This one is GREAT. Custom times available, screen starts out black with small strip of blue showing time as it passes (in seconds). At lower time chosen, screen is green, very visibly, with discreet vibration. Halfway through, yellow, vibrate maybe slightly differently. At max time, screen turns red, vibration, then the counting continues until you stop it. My phone did not "sleep". When I manually made it sleep there was no vibration - but the color had changed when I woke it back up. The counting had continued. The counting also continued when I used another app and then returned. No, there was no vibration when I was in the other app. The app is simple, and pretty easy to figure out. Just don't be using other apps when you're timing, and don't turn your phone off (sleep), and keep the brightness down to save battery , and this is a great app. ### 4/5 — Nearly perfect *2016-01-05* Great tool. Love that it integrates withToastmasters Table Topics. Needs ability to erase individual reports. I get to see the screen for about one second then it crashes. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but it no longer opens. ### 1/5 — Version 1.4.1 broke everything useful *2017-12-01* Edit: Version 1.4.1 completely eliminated the color changing screen! At least on my iPhone 6+, making this app worthless. Adding ADVERTISING which steals my expensive cellphone data is offensive. I guess Derrick Ho has spoken. Sad. If I still had my Apple Developer Kit, I'd write y'all a FREE program to just time speakers and pop up colors. That's all we need! Ho had it almost right, then he went crazy on us here. Bummer. Previous versions: Nagging for review loses a star. Pretty good. A couple of places are confusing and don't start the timer when you'd think it would. Hosed a couple of speakers. Nice that it disables the screen-off. Nice that it has multiple quick options for the basic speeches, table topics, evaluations. Nice that it's customizable. My speech is 12 to 15 minutes. This needs a way to manually set the minimum and maximum times. **Developer response:** You can move the green pinwheel to 12 and the red one to 15 to achieve what you want. 1) On the initial screen tap the "+" button 2) Tap the newly created row 3) Set the green and red pin wheels to the desired amounts 4) Press start when ready! ### 3/5 — TM Timer *2015-07-27* I would have rated it better than 3 stars. The timer counts slower than a regular timer. Like that it has the automatic colors the vibration does not work as well when color changes. ### 4/5 — Does the job! *2017-04-07* I think the interface could be a little prettier but it works well. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Keeps it simple *2024-11-06, version 1.4.3* I like the preset timer values that work for most Toastmasters functions with the added flexibility of editing time on the fly… The “on the fly” editing gives all the extra flexibility that you need for non-standard speaking times. Also simplifies by automatically setting the “yellow” flag halfway between green and red flags. You can add speaker names in advance and then have a full record ready on your device for your timer’s report. ### 5/5 — Great again, now works with ios15 *2022-07-20, version 1.4.2* Hoping for an update to get this to work again. Update: Working perfectly again! Thank you to the developer for continuing to support the app. Changed my rating to 5 stars to reflect the update. This is the best timer app for Toastmasters and all types of timed activities. Simple yet effective. ### 5/5 — Just plain works! *2020-01-21* Last week I was called on the fly to fill in for an absence and be Timer for the first time. I tried using my phone’s default stopwatch timer, and I found I was nervously paying more attention to the phone and making sure I didn’t miss my prompt to let the speakers know what color stage their speech had reached. Today I used this app instead, and it was amazing! Thanks to the brief vibration and the clear color changes on my screen, I was able to enjoy everyone’s speeches while still being on point with my duties. Edit to add: the custom time options is also excellent, and super easy to use. Thank you! ### 5/5 — Speeches and Steaks *2019-09-16* This is a great timer! I use it for Toastmasters AND cooking. My only beef would be that I'd like it to remember things, store members' names from one meeting to the next.
