## What is Tipje?

Every card in Tipje says why. Not "take off your shoes" but "Take off your shoes at the door so our home stays clean and cosy."

A child who knows the reason does not have to be convinced again every morning. That is the whole idea, and it is on all 150 cards: 60 house rules, 60 chores and 30 rewards, each one written by hand in English, Dutch and German — no machine translation.

It is a chore chart, a reward chart and a house-rules board in one: the star chart from the fridge, minus the missing stickers.

HOW IT WORKS
Tell Tipje your child's age band once and a starter board appears: around five house rules, five chores and six rewards chosen for that age. Change any of them, or write your own.

Your child gets a tab of their own. They tick off what they have done and earn peanuts. Peanuts buy rewards you approved first. The badges sit on the Achievement Board; the weekly recap there is part of Tipje Family.

WHAT'S INSIDE
• 150 cards, every one with its reason in words a child can repeat
• A whole starter board from one tap, then edit anything you like
• Rewards you write yourself, priced in peanuts you set
• Up to two children, each with their own board and their own cards (with Tipje Family)
• Badges your child can see for themselves, with no PIN in the way
• Streaks that forgive one missed day, and a personal best that keeps standing
• Sound, a gentle vibration and confetti when something is genuinely done
• One evening reminder at a time you choose, naming what is still open
• A Sunday recap of the week, written for you
• A parent PIN, so you are the only one who can change a card
• Tap a locked card and Tipje asks your child to fetch a grown-up — it never opens a purchase
• Rule lists that open without a connection
• No adverts anywhere in the app

"ISN'T THIS BRIBERY?"
Honest answer: no — but it can become that. A bribe is what you offer in the middle of a conflict to make a behaviour stop: sweets at the till so the screaming ends. Tipje runs the other way round. The agreement is set beforehand, your child knows the reason, and the reward comes afterwards. The reason is on the card, not the peanut.

You write the reward list yourself, so it can cost time instead of money: reading together, choosing what goes on the table on Sunday, a walk with just you. And when your child knows a rule a few months in and no longer needs the card, take it off the board. That is not failure, that is finished.

WHAT AGE
Tipje fits ages 6 to 8 best. Most children read and tick their own cards from about five; with a grown-up reading the cards aloud it works a little earlier. The cards are short and the peanuts count on one hand.

PLANS
Tipje Family: yearly with a 14-day free trial through the App Store, monthly, or a one-time purchase. The price for your country is shown before you choose anything, and the upgrade sits in the parent area, behind the parent PIN.

Families who already use Tipje keep exactly what they have. And without Tipje Family the app stays readable rather than locked: boards, history, badges and the peanut balance all stay visible, they just cannot be changed.

Made by one Dutch developer, for his own family first.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.0 — 2026-09-05

A starter board in one tap, reminders, badges every family can see, kinder streaks, and a weekly recap for you.

If you already use Tipje, nothing changes for you. Your limits stay exactly as they are, and you are never asked to pay.

A chore routine rarely breaks on purpose. It fades on a busy Tuesday and nobody notices. This release is about that.

A STARTER BOARD IN ONE TAP
Tap your child's age band and a whole board appears: around five house rules, five chores and six rewards chosen for that age. No more picking through long lists before the app does anything. Everything stays editable afterwards.

REMINDERS, ALL OF THEM FOR YOU
One evening reminder at a time you choose, and it names what is still open. A quiet nudge when a streak is about to break. A Sunday recap of the week. Not a single notification goes to your child, and each reminder has its own switch in Settings.

BADGES YOUR CHILD CAN SEE
Badges now unlock for every family, not only paying ones, and the badge board no longer sits behind the parent PIN. There are far more of them than before — including one for coming back after a broken streak — and they keep arriving well past the first month.

STREAKS THAT SURVIVE REAL LIFE
One missed day no longer wipes a streak. And when a streak does end, your child sees their personal best instead of a zero.

CELEBRATION THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS
Sound, a gentle vibration and confetti when something is genuinely saved. The sound files shipped broken before and never played; they play now. One switch in Settings turns sound and vibration back off.

YOUR WEEK ON ONE CARD
The weekly recap shows what got done, peanuts earned and spent, where the streak stands, and how the week compares with the one before. In a quiet week it now says something honest instead of nothing at all. The recap is part of Tipje Family.

FIXES THAT MATTER
• When something fails to save, you see it. It used to fail silently.
• The board no longer tells you a task was saved when it was not.
• Rule lists open without a connection.
• The app is back on its own typeface: around 44 places had quietly fallen back to the system font.
• German rewritten. 56 catalogue cards spoke to children as "Sie"; they now use natural, informal German.
• "Forgot password?" exists. Until now there was no way to reset a password at all.

ABOUT PLANS
Families who already use Tipje keep what they have: the same limits, and they are never asked to pay.

Families starting from today set up their child, their PIN and their first cards, and then choose a Tipje Family plan: yearly with a 14-day free trial, monthly, or a one-time purchase. The price for your country is shown before you choose anything. Without a plan Tipje stays readable rather than locking you out — every board, all the history, the badges and the peanut balance stay visible, they just cannot be changed.
