## What is Times Up! Timer & Stopwatch?

A minimalist timer that still reaches you when the phone is locked.

Pick a length — from a preset, or with hour, minute and second pickers — and it counts down in big, readable numbers on a black screen. Need to be done by a certain time? Count down to a clock time instead. Or count up like a stopwatch.

When time is up the screen flashes orange and the alarm sounds. Set an interval and it pings you along the way — every ten seconds, or every ten minutes.

The alarm is handed to iOS as a notification, so it still fires when the app is in the background or your phone is locked. One honest note: like any notification sound, it follows your ringer switch — if your phone is on silent, the alert arrives silently.

• Count down from a length, or down to a clock time
• Count up, like a stopwatch
• Interval pings with a tone and an orange flash
• The screen stays awake while it runs, so you can put the phone down
• Remembers your last setting
• Free. No ads, no accounts, no tracking
• iPhone and iPad

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 3.1 — 2026-10-18

New name, easier to find: Times Up! Timer & Stopwatch. Countdowns, count-up and interval pings still fire when the phone is locked. Nothing else changed.

### 3.0 — 2026-10-10

Rebuilt from the ground up. The one that matters most: the alarm now still fires when the app is in the background or your phone is locked.

• Choose a length from presets (1 min to 1 hr) or with hour/minute/second pickers, instead of typing a number into a text field
• Count down to a clock time, or count up as a stopwatch
• Interval pings with a tone and an orange flash
• Your last setting is remembered between launches
• Now installs on iOS 16 and later — previously it required iOS 26.5, which very few phones had
• Bigger, clearer numerals, a progress bar, and a notifications warning when the alarm would otherwise be silent

### 2.0 — 2026-08-01

Simplified home display and bug fixes.

### 1.0 — 2023-06-27

No release notes.
