Been like this for ages. Oh, and the nag to enable notifications is just user hostile. I don’t want a puzzle app to send me notifications. Nobody wants a puzzle app to send them notifications. There is nothing useful to notify me about. I know new puzzles appear at midnight every single day. So stop nagging me to enable them every time I open the app. ### 3/5 — Please fix the UI! *2026-07-03* Great puzzles but the lazy app design results in problems where most recently, every time I reopened the cryptic jumbo the whole puzzle reset and I lost all progress . Happened 15 times before I gave up and printed it instead. Now every time I open I get the portrait narrowed appearance (holding it in landscape) with no clues on the size and have to reorientate to landscape to refresh. This is EVERY time I reopen the puzzle. The support is next to useless. They take days to answer the first query, just to ask for your name and email address before they can investigate. Then truly unhelpful - I.e., uninstall and reinstall. Well that didn’t work, so how about you fix the app instead! ### 2/5 — Broken again and again *2026-06-30, version 2.4.0* On Thursday Picle went wrong - refused to accept the map location I entered. On Friday it worked. Tuesday and it’s broken again. Looks like a new version because each game opens with a “how to play” pop-up. And all past scores are lost. And every time the app opens it asks about notifications. Very irritating. ### 2/5 — Buggy and lacking synchronisation *2026-06-13, version 2.4.0* Sadly prompts to turn on notifications every time, and lacks any synchronisation between iPhone/iPad versions of the same app, and no sync to the Times Live app puzzles. The (unrelated) NYT Games app does this far better, perhaps they would swap notes with their developers! At least, so far, it doesn’t have the annoying bug from Times Live of randomly opening the browser to display ads. ### 2/5 — Big glitches *2026-04-24* Recently I have had major problems with this app. I can do the crossword, but it doesn't save my progress unless I complete the puzzle in one go. If I close the app and come back later, the grid is blank. Same with Polygon. Quintogram doesn't work at all. ### 3/5 — Silly bugs *2026-03-03, version 2.3.0* Updated today to include Sakuro (why wasn’t that done when they changed the name?). Polygon still says “No. 4+ letters” and Codeword still doesn’t show completed games/ times on the index. Surely someone noticed that? ### 3/5 — No printer support *2026-02-27* When a print button appeared I was hopeful that printing out a copy of crosswords would become simpler and faster. Sadly, the print button is just for show and never brings up a printer dialogue window. Despite putting in several requests to support this never gets fixed, despite multiple updates since my original request and promises that it will be address. ### 3/5 — RKC *2026-02-24, version 2.2.0* Suko is still there using its old name but stopped updating puzzles on 31 January. iPhone. All that appears is a blank page ### 3/5 — Suko / Sakuro *2026-02-14, version 2.2.0* You appear to have renamed Suko as Sakuro on the website but it no longer shows in the Puzzle App. Why? I enjoy the puzzles but this just seems sloppy. ### 2/5 — Unreliable and random content? *2026-02-14, version 2.2.0* Not sure about Times subscriptions management and in this case reliability of content compared with the rest daily online newspaper. ### 2/5 — Glitchy to say the least *2026-02-11, version 2.2.0* The latest update to the app has introduced a whole new set of problems. For Pete’s sake stop releasing ‘improvements’ before they’re properly tested. Suko is no longer updating new games. Some puzzles no longer indicate when they’ve been completed. Puzzles don’t keep track of progress when you close the app… Tried deleting and reinstalling the app on my iPad but it hasn’t fixed the problem. Will give it a couple more weeks for the developers sort it out before I delete the app and cancel my subscription, and NO, I’m not going to contact support… just sort the problems out and stop making pointless updates. ### 2/5 — Need to fix the bug *2026-02-03, version 2.2.0* All good, bar the continuing irritation of wiping ongoing work and not saving the history - #1 issue All the recent cosmetic changes are all well and good but fix the issue or subscriptions will fall. ### 2/5 — Code word *2026-01-31, version 2.2.0* The new look code word, neither saves my time or letters. Good if I want to do it many times , but disheartening too. Plus why must I have notifications on. Insane. ### 1/5 — The BUG *2026-06-13, version 2.4.0* Avoid ap until this is resolved as all your answers are deleted ### 1/5 — Painful to Use on iPad *2026-05-02* As others have mentioned, the app currently has a major bug where it doesn’t remember state when closing a puzzle, or closing the app. This means that it will ask you to go through the “New Crossword Design” tutorial quite often, won’t remember whether you want to show word breaks or not, and will clear a puzzle when you close it and go back in. There’s also an annoying thing where your subscription in the app doesn’t align with having a subscription on the website, so you need to create a new account and new subscription to use the web version of the puzzles, so you can’t keep progress. AWFUL! **Developer response:** Good morning, we are sorry to hear of your issue regarding this. However you feedback is greatly appreciated and will certainly be passed onto the app development team to review. It’s surely a basic function of a word based puzzle to go back and complete the puzzle, filling in the gaps rather than having to do the whole thing again? What makes this bug so annoyingly glaring is the fact that if you do complete the puzzle in one sitting, it shows the time you took to solve it but still if you go back in, you have still scored zero out of however many words you have to find. Please fix this! ### 1/5 — 2 new faults on iPad *2026-03-08* After working perfectly for me, for years, there are now 2 new faults on the iPad version only: (1) puzzle progress is not saved, either online or offline. If I start a puzzle then exit and go back in, I have to start again, and (2) on Quintagram only, after entering the first letter, the puzzle freezes stopping me from entering any more letters. Don’t understand what all the bug outcry is in these reviews is being ignored. And I don’t understand why I can’t report the bugs privately from inside the app! If you need to charge a little more, to stop bugs like these - please do! ### 1/5 — Subscription paid but no puzzles *2026-03-04, version 2.3.0* I pay a monthly subscription for this app. Money was taken from my account as usual. It used up 20% of charge in just 45 minutes of crossword activity. The only app I’ve consistently used daily. Whether that’s luck on my part I don’t know. I don’t use it for the other puzzles, but it’s a great way to feed my Times cryptic addiction. Improvements would include: - automatically syncing the completed clues across devices logged into the same account - a dark mode - a scratch pad for working on anagrams - clearer icon highlighting to show whether you’re in pen or pencil mode ### 5/5 — Fantastic! *2021-04-24, version 1.3.0* Great to have all the puzzles to save downloading and printing - better for the environment. Very well designed. Other puzzles are addictive too and also works fully offline on my occasional commute. The format of many existing games is now either minuscule or off the scale and needs multiple openings or a reboot or huge persistence to get to open in right size and format.
