## What is tokenstat?

You run several AI coding agents across several machines. tokenstat puts the whole picture in one place: token usage, what each subscription is really worth, and live control of the work while it runs.

Monitor
- A year-shaped heatmap of your AI usage across every machine and harness, with today and this week at a glance.
- Breakdowns by model, tool, project, and day, so you can see which agent eats most of your allowance.
- See your plan usage at list rates, so you can compare subscription value against API pricing.
- Live plan limits for the tools you run, with when each window resets.

Reach
- Every machine in one list, awake or asleep, reachable from anywhere.
- Start a session on any of eighteen agent harnesses.
- Chat with a workspace agent in Plan, Execute, or Ask mode, and switch models mid-thread.
- Review diffs, commit, and read pull requests with their conversation and checks.
- Tasks, notes, workflows, and automations ride along with each workspace.
- Check a running session, or take the screen and drive it: one finger moves the pointer, and a hardware keyboard works as it should.
- SSH to any server, from the phone and the iPad. Hosts, keys, snippets, and folders live in the sidebar, imported from your own ~/.ssh/config, from AWS, or from DigitalOcean.
- Open a real terminal on your own machines, and start sessions there, on paid plans.

Private by design
Everything happens on your machine. tokenstat reads your local logs, extracts counters, and discards the rest. Only aggregate numbers are eligible for sync, and only when you set it up. No prompts, no file contents, no conversation text ever leaves your devices. Screen sessions and SSH credentials are end to end encrypted, and each device you sign in on has to be allowed by name on the computer it wants to reach.

The heatmap, the machine list, and live control come from computers already running tokenstat, the Mac app or the CLI.
SSH is separate: add a host and you are in, whether tokenstat is on the other end or not.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-09-15

The iPhone and iPad are now a complete way to work: set up a computer, run agents, and review their work.

Setup and home

- Set up a computer from the phone: your own server, a new one at DigitalOcean, or your Mac, with the install running in a real terminal
- Pick folders and clone repositories on a headless machine from the phone
- Home is yours to arrange. Drag the cards into order, switch off the ones you never read, or start from Balanced, Work first or Usage first. Each device keeps its own
- Workspaces arranges the same way: Folders, Recent chats and All sessions in your order, or switched off

Chats

- Half-written messages stay with their conversation, with their attachments, even if you quit the app
- Conversations you opened stay on the device, encrypted, and read fine with no connection. Pin one to Home to keep it close
- Hand work to another device. The draft, the files and your place in the transcript move across
- Sends are safe to retry. A dropped send queues and goes out when the computer is back, and retrying never runs the agent twice
- One search covers the conversations on this device and the computers that are awake, with live answers first

Tasks and automations

- Automation graphs on phone and iPad: build them step by step, draft one from a prompt, and read the run history
- Author scheduled jobs from the phone: the prompt, the schedule, the queue, and the full run history in the computer's own timezone
- Tasks run durably, with one board across the whole computer, and results that link to the folder's changes and history
- If an automation changed in two places, the second save compares instead of overwriting

Editor and review

- The editor gets line numbers, change marks, find and replace, save states, and a warning when the file changed under you
- Edit from diffs, and review every change from the phone
- Commit reviewed files and push reviewed branches from the phone
- Work beside chats and terminals: files, changes and history in a side pane, a resizable browser, and Auto commit from the phone
- On iPad, the browser sits beside your work, the folder tree stays put, and turning the screen keeps your place
- With a keyboard attached, save, find, new and run work as shortcuts, and holding Command lists them all

Devices

- Approving a device explains itself: where the request went, what answers it, and buttons that copy instead of retyping
- Devices shows plan capacity and what each computer runs, with an auto-connect switch per machine. Computers download their own update and restart when idle
- Tapping a computer in the sidebar connects to that computer, not the remembered one
- Generate SSH keys on the device, Ed25519 or ECDSA P-256. These keys never leave the device

Numbers

- Every figure gets its own card with its own icon, on Chat, tasks, workflows, automations, notes, insights and Home
- Codex limits name each allowance: account or model, general or secondary, general first
- Usage, activity and rankings get new dashboards with tables VoiceOver can read

Other small bug fixes and performance improvements

### 0.9.2 — 2026-09-08

- Copy any reply with one tap
- Agents can attach files to the chat. Tap one to preview it, then share or save
- Files over 1 MiB wait for you to tap Download, and what you fetch is cached with a size cap and retention you set
- A chat you started on another device stays current here
- The model picker has a search, and a refresh that re-reads the agent's list
- Agent, model and effort now stay in one panel while you change them
- Face ID or Touch ID unlocks the vault, and no copy of your key leaves your machines
- Notifications hold off while you are watching the conversation
- When a computer cannot be reached, the app names the cause and the fix instead of showing transport errors
- Account settings split into Account, This device and Legal
- Fixes to long transcripts, streaming replies and image previews
- Relayed traffic now shares one allowance: 100 MiB on Free, 1 GiB on Supporter, 5 GiB on Patron, 20 GiB on Legend, over the last 30 UTC days. Direct connections do not count
- Account shows what you have used, this device's own direct and relayed traffic, and when older usage leaves the window
- Every connection says whether it went direct or through the encrypted relay. Terminals and files try direct first now
- On iPad, files open in tabs. A file keeps its text, its cursor and its unsaved changes while you move around the app
- The composer is glass over the conversation. Send appears when there is something to send, a toggle grows the box for a longer message, and you can put the keyboard away
- Recent chats keeps the thread you just used at the top instead of burying it under older unread ones
- Claude's higher effort levels, xhigh and max, are on the picker
- Tap a notification to open what needs you: a terminal waiting on a permission prompt, or the chat that finished
- Send while a turn is running and the message queues. Edit or remove it before it goes, or send now to cut the turn short
- Folders on iPhone and iPad show commit history
- Sessions on iPhone gets the branch picker and the bypass switch
- Opening a chat hides the tab bar, so the composer sits on the transcript
- Sending a message hides the keyboard and jumps to the latest turn
- A file the agent edits is one card named after the file, with later changes marked
- Other small bug fixes and performance improvements

### 0.8.0 — 2026-09-03

Chat comes to the phone, and pull requests come with it.

- Chat is another way into the same agent, a conversation instead of a terminal. Use it on the phone, keep the command line at your desk, or use
  chat everywhere.
- Pull requests get a section of their own. Read the changes, the checks and the conversation, then approve, request changes or merge from the phone.
- The app reconnects on its own to the computer you were last on. Each computer also has a switch, so you can pick one by hand.
- In an SSH session, completion covers paths on the far machine and your saved commands as you type.
- Patron and Legend plans are now available monthly as well as yearly.
