### 4/5 — The latest version seems buggy

*2025-07-13, version 1.0*

I haven't played this in several years, and saw someone playing it on YouTube and figured I would see where I left off.

When I ran a couple of my previous solutions, everything executed quickly with no hitches.

But I didn't see the charts for the run summary I saw in the YT video (granted it was a PC copy of the game).

So I thought, huh... I wonder if there is an update that adds those graphs.

So I checked, and there was an update, so I downloaded the latest version...

But now when I run the same solutions that used to execute quickly without any hitches, now seem to freeze and hitch, and is not nearly as smooth as whatever version I had previously downloaded prior to updating.

So I really enjoy this game, but it seems to be broken in its current state for some reason. Please fix the hitches (or restore a previous version that did not hitch).

Previous version was definitely 5 star.
The current state is 4 stars tops, not a great experience.

### 3/5 — Good game, no external keyboard support?

*2025-02-13, version 1.0*

I know this game came out awhile ago, but even then there was hardware keyboard support on the iPad. I just hate that I have to use the onscreen keyboard, it’s so hard to do. Esp. since it’s a desktop game!

### 4/5 — Seems fun, but no keyboard support

*2022-12-30, version 1.0*

This seems like it will be a fun puzzle/logic/programming game but the lack of keyboard is really frustrating. I would like to see the game avoid using the on-screen keyboard, but if a physical keyboard is present allow it’s use.

### 4/5 — Just discovered this gem!

*2021-09-23, version 1.0*

I have been tinkering around with programming in various languages for years and stumbled upon this game while searching for a factory sim for the ipad(something similar to factorial). Anyway, I have been up most of the night working through the puzzles and really enjoying what I have encountered so far. I would definitely give it a solid 4 stars. For a fifth star the devs would have to add keyboard support. With so many options for keyboards for tablets these days as well as the amazing keyboard for the iPad Pro, having to use only the on screen keyboard seems a little clunky. Maybe I am just being picky tho, great game otherwise!

### 3/5 — Magic Keyboard not compatible

*2021-08-03, version 1.0*

I love the game but on iPad it doesn't translate to touch well and the magic Keyboard doesn't work with it

### 3/5 — -2 Stars for NO KEYBOARD SUPPORT

*2021-02-12, version 1.0*

I love this game. I’d honestly give it five stars easy except for the omission of hardware keyboard support. One of the main reasons I have an iPad-Pro is because of the keyboard. As a software developer myself, with experience in iOS, I know for certain that this is some seriously low hanging fruit. Please, add the keyboard support. Although, I see its been over two years now of people begging for it... so, I don’t think anyone is listening

I hope the developer will consider some of their other games for mobile/iOS. It would be great to see Shenzhen I/O in this format (as long as they include keyboard support). ExaPunks would be awesome too!

Thank you.

### 3/5 — Would love for this to fit on iPad mini

*2020-05-09, version 1.0*

Hi, bought this years ago. I keep waiting for an update/fix but perhaps you don’t know there’s an issue. On iPad mini 2, and maybe others? The keyboard appears onscreen cutoff

Would love for it to be shrunk down to fit screen

### 3/5 — Fun Game, Poor Implementation

*2018-07-12, version 1.0*

Love the game, I have it on my PC and MAC. Was really hoping to have it on the go for my iPad but, unfortunately, there’s no external keyboard support. It’s a shame — the game would be flawless with some proper BT keyboard support (maybe hiding the virtual keyboard when an external one is connected, some shortcuts, etc.)

### 3/5 — needs keyboard support

*2018-05-13, version 1.0*

I originally found this game on steam and LOVED IT. To my delight I found it also available for iOS. Please, please, please add support for the smart keyboard. its the only thing really holding this implementation back in my opinion.

### 3/5 — Good game, bummer there’s no keyboard support

*2018-02-15, version 1.0*

This game is really fun, but the lack of support for external keyboards really brings down my impression of it. It would be a MUCH BETTER experience if I could just use my keyboard, which I use for every other typing task on my iPad. Please? :)

### 4/5 — Great game that needs keyboard support

*2017-11-17, version 1.0*

5⭐️ if you don’t own an external keyboard.
3⭐️ if you do.
So frustrating...

### 3/5 — no external keyboard support

*2017-05-20, version 1.0*

Ugh. I wish I would have read the reviews. Please add this!!

### 4/5 — External Keyboard support would make this perfect

*2016-12-15, version 1.0*

Title says it all really. Love the game, but being restricted to the on screen keyboard (as lovely as it is) really holds this back from being fantastic.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — ???

*2021-07-03, version 1.0*

Game is literally unplayable due to only half the keyboard being accessible.

### 1/5 — No keyboard support

*2019-12-26, version 1.0*

As a big fan of Zachtronics and the PC version of TIS-100, I'm disappointed there's no way to use an external keyboard to play this game.

### 1/5 — Pulling defeat from the jaws of victory

*2018-08-28, version 1.0*

Would easily be a 5-star game, but someone decided that the OS keyboard support wasn’t good enough for them and implemented a heavily inferior solution.

Zachtronics really should be annoyed at Metaversal for taking one of the best programming games around and ruining it. I hope they don’t take this debacle as evidence their games aren’t appropriate for iOS, since the problem lies wholly in a gross implementation mistake.

First, lack of hardware keyboard support makes this effectively unplayable on an iPad Pro 12.9” with a keyboard cover. There’s no “typing stand” position with that cover, as it assumes you can use the real keys for any typing, so you’re stuck with the software keyboard flat on the table.

Even ignoring this issue, the “custom” software keyboard they decided to implement for the game isn’t very good compared to the default OS one and changes all the ergonomics while losing all the various features iOS keyboards have developed over the years (splitting, etc.)

At this point, TIS-100P seems unlikely to get a keyboard update, so rating low due to lack of support and lack of hope so that people will stay away—you can see the other reviews where people went from “woohoo” to “this blows” when they didn’t get that warning.

Hate to do so, though, because it’s the only actual zachlike on the App Store. I hope someone defies my expectations and fixes this. I really hope this won’t be the last Zachtronics title just because someone decided they knew how to do keyboard input better than every other app on the OS.

### 1/5 — Such a cool idea... poor iOS implementation

*2017-06-25, version 1.0*

This has the makings of a fantastic puzzle game for programmers and enthusiasts, alike. However, if you don't add external keyboard support I am going to lose my mind. How do you make an app that REQUIRES typing and expect people to be satisfied. I originally purchased this on steam and liked it so much I bought it again for my iPad... Now I'm wanting my money back.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work on ipad mini

*2017-05-14, version 1.0*

The keyboard doesn't even fit in my ipad mini screen this app is garbage don't buy it, still no fix after multiple reports

### 1/5 — Keyboard

*2017-03-15, version 1.0*

Support. External. Keyboards.

### 1/5 — does not allow to use your ipad-pro keyboard

*2016-10-10, version 1.0*

* You are forced to use the cumbersome self-build keyboard and type on your ipad's glass screen. Please support the iPad-pro keyboard
* It's iPad only. It would be nice to also use this on my iPhone 7 Plus

### 1/5 — Interesting, but...

*2016-04-17, version 1.0*

Since you are programmers, how about....

1. Make the text a legible size, or allow me to adjust. I have 20/20 vision. And a brand new iPad with Retina display.

2. Allow for the entire keyboard to fit on the screen. This didn't even matter for me since I can't read anything, but I'm guessing for those who can see what's going on it's pretty frustrating.

Wish I was playing your (potentially) fun game instead of running Q A for you. :(

Until such time as your well-marketed game actually works...'

Oh, and while you all are working with that, can I get my $$ back?

Signed,

Your testing dept. at large.

### 2/5 — Keyboard is a must for typing

*2025-01-05, version 1.0*

For a key about programming, lack of keyboard support is a big show stopper for enjoyment.

### 2/5 — It seems cool but can't figure it out

*2018-09-04, version 1.0*

I wish there was a tutorial or a simple level so people that have no idea what this is can learn...

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2025-04-04, version 1.0*

I’ve found out recently that I absolutely love to program things, even though I have no experience in it, nor do I know any programming languages aside from assembly code. I found this gem and it’s amazing, scratches the programming itch I have, and makes it fun. Definitely worth every cent.

### 5/5 — Who cares about the keyboard?

*2020-06-17, version 1.0*

I bought this app to support the developer because there are simply no apps that even come close to trying to help you understand computer science. The concept is easily five stars and I hope they keep delivering.

### 5/5 — You’ll love it.

*2020-01-02, version 1.0*

Analytical problem solving sounds a bit boring, but this is awesome. Coding experience not necessary, an ability to think analytically and systematically is. The language is very simple with only a few commands and the process of first solving a problem and then refining your solution to be faster or more elegant is addictive. Worth a go if this sounds interesting to you.

### 5/5 — Great Game

*2019-05-03, version 1.0*

Love this game. Runs great on my iPad.

### 5/5 — Most nerd fun I've had in a long time

*2018-08-13, version 1.0*

It seems like it shouldn't be nearly as fun as it is. I never finish games, I'll finish this one.

### 5/5 — Please add keyboard support!

*2018-06-25, version 1.0*

Had it on PC already. Bought it again on iPad. It's a great game, and I would probably play this version more if not for the lack of hardware keyboard support. Please, please, please add it in an update.

### 5/5 — Logical, fun, and educational!

*2017-11-28, version 1.0*

This is an amazingly wonderful game. It does its job without a lot of unnecessary graphics and garbage. A programming puzzle game... GENIUS!!!

### 5/5 — this is unique

*2016-11-30, version 1.0*

you don't see something like this often on the App Store

### 5/5 — Half the keyboard is still missing

*2016-06-03, version 1.0*

What a shame such a polished looking app is so faulty. Also the manual should be accessible from inside the app.

### 5/5 — Excelent

*2016-02-29, version 1.0*

If you know some programming you will be delighted, if not, expect a somewhat steep learning curve.

I agree with previous reviews, please, please! bring back Spacechem. (Just remove the silly obstacles in the layout pane, the game was challenging enough without being concerned with the burden to find enough space to accommodate the blocks)

Great job!
