## What is Toad Tutor?

An MTG toolkit for Commander, Standard and casual players: a deck builder, a booster pack opener, a card scanner with collection tracking, and a life counter.

DECKS
- Build with a Mainboard, a Maybeboard and a Command zone, and pick the printing for every card
- Import a pasted list or a deck from Moxfield, Archidekt or TappedOut; export to Moxfield, Arena, MTGO or plain text
- Every Commander deck gets a bracket from 1 to 5, worked out for you and yours to override
- See the combos already in your deck and the ones it is one card away from, powered by Commander Spellbook
- Mana curve, legality checks, sample hands and a playtest board

BOOSTER PACKS
- Open simulated packs from over a hundred sets, dealt from the published print sheets where they exist
- Rip the pack open, reveal the cards, and see what the pull is worth next to the price of the pack
- Check the odds for every card in a set, and keep a history of your pulls

SCAN AND COLLECT
- Point your camera at a card to identify it, pick the printing, and add it to your collection or a deck
- Track what you own, including foils, which decks use each card, and its value in your own currency
- Import a collection from a ManaBox or Moxfield CSV
- Share a screenshot of a card into Toad Tutor from another app and file it straight into a deck

PLAY
- A life counter for 1 to 6 players with commander damage, poison and other counters, Monarch and Initiative
- Friends join the game from their own phones with a QR code, and anyone can watch from a live link
- Dice, coins and a counter pad, plus Commander pods, Swiss rounds and a round timer for events
- Search every printed card, with prices, rulings and legalities
- Ask a rules question and get an answer that cites the Comprehensive Rules
- Game night reminders attached to your decks

COMMUNITY
- Explore public decks and custom cards from other players
- Publish your own decks, or share them privately with friends

PROXIES
- Print a proxy sheet for any deck: a 3x3 PDF at A4 or Letter, a zip of PNGs, or MPC-ready files with bleed
- Design your own custom cards in the card editor

Browsing is open, no account needed to look around. A free account (13+) unlocks opening packs, saving decks, your collection, rules questions and sharing.

Toad Tutor Premium is optional: monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in your App Store account settings; a one-time Lifetime option is also available. Every feature works without it.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 2.8 — 2026-09-25

New
An Analysis page plays your deck 10,000 times and shows keepable hands, when the deck gets going, and which cards you can cast.
Owners get measured suggestions, a swap finder, and a Your lands section that tests which land swaps speed up your games.
Decks under 60 cards open with a start panel of theme chips and recommended cards, ranked by how well they fit your commander's themes.
The life counter is redesigned, with Compass and Row card styles and a drawer holding each seat's Monarch, Initiative, commander damage and counters.
The life counter adds a chess clock, priority passing, Rules Lookup with voice input, and hand off to another device by QR code.
Meetups and Places let you find game nights at local stores, RSVP, add them to your calendar and check in with friends.
Meetup hosts can tag meetups with house rules and repeat them weekly; tags filter the list, and meetup notifications have their own switch.
Profile badges now appear beside names throughout the app.
Live Art keeps custom art in your decks in step with its card project, and a badge shows when it is updating or removed.
Edit Tags suggests common tags from the card's role and your deck's themes, plus tags already used elsewhere in the deck.

Improved
Add to Deck now works from Collection, Card Usage, Cmd+K, opened packs, Pulls, Secret Lair and decks you are viewing.
Search bars across the app understand Scryfall syntax, the + menu builds searches from plain sentences, and the deck library finds decks containing a card.
Switch Printings' All at once view shows a panel per card, with View and Fill All menus and art from Community, Yours or Saved.
Wizards open over the page you are on, and New deck asks format and commander together, prefilling the name from a pasted link.
In Stacks, a single pile now spreads across the row, and the commander card matches the size of the others.
Owners see how many people saved their item, and each save sends them an anonymous notification.
Opening card details from a deck is about twice as fast, and bulk edits save in less than half the time.
Card scanning recognizes more cards and no longer gives confident wrong answers.

Fixed
On phones, tapping the minus side of a life total now lowers life instead of raising it.
The sample hand no longer deals your commander.
Pulls now show sharp card images instead of blurry thumbnails.
Explore's Saved and Liked now show everything you saved or liked, not only items on the first page.
On iOS the sign-in sheet no longer sits behind the keyboard.
A global tag with the same name no longer hides or duplicates a deck's own tag.

### 2.6 — 2026-09-13

The card scanner now reads a card's name as well as its art, so it can identify cards from a screenshot and find them in a fraction of a second.
Deck building gains a Stacks view and free arrangement in every view.
Booster packs open far faster, more packs carry real photos, and your public profile now shows your cards, assets and groups.
Foil cards are marked in lists, and card art loads properly on iPhone again.

### 2.5 — 2026-09-09

Booster packs and Secret Lair boxes now open on screen, decks gain history and CSV export, and a long list of fixes

New
Booster Sets: browse any set as packs, open one on screen, and see the chance behind every card it can deal.
Secret Lairs: every drop as a box you can open, with its card list and price.
Your pulls keeps every card you have opened, with what you spent and what it is worth.
Deck History: browse a deck's changes over time and compare any two points.
Export a decklist or your collection as CSV, and see your collection's total value.
Sort the deck library, and duplicate or rename a deck from its menu.
Deck builder shortcuts for quantity, zone moves, removing a card and stepping through views.
The deck page shows its combo count and a panel naming every card that breaks a format rule.
A home page you can search from, plus new About and Support pages.

Improved:
Prices show in your chosen currency everywhere, and Auto is now a choice that names the currency it picked.
Settings switches, per-deck view choices, saved frames and pack pulls follow your account instead of one browser.
Foil cards catch the light under your pointer on every screen, and card grids are lighter to scroll.
Bigger touch targets, room made for the on-screen keyboard, and pull to refresh on your library lists.
The deck page footer and toolbar keep one set of controls at every width, with counts that stop truncating.

Fixed:
Mana symbols draw correctly again instead of smearing on some devices.
Projects open with their cards and covers again instead of looking empty.
The Maybeboard is no longer counted into a deck's card totals, type breakdown or value.
Cards from sets that have not been released yet are no longer marked illegal.
Hearts on Explore save again, with a real count beside them.
Public deck pages full of combos load instead of hanging.
