## What is Together Notes?

Together Notes looks like the notes app you already know — three panes, instant capture, a fast native editor on Mac and iPhone. Underneath, every note is a plain Markdown file in a git repository you own. That one decision changes everything.

YOUR NOTES ARE FILES
No database, no proprietary format, no export button — because there is nothing to export. Your notes are readable in any editor, greppable, scriptable, and yours forever, even if you stop using the app.

THE REPO IS THE API
Your AI agents already know how to read files and push commits. Ask your agent to save research into your notes, and seconds later it is on your iPhone — formatted, in the right folder. No plug-ins, no API keys, no rate limits. Works with any tool that speaks git, including the ones that don't exist yet.

NOTHING IS EVER LOST
Every change — yours or your agent's — is a commit. Sync keeps a clean, linear history, conflicts are resolved deterministically, and the losing side of any conflict stays reachable in git history. Review what changed. Revert anything.

A NOTEBOOK YOU CAN SHARE
Point two devices — or two people, or a person and an agent — at the same repository and work together. Checklists update live as work completes. Comments are threaded discussions stored in the note itself, so the conversation travels with the document.

A REAL EDITOR
Clean, rich Markdown editing with none of the syntax on screen: headings, checklists, tables, nested lists, images, and a properties panel for frontmatter. Native on every platform — no web views, instant cold start.

SYNC YOU CAN EXPLAIN
Connect any git remote over HTTPS — GitHub, GitLab, your own server — and Together Notes commits, pushes, and pulls automatically. Or start with a local-only notebook and connect a remote later.

ONE PURCHASE, EVERY DEVICE
Try everything free for 3 days. One purchase then unlocks editing permanently on Mac, iPhone, and iPad, with Family Sharing. No subscription. And if you never buy, your notes remain fully readable — they are plain files in your own repository.

PRIVATE BY ARCHITECTURE
Notes sync directly between your devices and your git host. No accounts with us, no servers of ours in the middle, no analytics. Credentials live in your keychain.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 26.9.17 — 2026-09-18

Hidden folders stay put

Together Notes now leaves every hidden folder it did not create alone. A notes repository is a shared directory, and .obsidian, .github, .venv and anything else dot-prefixed belongs to you or your tools — housekeeping never touches it. The app collects only its own leftover attachment folders, identified by what is inside them rather than guessed from the name.

Steadier sync on launch

The first pull after opening a profile now always runs before anything queued behind it, so a sync started right after connecting a repository can no longer overtake it.

### 26.9.10 — 2026-09-11

Folder views

Pin a note property to a folder and every row shows its value as a label — status, owner, due date, whatever your notes already use. Filter the folder by those values, or order it by one property's value. The configuration lives in a file in the folder itself, so it syncs with the repo and your agents can read it.

Faster profile switching

The profile switcher now sits on every list screen, paired with search. Switching back to a profile reopens the screen you left it on.

Copy Markdown

Copy a whole note as Markdown from the note list or the editor's actions menu — the source exactly as it is on disk.

Also in this release

- Note properties and the title save as you type and commit when you tap Done. Edits no longer need Return to stick.
- The properties panel remembers whether you collapsed it, and its header no longer shifts when you toggle it.
- Connecting the same repository twice no longer creates a duplicate profile.
- Folder view settings survive renaming the folder.
- Typing / in the editor now inserts a plain slash. The formatting row above the keyboard offers everything the slash menu did.
