Tipsy concentrates on just calculating tips and makes great use of available screen real estate. Only problem is the dollar signs font look like life rings. Fix this and the app would be perfect. My only feedback is that there’s no 22% tip and not customizable and also can only split bill up to 8 people. These limitations has forced me to download and use another app. Please update. ### 4/5 — Pretty great! *2021-01-31, version 4.1* Just like the tag line says, this app does open really quickly. And its calculations are all accurate as far as I can tell. And as of the latest version (and big thanks to the developer for this!), it also supports “calculator layout” for the numbers. For those who might not be familiar with what the “calculator layout” refers to, every standard standard calculator—including the Calculator app that’s built in to iOS—uses this order: 7 8 9 4 5 6 1 2 3 0 (This is also the order that you see on all keyboards with a numpad.) And for people who work with numbers all day, they’ll tend to be more accustomed to keying them in using an interface with calculator order. And as one of those people, this layout really helps a lot. This app is already one of the better tip-calculator apps out there, and there are two other features possibilities that I might like to toss out there: • It could be handy if the app were to let you long-press on the “amount” field to let you either Copy the current value or Paste a number from your clipboard. I’m imagining a scenario where perhaps your hair stylist were to send you a Venmo request and you had wanted to copy that amount from the Venmo app and paste it into this app to figure out the tip. • It’s not uncommon for some physical calculators—and some keyboards’ numpads—to include a dedicated double-zero key (“00”). And for an app like this one that deals with monetary mounts, I think a “00” key could be an ideal addition. That way, if—say—a restaurant meal were to cost $89, you’d only need to tap “8”, “9”, and “00” to calculate the tip, which would be nice. ### 4/5 — Please don’t restrict to USD *2021-01-04, version 4.0* Love the app, great UI/UX. If only it wasn’t restricted to the US. Here’s what I mean: - Some currencies don’t have cents, we round to the nearest hundred typically. We don’t need the .00 at the end. - Some currencies are less valuable and typical restaurant bills are easily in the thousands/ten thousands. - The $ signs throws people off when showing them the result (outside US). :) Updated feedback: Czech koruna and Hungarian forint are good examples I think. Usual tip is 10%. Even simple restaurant bills can be in the thousands/ten thousands easily. ### 4/5 — Missing one thing *2019-03-24, version 2.2* Great app! Love that it’s a Watch Series 4 complication too. However, the one thing that is missing is the ability to NOT tip on the tax. Another app even figures out the tax based on your location. If this had a similar feature it would absolutely be the best one! All of these tip apps always seem to miss one feature. None of them have all the features I need but this is the closest by far: Also a Watch App A Watch series 4 complication Doesn’t tip on the tax <-missing Round the total Easy to enter the amount Easy to enter the tip % (Optional - Split the bill and tip) Add the ability to either enter a tax % or even better do it by location and I’ll gladly give the 5th star. ### 4/5 — Great app! *2018-11-02, version 2.1* Great app easy to use! I’d actually pay money for this if it included a complication for my Apple Watch. ### 5/5 — Well done! *2018-08-14, version 1.0.1* The day I installed this — and the installation automatically added it to my Apple Watch — I used it at dinner. Simple, easy to see, easy to use, and right there on my watch rather than grabbing the phone. I found it easy to read, easy to enter numbers and adjust the percentage of the tip (there are five preset percentages), and easy to “split” the bill between 1 - 4 payers. (Unfortunately my wife declined to split the payment.) The total was also shown, handy for double checking my math, as well as the cost per person if you split the check. Would be really great to see a small display of what your rounded tip percentage is. Example: app is set to rounding tip up to full dollar amount. If set to 20%, next to that clearly show in smaller font what the percentage is of the rounded up tip. Especially on app related content but I am compelled to write this. This app is beautiful on my iPhone 16 Pro & simple on my Apple Watch Ultra 2. The usage of the real estate on the watch is perfect. The app is very easy to use on my watch so if I am using it when I am out paying the bill it’s fast & accurate. I purchased the pro version & enjoy the different flavors we are given to change up the look on the iPhone. I purchased this app mainly for the Apple Watch functionality. I am glad I did.
