The company is meant to keep your deposit safe, but they’re tricking you into thinking you need this app, which just happens to offer you lots of affiliated services. It was a complete waste of my time, downloading this app, finding that it doesn’t work on my phone due to not being able to access the buttons off screen, contacting the company to find another way to ‘ register’ the deposit, being asked for details that I don’t have because I can’t ’register’ using the app. Eventually I found their website and accessed my deposit information on there. There was no option for ‘registering’ the app as that’s clearly not a real thing. You don’t need this app and you don’t need to register anything. Your deposit has been placed in the scheme and that’s it. Log in again again at the end of your tenancy and don’t waste your time on this pointless scammy app. **Developer response:** Hi Mio, We’re sorry to hear the app didn’t work as expected on your device — that’s understandably frustrating, and we’re continuing to improve compatibility across a wide range of phones. We can see our app has not had any issues since Jun 25. Just to reassure you, your deposit is fully protected regardless of whether you use the app. The app simply makes it easier to view and manage your deposit details and access support during your tenancy. Yes we do provide access to additional services through the app, but these are entirely optional and clearly presented as such. Many thanks, The tlyfe team ### 1/5 — Useless, misleading, unnecessary *2024-11-20* I received an email from TDS stating to activate my deposit protection account, either do it on their website or use this app by entering a code. Nowhere in the app is there a place to enter a code. Entered it into various text fields, nothing. I contacted support asking where I need to enter this code to activate my deposit, no response. Some words are not even spelt correctly, like “Propery Alerts”. Some text fields aren’t programmed correctly, like not being able to delete all characters in a text field because it keeps re-inserting the first character when you try to delete it (meaning you have to type a character, then go behind the new character and delete the first character which is a joke). The advertising is misleading and not transparent, like telling me in the email about building my credit score and on the website, which after digging is actually an excessively priced subscription. The characters in all the marketing art are highly creepy. After no response from the support in the app, I search online and find out you cannot activate it in the app anyway, as you need to do it on the website first and THEN use the app, despite the email about activating the deposit saying “the easiest way to do this is with” this app… I’ve had many tenancies including with TDS and never had a problem, until they’ve launched this tlyfe mess that has overcomplicated the 1 job they have, while tenants already have enough stress and things to do when moving home. Poor. Avoid the app and just use the website if all you’re looking for is to activate your deposit protection account. **Developer response:** Hi there, We're sorry to hear about the trouble you had activating your deposit protection, and for the number of issues you ran into along the way — this clearly wasn't the experience we want for our tenants, particularly at an already stressful time like moving home.
