This app will help you give more professional talks.
