### 2/5 — It fully zzMFI

*2024-08-17*

The problem with Kagan is it provides a host of classroom engagement utilities that great in combination like team and student selector or team builder with one of the timers (another app).

But none of the KAGAN apps support split screen on iOS or iPadOS. Can’t even get to the top bar without quitting the apps.

This failure chases teachers back to their laptops or Macs on the desk instead of being untethered and mobile, one step away from any group of students.

FIX IT

### 2/5 — Graphics

*2014-06-10*

I am hopeful that the next update will be an improvement to the graphics. The graphics on your CD are clear and you have additional sounds to choose from too. I wish this was true for the app!

### 2/5 — Awful Graphics!

*2014-03-02, version 1.2*

Wow, I should've taken the reviews more seriously - awful quality graphics! Very blurry.

### 2/5 — Does not work right

*2013-10-22*

The turn timer does not show the correct time when you enter the seconds. The when you go to start the timer, it counts down in random fashion showing the wrong numbers but offering the correct amount of time. This app definitely needs some bug fixes!!

### 2/5 — Needs to be updated

*2013-10-02, version 1.0*

This app no longer works with ios7. Please update soon as it is a great tool when it works.

### 1/5 — Does not work with iOS 7

*2013-09-21, version 1.0*

Used to use this every day, but since I updated, all I'm getting is a blank white screen. Please fix!

### 1/5 — No, please.

*2013-09-20, version 1.0*

Doesn't work on iOS 7! :(

I've relied on this Kagan timer for day to day classroom procedures, but I've updated my iPad and all I see is a blank screen.

Needs an update, I guess?

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2013-03-27, version 1.0*

I didn't realize until after I purchased the app that it has no sound. Really a timer without an auditory alarm?! Pretty useless!

### 1/5 — Will

*2013-01-02, version 1.0*

Rubbish APP for the price you pay. The screen doesn't auto rotate - so kind of defeats the object of the exercise of having it made for the iPad. The display is blurred and that says it all!

### 2/5 — Teacher

*2012-12-06*

Agree with DMCFO...this app needs some major upgrades to justify $2.99. Screen needs to rotate and audio should be included. Some customization options would be nice too. As an educator, I would not recommend without changes.

### 3/5 — Screen Lock stops the timer

*2012-11-07*

It would be very helpful if the timers would continue to work when the screen goes off. It would be helpful if the app would rotate. Otherwise good idea.

### 3/5 — No sound?

*2012-09-10*

No sound on my iPad? Why is this missing.

### 2/5 — Truly bad and overpriced.

*2012-08-14*

Cooperative Learning is a great teaching method. It is clear though that Kagan did not put effort towards this app. Here's why:

- The timers/spinners don't have sound options (no buzzers or 'dings' to alert class). Unless students are looking at the timer, they will not know that it's time to move to the next student. There is no audible cue. Ridiculous and renders this app mostly useless in the classroom. Hoping for an update, Spencer Kagan, are you listening? Lazy design and ridiculously expensive considering what this app does/does not do.

- Does not rotate to orient up. This is a simple developer tool option that Kagan did not include. Pointless not to.

- The timers/spinners should be absolutely fullscreen once they have been initiated to help students see the numbers. If I already chose the settings and type of timer, why do I need a heading 'interval timer' at the top? Why do I need 'home, new, reset and start' buttons at the bottom. Those should pop up on the touch of a finger. Not be constantly present taking up valuable screen space.

Don't buy this. Seriously, don't. It's a waste. Also, the other apps are unhelpful as well for similar reasons. This is lazy design at an absurd cost. While the in-class teaching strategies themselves are useful, Spencer Kagan has proven time and time again that he is more interested in profit margins than quality products. The same can be said for the Kagan catalog which has $50 led timers from China. Production cost for items like that averages a couple of dollars. Too bad the Kagan Institute isn't more interested in useful accessible tools that complement their teaching strategies.

Kagan, if you want to redeem yourself I would suggest packaging all your tools/apps in one $2.99 package and updating these tools so that they are actually useful. Anyone rating this app over 1/2 stars is seriously ignorant to the amount of work (2-3 lazy days with zero thoughtfulness/quality control) the developer put into this. Finally, notice that this is version 1.0 (no updates have been issued). Hoping to be proven wrong, but I'm guessing we can expect more of the same.. nonresponse.

### 1/5 — Timer stops when iPhone sleeps

*2016-08-20*

One thing a timer should do is be reliable. My Alarm that is part of the iPhone works great even if the phone sleeps to save battery. I love Kagan, but if the timer isn't accurate what is the point?

### 1/5 — Not practical

*2016-02-22*

I'm extremely disappointed with the way this app doesn't run in the background. Keeping my phone awake in order for the app to work it's ridiculous! Kagan really needs to fix this problem.

### 1/5 — Not what I was hoping for!

*2015-08-18*

I attended a Kagan training and the presenter used the Kagan timers and I was thrilled to see in their catalog a timer for the iPad and iPhone. Please do not buy if this is the case, you'll be disappointed. The screen is blurry, not the crisp clear screen you see in the photos. The timer did not have the one I was really hoping for either, the one where the timer goes off after each student's turn, up to five students. Bummer! I had high hopes, but this has fallen very short!

### 1/5 — Poorly Made- not worth the $2.99

*2015-02-08*

First, I never take time to write reviews. I feel I have better things to do with my time. I am writing in hopes that Kagan will fix this app, or you will not waste your or you school district's money.
The app has the right basic elements for a timer for a teacher, but it lacks so many common app features, it is unlikely to be used. That is why you should not buy this app.
Everyone is right to complain about the blurry graphics. This is the first thing that should be fixed.
Next, it didn't run for me in the background. This is a deal breaker for me. Who doesn't multitask with their device?
And finally, (I could come up with more, but I have papers to grade) being able to have a few different sounds is important. I believe the sound should match the activity, not work against it. Harsh sounds stop work. Sometimes that is what I want my students to hear and do. Gentle sounds are more transitional, sending the message that "we will keep working but on the next task"he
Kagan, this app earns a "D" in my grade book for value. I expected an "A" for the price. The real price should be no more than a dollar. I would appreciate a fix or a refund.

### 1/5 — Another Educator Rip-Off

*2014-10-21*

Absolutely horrible app design and lack of ANY updates for modern Apple devices (wrong screen dimensions, no app rotation, very VERY blurry graphics, horrible layout, no sound choice options at all, and the list goes on) completely ruin what should have been a simple and very useful tool for teachers. Kagan fix this or stop selling it. It's giving you a bad name!

### 1/5 — New update - boooo

*2013-10-07, version 1.0*

I loved this app until the iOS 7 turned it into a whit screen. I even reinstalled it and we are still not working.

### 1/5 — Not working

*2013-10-02, version 1.0*

Only a white screen now and I use it all the time in class. Please fix ASAP!!!

### 1/5 — White screen

*2013-09-30*

I downloaded the app but when I open it all I see is a white screen, does anyone have this same problem? I've tried deleting it and adding it again and restarting my iPad but the app still comes up white. Not sure what to do...

### 1/5 — Not keeping up

*2013-09-29, version 1.0*

Timer does not work with new iOS 7.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work with OS7

*2013-09-25, version 1.0*

:-( Please fix!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — mathteacher

*2013-09-23, version 1.0*

LOVED this app before I updated to iOS7. Disappointed when I went to use it today and only got a white screen :(

### 5/5 — LOVE

*2011-08-30*

Perfect for use in the classroom. I was using my iPhone clock timer for group work, but I didn't have the option to use seconds. This gives me everything I need! I just put it up on my overhead projector. **Only thing I would change/add would be different alarm sound options.

### 4/5 — Fix orientation

*2013-10-23, version 1.1.1*

Please fix theories tattoo so it goes to landscape . Thank you

### 4/5 — Good, but not (yet) as good as the original pc version

*2012-07-14, version 1.0*

Timer tools on the pc are great. This is a good first attempt for iPad.
Easy to use and set up the timer options. Key things missing / for
 improvement are......
1. The screen doesn't auto rotate - it only works as landscape with the home button on the right.
2. The icons are not very well defined and are a little blurred.
3. No option to set an exact time in the countdown timer, one of the presets must be used
4. Quite expensive, especially if the whole suite of tools is purchased

### 4/5 — Almost Perfect

*2011-06-22*

Love this tool for training. I wish it could be embedded into a keynote presentation. It does not work with the LCD adapter either. If those two things were fixed, I would rate it a perfect 10!

### 3/5 — Useful for Kagan activities but very poor resolution

*2017-11-07, version 2.0.1*

For the price that is being charged the resolution of the images is very poor. There are 6 useful timers however and turn timer in particular is very useful.

### 3/5 — Like the timers... Wish it did more

*2016-08-24*

I'm a huge Kagan fan. I like the timers this app has, although they are basic, there are a variety including an interval timer which another reviewer said it didn't. I guess what I don't like is that when your screen goes to sleep so does the app... This could be fixed, but you would have to change your phone or iPad settings to keep your screen on longer. I would have liked to see more too for the money... With the software Timer Tools, which I also have, there are so many more options. Maybe an update is warranted?

### 3/5 — Perfect but...

*2013-11-07*

Different timers are the perfect amount and all i can think i need in the classroom. For 2.99 however, i was hoping i could change sounds or have other little bonuses. Plus, the quality is very blurry. It will work, and i like having the timers with quick-set buttons.

### 3/5 — Room for improvement

*2013-10-18*

My number one complaint is that it only shows in portrait orientation. It wastes tons of screen, and it is really difficult for me to stand my iPad up vertically. Most cases stand up horizontally requiring the orientation to rotate to landscape. It doesn't do that.

### 3/5 — Has potential, please update!

*2013-10-04, version 1.0*

I love everything Kagan does. I use their cooperative learning structures. The app, however, needs some help. It would be so helpful if it ran in the background. Also, it needs to be updated to work with iOS7. Nothing appears on my screen and I've already tried deleting and reinstalling. Please help! This app could be so great!
