## What is TinyBeacon?

TinyBeacon helps parents and legal guardians see the safety moments that matter — without turning family life into a feed.

Know when your child arrives at or leaves a named safe zone. See shared location on every build while sharing is on. When your child needs help, they can tap or type a safe word to send an emergency alert.

In a new family setup, data-collecting safeguards start off disabled. A demo account may show sample safety choices already enabled. A parent or legal guardian gives consent for each safeguard before it is enabled. You choose what to share, your child can see the shared categories, and you can withdraw any safeguard anytime. We explain what each choice makes visible before you enable it.

On iPhone:
• Shared family location and safe-zone arrival and leave alerts
• Screen-time controls through Apple’s built-in Family Controls
• Emergency help on every build
• No app-use details or screenshots collected by the iPhone build

Capabilities vary by device and build. Some safety heads-ups are limited to separately distributed supervised editions; the public iPhone build does not collect screenshots or message content.

Screenshot evidence, when collected by a separately distributed supervised edition, is end-to-end encrypted. Location and other telemetry are encrypted in transit with TLS and at rest with AES-256; they are not end-to-end encrypted. There are no ads and we do not sell family data. Retention is a rolling data window of 7 to 180 days; it does not expire consent, and 30 days is the default. Review your choices, withdraw a safeguard, or request deletion from the app.

TinyBeacon is a caring co-pilot for a growing family: clear choices, visible safeguards, and one calm next step when something needs care.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.7.0 — 2026-10-05

- Your child's device check-in time is now shown honestly, so you can see exactly how fresh it is
- Safe zones on the map are coloured by whether they are actually active, instead of being guessed from their name
- During an emergency the app stays focused on what matters and tucks non-essential tabs away until it is resolved
- Turning off your last remaining safeguard now asks you to confirm first, so a child's history is never cleared by surprise
- Clearer consent and alert wording throughout, and your child's screen now reflects their real consent state instead of guessing
- Encryption wording now says exactly what it covers: screenshot evidence is end-to-end encrypted, while location and other details are encrypted in transit and at rest
- Removed a research-sharing toggle that was not connected to anything, and a sample alert that was not real
- A device the server had turned away now recovers on its own, and setup copy says plainly when something is not set up yet
- More reliable sign-in, more accurate cleanup of older location history, and many smaller fixes

### 1.6.8 — 2026-09-14

- A calmer look with clearer navigation across the app
- Home opens with a gentle 7-day overview of your family's week
- Co-guardians: invite another parent or legal guardian to share safeguards and receive emergency alerts
- Emergency alerts: delivery to every guardian is retried until someone acknowledges, and the child sees an honest pending/confirmed status
- Screen-time balance on iPhone uses Apple Family Controls and only starts after a parent or legal guardian gives consent; status is always shown plainly
- Safe-zone arrival and leave alerts are clearer and more dependable
- Privacy: a rolling data-retention window you choose (7 to 180 days, default 30) that never changes consent; clearer data declarations
- Device pairing: the code field now dismisses the keyboard properly on iPhone
- Sign in with Apple and Google, email verification fixes, and many smaller fixes

### 1.3.2 — 2026-07-19

We've made it easier to stay connected when it matters most.

• Emergency SOS is more dependable: alerts recover automatically after interruptions, and duplicates are prevented.
• Tapping an emergency notification now opens the right details — even from a fresh start. Safe-zone exit alerts and notification badges are more reliable.
• Location sharing stops immediately when a parent withdraws consent, plus added privacy and stability improvements.

### 1.3.1 — 2026-07-10

- Safe-zone alerts now let you know both when your child arrives at and when they leave a designated area
- Your privacy choices now apply everywhere: turning off analytics or crash reporting in Privacy Settings takes effect across your family's devices
- Clearer App Store description of TinyBeacon's features and privacy protections
