### 5/5 — 🔏Must Have essential security aid for iOS (UPDATE)

*2023-04-29*

I downloaded This tool years ago and it’s been on all my devices- testing and personal- as an essential web tool, especially these days with web apps being everywhere. It’s helped me trace down all sorts of inconsistencies, unexpected behavior, and hands down shady stuff… all through the iOS share sheet! From simple double checks out of safety, to hunting down a rotten CA issue this app never fails. Thank you to the dev for keeping it updated and for designing such a great tool. Wish I wrote this 4 years ago when I starting using this!

UPDATE: It’s been a few years and this app has grown to something better than I ever expected. This dev KNOWS certs. I mean, really knows. This isn’t just some easily coded generic utility tool app. You won’t find any other cert apps anywhere near as advanced as this.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2023-04-05*

Using “Google” chrome browser which sometimes a “Website” have a warning Icon on my “address” which technically says the website Protection “outdated”…This “app” on the other helps me check out (inform) what “security” issues this website having (like “dollar general” store, a website legit but their security protection is a bit outdated).

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2023-03-07*

I'd been battling some issues with SSL server certs working on Windows but not on IOS. Apples messages were totally useless in diagnosing. This tool on the other hand instantly diagnoses the issues.

### 5/5 — Check those certs!

*2022-05-27, version 2.5.0*

For those of us needing to check the validity of certificates on mobile, this does the job. Oh, and the devs update notes on the latest release are a welcome change to just seeing “bug fixes” that other devs provide. We’ll done, guys and thanks for including the message on right wingers trying to suppress reproductive rights in the U.S. 👍🏻

### 5/5 — A Must Have; essential security aid for iOS that I’ve used for years!

*2022-03-22, version 2.4.9*

I downloaded This tool years ago and it’s been on all my devices- testing and personal- as an essential web tool, especially these days with web apps being everywhere. It’s helped me trace down all sorts of inconsistencies, unexpected behavior, and hands down shady stuff… all through the iOS share sheet! From simple double checks out of safety, to hunting down a rotten CA issue this app never fails. Thank you to the dev for keeping it updated and for designing such a great tool. Wish I wrote this 4 years ago!

### 5/5 — Super simple tool that tells me everything I need

*2021-10-24, version 2.4.6*

A lovely simple tool that tells me everything I want to know about a site and it’s certificates plus encryption status. Fast, simple to use, and does one thing really well - telling you about your certificates and their chain of trust. I am using it to both keep an eye on my own certificates and chain of trust as well as use on sites that I may have doubts about the veracity of the site and wish to confirm that the source is who they claim to be. Keep up the great work - thanks for making my life easier - Peter

### 5/5 — Awesome to begin with and awesome in continuing development

*2021-05-08*

A very useful tool. Developer could have stopped working on it long ago but not only corrected and added things, but also applies updates when technology, methods, and practices change over time. Keep up the good work!

### 5/5 — Great app. Exactly what I was looking for

*2020-05-10*

I work with websites, DNS and SSL certs every day and this tool provides all of the information I need, quickly, on my cell phone, instead of loading in Chrome or Firefox and trying to find it all. Perfect for my needs. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Should come with iOS

*2020-04-25*

Great tool that everyone should have installed. Seriously, I don’t know why this isn’t baked into iOS. Everyone should be able to inspect certificates of the sites they visit, and this app adds the feature nicely. You don’t need to switch to the app, either. You can inspect certs of the sites you’re visiting from safari.

### 5/5 — A super simple tool that everyone should have

*2020-02-04, version 2.0.1*

Given this sort of thing is a feature built in to a lot of modern web browsers, it’s invaluable to be able to bring in this functionality to iOS as a whole. Exceptionally useful tool that does exactly what it says on the tin.

### 5/5 — Honest app.!! <3.

*2019-12-20*

Amazing app!! Did as good as the other top tools. Simple honest. I didn’t have any issues with my phone or battery after installing it. No lag. !! I did want to ask for the developer to contact me I have a couple questions 😊thank you.
                          Natalie D.

### 5/5 — TLS 1.3 support! W00t!

*2019-11-23*

Supports TLS 1.3 via OpenSSL in the advanced preferences. Responsive devs! (Previously I reviewed a lack of 1.3 support. I was wrong.)

Great tool!

**Developer response:** TLS 1.3 is supported if you change the Crypto Engine to OpenSSL in the advanced settings. iOS does not use TLS 1.3 by default yet.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — I’m black and I’m tired of seeing these politics in apps

*2021-04-28*

Nobody wants to talk about the gangs in my neighborhood like black on black violence. If a black officer shot and killed a black man/woman is not racism. If white officer shot and killed a black man/woman its racism. Logic is dead. Go ahead, report this is as a racist review. Just shows the cancel culture exists.

Edit - reply to dev’s response
Thank you and of course, I already did that before the review. I don’t support racism and discrimination, gaslighting or hypocrisy (:

You’re welcome to ignore this review.

**Developer response:** You're free to not use my app. Goodbye!

### 1/5 — Kindly avoid asinine, expedient political grandstanding in update logs!

*2021-04-26, version 2.4.0*

Perhaps you are unaware of this fact, but the update log is intended for update information, not expedient political grandstanding! I downloaded this ap for The purpose _apparently_ as defined in its description (i.e. in order to inspect networks), not to provide a convenient soapbox for your egocentric appeasing of conscience, Genuine or otherwise!

App deleted!

### 1/5 — Failed security assessment

*2020-12-22*

Audit of this application complete. Multiple security issues were found during assessment.

**Developer response:** This is an open source app that doesn't handle any personal information.

Go bother somebody else.

### 1/5 — Stopped Apple

*2019-12-20, version 1.9.6*

This app is unauthorized

### 1/5 — App locks up, non functional

*2018-06-11*

Ver 1.7.1. App locks up after showing green icon on certificate and server.

**Developer response:** Hi. I'm sorry you're having problems with the app, we'd love to fix this issue. Please email us at hello@tlsinspector.com with the domain and we'll take a look.

### 3/5 — Needs to be updated and fixed

*2024-12-15, version 2.8.1*

This is a great useful app when it works, unfortunately its share extension “inspect website” never works with me because of my higher ping and slower internet speed due to using a double hop VPN connection

### 3/5 — Wow

*2024-06-07*

Its great so far

### 3/5 — No longer good

*2022-07-18*

Used to work well for some time but now it no longer works. Sad though…

**Developer response:** Hello, can you please submit feedback through the app and explain what isn't working for you. Thank you.

### 4/5 — App freezes

*2022-05-27, version 2.5.0*

Today I just got an update. I used nytimes.com to share certificate chain. The app froze.

### 5/5 — App crash issue has been fixed.

*2026-04-12*

The latest update has fixed the app crash issue and I’m very pleased with how quickly the developers fixed the issue! I hope the developers continue to make this app a great and helpful app to have!

**Developer response:** Thank you for the kind words!

Bundle updates aren't critical and it won't negatively impact the app or any results if they're a few months out of date.

## Most praised reviews (9 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Essential tech utility

*2025-11-26*

I’ve been using TLS Inspector for years now. Part of my job is managing cert renewals and other security related components for company resources. I use TLS inspector to help validate certificates, including making sure the correct cert is being served and expiration times, etc. from public internet on my phone.

This app does exactly what I need with no fluff or bloat and without drowning me in ads. I consider it an essential tool in my tool belt.

Highly recommend.

### 5/5 — 2025 UPDATE! Must Have essential security aid for iOS 🔐

*2025-05-31*

2025 UPDATE: It's been at least 10 (!) years since I've been using this app. Times have changed since then (And thankfully, server configurations) It remains unmatched in purpose, functionality, stability, and expertise. Recently there was a massive implementation of something NO OTHER APP does; device CA root certificate updating. Yup, it peeks where no other app dares- Except pretty shady ones. I trust this developer, and appreciate the thought and coding needed to get there.

I downloaded This tool years ago and it’s been on all my devices- testing and personal- as an essential web tool, especially these days with web apps being everywhere. ### 5/5 — Great Tool

*2025-01-26, version 2.8.2*

One thing I noticed that the Brave browser has that Safari doesn’t have as standard is the ability to check a sites certificate, with this app Safari has that ability too. Many thanks to the developer for this great app!

### 5/5 — Good stuff, thank you!

*2024-09-01*

Complete info well presented.

### 5/5 — Super Handy. Thanks!!

*2024-08-04, version 2.8.0*

Every now and then you find a little App that does one thing and one thing well. If you’re technical and do you want to inspect certificates for websites but use iPadOS or iPhone, this app is for you.

### 5/5 — UPDATED!🔏Must Have essential security aid for iOS

*2024-04-29*

UPDATE: Still going strong, thanks to this app over the years I’ve been able to learn about cert chains in the Apple server environment on device!

I downloaded This tool years ago and it’s been on all my devices- testing and personal- as an essential web tool, especially these days with web apps being everywhere. ### 5/5 — Would have been six stars

*2024-01-12*

I wanted to add an extra star for fixing the bug where the passenger door kept falling off.

### 5/5 — Great app but get error messages lately.

*2023-08-14*

This is a great app the allows you to view a website’s security certificate and I think this ability should be built in to safari but for some reason it’s not. But lately every time I try to check for certificate bundle updates I get the error message “failed to securely check for TLS bundle updates please check for pending updates for TLS inspector in the AppStore.” but currently their are no app updates available on the AppStore so I really hope this issue is fixed soon.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the kind words!

Bundle updates aren't critical and it won't negatively impact the app or any results if they're a few months out of date.

### 5/5 — Clever implementation tool for iOS

*2023-05-02*

I lived too long without a direct cert tool. This was the answer. TLS 1.3 support pushed this over the top. Outstanding ease of use and small footprint. Others would do well to take notice of this developer.
