This one is too basic and does little to enhance customer experience. I did not like having to register before I could see how the app worked. So having done so I used it. Booking was easy but did not produce a taxi at the right time. I happened to see a cab and got him to pick up my booking number. The receipt came through with no fee shown. Two emails have failed to receive a reply. Won’t be using again. In fact will probably not use the company again. ### 1/5 — Erk *2018-07-13, version 30.1.2* Firstly bastards don’t even come they’d be quick enough to take the money though ### 1/5 — It’s not great *2018-03-02, version 30.1.1* While the app itself isn’t bad in terms of what other taxi companies offer it’s very outdated. The layout and design aren’t he nicest looking in the first place. The tracking was very confusing as well. Most other apps will say a car hasn’t been dispatched and won’t let you look at the map. This map just shows you on the map and your route go in no indication of where the car is if it even has been dispatched. Payment was also taken from me as soon as it was booked. Had to cancel the booking as taxis just weren’t available due to the weather so after waiting half and hour decided to walk. However I had to called up to enquire about a refund and they said the money will be back in my account in a few days. Should be that payment is taken as soon as the booking is completed just like all other taxi companies so if cancellations happen there is no waiting for money to be returned. ### 1/5 — Doesn't work *2017-02-12, version 23.0.0* Half the time it crashes with "unknown error". Otherwise can't find nearby addresses. ### 1/5 — Pointless exercise *2015-04-28, version 21.10* The app works fine. Unfortunately, the whole system falls over when the people on the other end take over, or don't take over more to the point. 3 times in a week I booked taxis via the app. On all 3 occasions I had to phone them after the booking time had passed. Twice the taxi had not been despatched at all and the final occasion the app saif that my taxi would be there in 178 minutes, which was 5 minutes after it was due. Worst part is when I phoned, they said "you should have called us". You have to ask, what was the effing point of paying to develop the app? ### 1/5 — Too many bugs *2014-10-19, version 10.0.0* Lots of connection and sync issues. I know another company in Glasgow that uses same app template and it works brilliantly, sort it out! ### 1/5 — Does not work *2013-12-23, version 10.0.0* Asks for payment method but does not allow input ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Poor App Cost me money. *2024-12-19, version 40.2410.1* I tried cancelling well before the taxi was confirmed but the app was dicking around and wouldn’t allow me to, showing an error message every time so I ended up incurring a cancellation charge. ### 1/5 — Worthless, Uber is more reliable *2024-10-24, version 40.2306.1* Booked a pickup from NEC Premier Inn to the train station, after 15 minutes the taxi was assigned, tracked him for 10 minutes then the driver decided to reject it, waited another 20 minutes for a driver to be assigned and nothing. What’s the point or assigning and then letting your drivers reject it half way to the pick up. Went for Uber and guess what, driver was at the front door within 2 minutes and cost less than half the estimated price. There’s a reason taxi firms are losing out to Uber, it’s not because they are cheaper, it’s because they provide better customer satisfaction and attention. Sort your drivers out and make them stick to their assigned pick ups. ### 1/5 — Badly let down *2023-12-15, version 40.2306.1* This firm took a booking via this app to get my disabled father to my brother’s wedding. They confirmed the booking by telephone the day before. When the car didn’t arrive, they explained that their service didn’t cover my father’s area. I have never known a business be so careless and indifferent of causing such sadness. ### 1/5 — Couldn’t get it to work *2023-01-06, version 40.13.75* Hoping to order a taxi using the app but after several attempts at getting the login code required to sign up (via sms) it is now saying the mobile number has ‘been blacklisted’, so I’ve deleted it. ### 1/5 — Where’s Soilhull? *2022-06-13, version 40.13.75* Awful app to use. Spelling mistakes. Gives you a price range then immediately charges you the maximum. Hateful. ### 1/5 — Too many problems *2022-03-14, version 40.13.75* I’ve never had an issue with minicab apps, so thought I’d try a taxi app. There appears to be no way to get a price or estimate without booking. In fact, on one occasion, app told me to ring the TOA office as no price could be confirmed. It wouldn’t let me select cash on one occasion. Too many glitches. Others I asked to try said the same. ### 1/5 — Blacklisted *2021-12-12, version 40.8.1* I have no idea why my mobile phone number has been blacklisted. I have never used the app before😏 ### 1/5 — App failed, and charged twice *2021-08-31, version 40.8.1* Tried to book a trip but as far as I could tell it hadn’t worked. So tried again. Cab came, driver had name etc, got in. Then got phone call en route from a second driver booked for same job. I explained the app issue. Then head office rang. Explained again. Got charged twice (2 different amounts). ### 1/5 — Taj *2020-10-07, version 30.2.5* Still not working on iPhone 11 ### 1/5 — It would be easier to wait outside and hail than use this god awful app *2020-08-15, version 30.2.5* No google lookup for address. No wander Uber is taking market share. The quality of this app reflects the quality of the vehicles TOA use, old, tires and quite frankly not fit for purpose. ## Most praised reviews (7 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Reliable! *2024-02-08, version 40.2306.1* Pre-booked T.O.A. to get to the station for an early departure to get to the airport as I thought it would be more reliable than some of the other taxi companies that often cancel at the 11th hour… I made the right choice! I got an app notification when it was on its way, it arrived early & waited patiently, got me there in great time & was cheaper than the other options I had. You can use Apple Pay too which is always helpful. ### 5/5 — Excellent app *2016-11-19, version 23.0.0* In Birmingham for weekend and needed to organise a taxi at 1 hours notice to get to Barclaycard Arena. Downloaded this app off the T.O.A Taxis website; really easy to use and taxi arrived on time. Didn't book taxi for return journey as not sure what time show finished so used app for a 2nd time. Traffic near arena was gridlocked and app gave estimate of 10 mins for taxi to arrive but it arrived 5 mins early. Both drivers really friendly & taxis were clean; wouldn't hesitate to use this firm or app again when next in Birmingham. ### 5/5 — Looks like a good update... *2015-02-28, version 21.10* This is a really useful app though it's had it's fair shar of problems over the last year. The update looks really good and the "Choose Type of Vehicle" now includes TX (old style taxis)... I hate vans with a passion! App allows you to book a cab ASAP or a specific time. Nice that you can store favourite locations. The requested text back and track my cab facility didn't work, but it did arrive very promptly and the driver called me to say he was outside. Also the booking stayed showing as live on the app well after being dropped off, until I manually cancelled it. Given that this app has only just been launched, first experiences were that it worked well and I'm sure the few minor issues like cab tracking and text back will be sorted in time. ### 2/5 — Too much hassle *2018-03-14, version 30.1.1* Most of the drivers were fine except for the one who drove twice the required distance and then charged me for it! The app was unable to pinpoint exact locations so every time I had drivers phoning to find out where I was. BUT the last three weeks there have been connection issues every single time I've tried to use it - have to ring up the out fashioned way!
