Perfect game

I absolutely love this game it’s super addictive and I’ve played it for about a week now and Delta Echo Alpha are my maxed out Beginning squads I love the games concept but I wish their was more to the tech tree’s for each country for the non unlimited version besides that it’s perfect

It’s In A Dilemma

To The Trenches, is a really in-depth & high quality game just off a glance. Before I go on to say why I gave a 2 star, I do just want to say how beautiful the game is, the artstyle is beautiful & is absolutely stunning, far surpassing any other game I’ve seen on the app store. The fact you have your own officer system with medals is something I find super neat, & the inclusion of wind for the extra skill usage of high-arc support is another neat detail. The developers are really communicative & are very happy to accept suggestions, which is the biggest green flag. They are indie too, so they deserve the support! Wonderful SFX & VFX too!

However, the gameplay is undeniably horrible & you would at most get about 10 hours from the game. Even if it’s paid so you may progress farther into the tech tree.

The game lacks any proper form of strategy or thinking in-game, & all you do is spam your varying abilities of artillery, planes, mortars or gas without any thought, too so your other perks that give buffs mindlessly. The gameplay is closer to that of cookie clicker than it is to any old school RTS. For instance, the other Trenches 2D top-down game made by another indie group has horrible graphics, & is really poorly made, focusing instead on useless additions rather than adding on to the core gameplay, however it is arguably better gameplay wise due to the single fact you can move units back & forth to capture trenches. Upgrading your platoon stats is really boring & from a player perspective is particularly negligible to any difference, the pricing getting linearly higher is just a sorry excuse to increase the grind.

There is simply no goal for you to accomplish in each battle, there is no grand offensive, you merely sit there until the AI is done sending all its units at you, or you can just spam charge & win, even on higher difficulties it is so incredibly boring due to the lack of a goal & the lack of critical thinking required.

I feel as though the developers of this game keep trying to remedy this boring gameplay loop by trying to add new things, or adding more purchasables for your coins. I personally disagree, as with each new ability, you would probably only spend 10 minutes looking at it then uninstalling the app.

Other nitpicks being:
You can hardly see how nice infantry looks on a phone-screen, but that cant really be helped though. They are very hard to spot.
The machinegunner feels like its shooting wet paper at enemies & I do believe to this day it is a waste of a purchase.
The manual controls when you hold down your finger to manually send your infantry at a direction is practically meaningless & offers no advantage whatsoever in real gameplay.
Grenades are very niche & most battles can be won by just tank spamming & ability spamming.

My personal suggestion is to add some form of campaign. Large, long maps which you need to make your way through. Anything to add a bit more strategy. Maybe add L.O.S.

Make infantry slow, vulnerable, let me guide them behind berms to avoid enemy fire or letting them take cover in craters.

Enhance the real dangers of no mans land: machineguneers, fatigue, artillery, mud, darkness, weather, snipers & terrain.

I’d like to see a DLC of sorts, where you are underneath as one of the German pioneers, or Entente sappers under the Western Front engaged in tunnel warfare.

As it stands, until gameplay can be suitably changed to something requiring strategy and planning, I wouldn’t suggest spending money, but you should check it out!

Very good game

This is a very fun game and it is a very well made WW1 game. It would be five stars but all the main things that you would think you could do off looking at the images in the App Store you must my a pass for $10. Overall though if you buy that it is a very fun game. 👍

Best strategy mobile game

Best mobile game I’ve played in such a long time there aren’t many games like this that’s what makes this game so special and all the other options you could choose from make this game perfect

The game won’t load

I’m a mobile user and I downloaded the game because it looked fun but when I tried loading in it was just a permanent black screen no matter how long I waited. I hope this gets fixed soon thanks!
