I didn’t mind the ads. But lately when you click on the app it switches over to Japanese ads that you can’t get out of. Sorry I don’t read Japanese and it doesn’t give you the option to ‘x’ out of the ad. So I had to remove the app from my phone. Now it’s ads, ads, ads! I couldn’t even get the amount in before an ad popped up. Annoying. ### 1/5 — Scam app *2026-06-11, version 4.0* Every time I use this app in a restaurant or diner, I would get blocked on the screen very hard to get rid of a scam saying that a charge has been put on my Apple account. Stay away from this app for your own good. ### 1/5 — Shame *2026-05-12* TL;DR for everyone: avoid. This app used to be decent, not good, decent. Is currently plagued by ad bombardments that span from fraudulent “your iPhone is infected” to adult material in ads. Actual review: I have had this app on my phone for years. It’s been my go to for calculating tips. While it hasn’t been perfect (tips were either calculated too highly or low) it was still close enough to warrant ignoring the issues. Over that time I started noticing the out of the way banner ad started to get more obnoxious but, as a banner, could safely be ignored. Sometime in the last year, full screen ads (like you see pop up in mobile games) started appearing. While I genuinely despise this style of advertising, I know bills need to be paid, I get it. Over the last six months however, I started to randomly get adult ads when opening the app. This. Should. Not. Happen. The first time I came across this was (of course) in a public restaurant. That can be genuinely embarrassing and cause a slew of problems for anyone using the app or witnessing it from a distance. Once I got an adult ad for a third time at a restaurant, I started calculating manually and decided to wait and see if things got better. Today I was greeted with a full screen ad “warning” me that my phone is “infected” and needs to have an app downloaded to fix it. That’s the final straw for me. As someone who works in technology, this app has become predatory. If I could give it a zero star rating I would. Fix this. Vet your advertising partners better. To anyone who is considering using this app. Don’t. Find something else. ### 1/5 — Loaded with ads and some are for adult content. *2026-03-02, version 4.0* Wasn’t expecting ads after reading another review.
