## What is TipBud?

You took home $240 last night — but what did you really make an hour?
TipBud logs a shift in about ten seconds and shows your true hourly rate: wages + tips − tip-outs.
And your history survives anything — private iCloud backup, CSV export, no account, no ads.

Built for servers, bartenders, baristas, and anyone who works for tips.

WHY TIPPED WORKERS SWITCH TO TIPBUD
• Ten-second shift entry that learns your patterns — it fills in your usual Saturday, you just fix the numbers
• True hourly rate on every shift and every week (wage + tips − tip-outs ÷ hours)
• Tip-out rules per job — busser 2%, bar 1.5%? Set it once, it's computed every shift
• Your month on a calendar, night by night, with a tap-any-day breakdown
• Home screen that knows you: last night's take-home, week trend, month pace, and what your best weekday actually pays
• Weekly recap on YOUR pay week, not the calendar's
• Home-screen widget — last shift and your week, at a glance
• Cash vs card split, day-of-week averages, personal bests
• Multiple jobs with separate wages — all included, nothing extra to buy
• New U.S. federal tip deduction (2025–2028): keep the daily tip log the IRS expects, export it any time
• CSV export, always — your tips are your data
• Switching apps? Import your history from a CSV in minutes
• Private iCloud sync + backup files — no account, no login, nothing to lose
• Face ID app lock — your money stays your business
• Share a night as a clean card — with a $-hidden mode that shows the shape, never the dollars
• Optional reminders computed from your own history, off by default
• Light, dark, or system appearance — and built to respect your text-size settings

ONE PURCHASE, YOURS FOREVER
Your first 14 shifts include every feature, nothing held back. After that, a single one-time unlock keeps TipBud yours for good — no subscription, no ads, ever. And your history stays viewable and exportable even if you never buy.

No account. No tracking. Just your tips, added up honestly.

### 5/5 — Helpful

*2026-07-27*

It really helped me track my tips and, over time, improve my financial strategy.

### 5/5 — The one and only App

*2026-07-27*

Excellent app for tracking tips! I’ve tried a few tip-tracking apps, and TipBud is by far the simplest and most user-friendly. The interface is clean, logging shifts takes just a few seconds, and it’s easy to keep track of cash, card tips, tip-outs, hourly earnings, and overall income. I also appreciate that it’s private and doesn’t require creating an account. It’s a great tool for servers, bartenders, and anyone who earns tips. Highly recommended!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0.2 — 2026-08-28

Three things you asked for.

• Your total for the shift — wages and tips together — now shows on every shift in the list and under the week, period and month totals. No more opening a shift to see it.
• Tip in. If other staff tip you out — a pool share, the bar's cut from servers — log it under "Add more fields" and it's counted into your tips.
• The calendar now starts on the day your week starts. "Week starts on" in Settings was being ignored by the calendar; it isn't any more, and it's always there, whatever your pay period.

Also:
• Search your notes, jobs and tags from the Shifts tab.
• "Leave out of averages" on a shift — for a placeholder or a night that wasn't typical. It still counts in your totals, just not in averages or best nights.

### 2.0.1 — 2026-08-11

Breaks of any length.

Some shifts leave you off the clock for hours, not minutes. The unpaid break used to stop at one hour; now it doesn't stop anywhere. Tap the break row and set hours and minutes — two and a half hours, four, whatever the day actually was.

Also:
• TipBud tells you when a break would leave no paid hours at all, instead of quietly showing you a shift with no hourly rate.
• "Repeat last shift" brings your usual break with it.
• Hours read the way you say them — 7h 13m, not 7.21 h — everywhere, including the widget.
• If a job has no hourly wage saved, the rate says so instead of quietly showing you tips per hour. One tap to fix it.
• Your home screen says how long it's been since you logged, so an old good night stops looking like last night, and the calendar opens on the last month you actually worked.
• Larger text sizes no longer break dollar amounts across two lines.

### 2.0 — 2026-08-06

Check you were paid right.

Card tips increasingly land on your paycheck instead of in your hand, which makes a stub
impossible to check. Now you can. Tell TipBud your pay period — weekly, every two weeks, twice a
month, monthly — then add a paycheck and see what your logged shifts expected next to what the
stub actually says.

Also new:
• Pay periods everywhere. Shifts ▸ Period totals the span you're actually paid for, not just a
  calendar week.
• Unpaid breaks. Your hourly rate is now figured on paid hours, so a 30-minute break stops
quietly dragging down the number this app exists to get right.
• Tip percentage and average check, from sales you already record — weighted properly, so one slow
  Tuesday can't swing it.
• Your tip record for the year, with voluntary tips and mandatory auto-grat kept apart the way
they have to be. U.S. only, and it's a record — not tax advice.
• Undo an import. A bad CSV used to be permanent. Now it isn't, and you see exactly what an
import will do before it does it.
• Settings tells you when you last backed up, and "How to use TipBud" explains the whole thing
  whenever you want it.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-07-27

• New: Hide amounts in widget (Settings → Privacy) — the widget keeps your week's shape without the dollars.
• Fixed: a shift with identical start and end times no longer logs as 24 hours.
• The Home greeting now rotates a daily fact from your own history.

### 1.1 — 2026-07-27

No release notes.
