After 30 days of not being tipped there is a $100 fee, for not using it. Ok, that’s not accurate. It’s actually *2* apps AND a debit card that are now required to do what Venmo was doing just fine with one simple click. But someone who seems to be in competition with Venmo decided they needed to butt in and get theirs, convinced some upper level fat cats this was the way to go/offered kickbacks, and here we are. We’ve been cahooted. No ability to opt out of Tippy, no longer allowed to have clients Venmo, PayPal, etc our tips. So now in order to get my tips into the account my bills get paid from, I had to link my financial info to yet another app company that I’m now looking forward to getting the “we’ve been hacked and your info was involved” letter from in the future. And I needed another debit card like I need a hole in the head, thanks. The stylists love that they have easy and immediate access to their tip money and as an owner I have easy access to accurate tip reporting and have significantly reduced my credit card processing fees. Please fix this. At least give us the option to have it look like the old way. ### 1/5 — Tippy Scams Your Clients, Kills Your Tips *2023-04-21* The app is ok. It’s easy to use, and the reports are clear and understandable. The problem is the company. In order to access the money you earned, you have to open a bank account at their partner bank. You can’t move your money directly into your own existing bank account. This adds yet another vulnerability point for your financial information, and could potentially affect your credit score. Also, they don’t withhold taxes on tipped income. This puts you at risk of being fined for not reporting quarterly income with the IRS. Also, it charges your clients a surcharge to give you a tip. Our front desk team has seen clients decide not to tip at all because of this charge. It’s also a cumbersome process to guide the clients through the Tippy app, when it’s so much easier to simply add the tip to their credit card charge. I have asked my manager if I could opt out of Tippy. Many of my coworkers hate Tippy and would prefer to have it as a voluntary system rather than required. That’s who ### 1/5 — your company is only using its referral bonus to their benefit *2025-08-08* you can’t set up a direct deposit in app and also charges the client a fee or makes your own tip less than they pay which makes clients not want to use the system. you can’t set up direct deposit through the app, you need to download another app(BRANCH)-make a bank checking account with EVOLVE BANK&TRUST-and then they send you a ‘bank card’ to use your tips or you can transfer that money into your actual checking account. venmo/paypal/zelle/apple pay are much more convenient and you get 100% of your tips rather than this scam of a business ### 1/5 — Profile pic *2025-07-17, version 2.6.7* Please update the app so we can adjust/crop the pic so it isn’t a super close up!!!!! I find this interesting since they charge you $1.06 to tip, instead of free with our previous system… they argue that you can now get your tips daily… was never a concern for me, I prefer not to have access to my tips until my paycheck… Tippy forces you to download another app called Branch to access the money in your tippy account…. The only thing this had going for it was it supposed to show me who was tipping what, all clients names are listed as N/A… which took this from a 2 star to a 1 star review. so my guess is they have to make an account before we see that. Useless app, so many extra steps for no reason but to get peoples info, charges a surcharge to be able to tip. Like the biggest glass of water after a night of partying or a giant fleece blanket the size of Texas on a cold winter night, Tippy arrived on the tipping scene when we all needed it the most. This app is so simple to use, it’s easier than a one-person race. It’s fun, interactive, and makes me feel like a BO$$ when I see my tips piling up throughout the day. Oh, and now that my tips go onto my tip card immediately, it’s just like getting cash without having to go stand in line waiting for Tammy-Take-Your-Time to count her money just to make a deposit.
