## What is tinydot?

tinydot turns a folder into a website. A blog, a wiki, docs for a project, a portfolio, a page for anything — drop files into the folder and they're live at yourname.tinydot.com, or at a domain you already own.

HOW IT WORKS
• Create a site and a real folder appears in Finder (Files on iPhone and iPad)
• Drag files in and they're live. Edit one and the site updates. Move it and the site follows
• No builder, no deploy step, nothing to publish

WHAT BECOMES A PAGE
• Markdown becomes pages. Images, video and audio play inline
• Code renders with syntax highlighting, PDFs get a viewer, CSVs become tables
• Everything else becomes a clean download
• Pick a theme, or add your own CSS on top of it

WRITE LIKE A WIKI
• Link pages with [[wikilinks]] and each page shows what links back
• Tag with #hashtags. Mark a file draft and it stays hidden until you're ready
• It's plain Markdown, so a notes folder or an Obsidian vault publishes as it is

YOUR ADDRESS
• Every site gets yourname.tinydot.com the moment you create it
• Bring your own domain and point it at your site with one DNS record
• HTTPS is issued automatically and renews itself

YOUR FILES
• The site is a folder on your Mac, iPhone and iPad. It syncs like iCloud Drive, in Finder and in Files
• Leave any time and take the whole site with you — there is nothing to export

INCLUDED
• RSS, sitemap, search and social previews
• Keep a site private with sign-in, or invite people to edit
• tinydot is free

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.16 — 2026-09-01

- the designs offered when you create a site now come from the server, so the list only shows designs that exist. iPhone was offering “blog” and “docs”, which quietly gave you the default one instead
- sharing a file to tinydot from another app now goes through the same uploader as the rest of the app
- fixed a sync bug that could leave a file on the server but missing from your device, with nothing looking wrong on either side. changes the server sent could be dropped before they were applied, and the app still reported it had seen them
- editing a folder's index file now saves to that file. it could be written to a new file named after the folder instead, leaving the page unchanged

### 1.15 — 2026-08-25

- claim your site after sign-in: pick a username, get username.tinydot.com live with a first page and photo already in your folder
- template settings decode every option type, so the dropdown can never come back empty (Alicia's bug)
- a signed-out app stops trying to sync and tells you once to sign in, instead of failing silently
- the app asks you to update when a version is too old to sync
- iPhone: delete account from settings, same as Mac

### 1.14 — 2026-08-03

Fixed
- Files you delete on tinydot.com no longer come back on your iPhone
or iPad. Fixed a related bug that could remove files from your
account when the app's local folder was empty — both came from the
app re-uploading its local view on launch and when you tapped sync.
- You now stay signed in. Sessions expired after 30 days with no way
to renew, which signed you out and left your tinydot folder empty
  until you signed in again.
- Your email address no longer shows blank in Settings.

### 1.13 — 2026-07-21

This update fixes two issues:

• The tinydot location now reliably returns to the Files app after you remove it or reinstall the app.
• Dark mode is now consistent across every screen.

Thanks for the feedback — keep it coming.

### 1.12 — 2026-07-19

Fixed a problem where refreshing a site could replace cloud files with
empty placeholders instead of downloading them.

Problem reports now include sync details, so we can diagnose issues
without asking you to dig through logs. This is covered by the existing
"Include app info" checkbox — turn it off and nothing is sent.

Reports that failed to send (for example while offline) are now
delivered automatically the next time the app opens, instead of being
stuck until you reported again.
