No ads. No subscription. No account. No tracking. Works offline.

Tipping is a local habit, and nobody grows up knowing all of them. This app is for the moment the bill arrives in a country that is not yours: pay the right amount where tipping is expected, and nothing where it is not.

A TIPPING GUIDE IN YOUR OWN LANGUAGE
The guide is written in 12 languages, including Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Spanish, French and Arabic. If you would rather not read about money in a second language while standing at a counter, this is the part that matters.

Each of the 33 countries is marked one of three ways: tipping is expected, it is optional, or it is not expected. From there you get the usual range for a restaurant, and for some countries a breakdown of casual dining, fine dining, a bar or cafe, and a taxi, with short notes on local habits such as cash being preferred or a service charge that may already be on the bill. One tap sends the suggested rate into the calculator.

TWO CURRENCIES AT ONCE
Enter the bill in the currency you are paying in and read the total in your home currency on the same screen. 24 currencies are supported.

Rates refresh once a day and stay on your device, so the last one still works with no signal, and each rate shows when it was last updated. When none is available the app shows a dash instead of a number, rather than inventing one.

PRIVACY AND PRICE
Nothing you type leaves your device. The only network request is the daily rate lookup. Free, no in-app purchase, made by one developer. If the guide is wrong about a country you know well, write to me and I will fix it.

Exchange rates are for reference and are not intended for financial transactions. Tipping customs vary by region and venue, so treat the guide as a starting point rather than a rule.

Exchange rates you can check
Every rate now shows when it was last updated, so you can tell whether the number in front of you is from this morning or from your last trip. If a rate cannot be fetched, the app shows a dash instead of a number rather than quietly using the wrong one.

Nine more currencies, 24 in total
Thai baht, Singapore dollar, Swedish krona, Norwegian krone, Danish krone, Vietnamese dong, Indian rupee, Indonesian rupiah and New Zealand dollar.

The app and the country tipping guide are available in English, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Spanish, German, French (France and Canada), Korean, Portuguese, Italian and Arabic.
