## What is Toll?

Toll puts a price on the apps that take your day.

You earn tokens by doing things that matter. Opening a tolled app costs tokens. When you run out, the barrier comes down.

It is not a blocker. You can always get through — you just have to have paid for it first.

HOW IT WORKS

Plan a few things worth doing. Clear them, and they pay out in tokens. Open one of the apps you chose to limit, and the barrier quotes you a price. Pay it and the app opens for the time you bought.

The rate escalates within a day. The first session is cheap. The fourth one is not. That prices binges without punishing ordinary use.

Unspent tokens expire at 03:00. Yesterday's discipline does not fund today's scrolling.

FOUR WAYS TO PROVE IT

Say it happened, and it pays the base rate.
Attach a photo, and it pays the same — the photo is for you, not for us.
Run a timer while you work, and it pays more.
Let Health confirm the steps or the workout, and it pays the most, and it is the only kind that escapes the daily earning ceiling.

That last one matters. Measured tasks pay best because they are the only ones you cannot simply assert.

MEASURED TASKS

The strongest tier reads Apple Health. Pick what it should count — steps, workout minutes, mindful minutes or stand hours — set your own target, and Toll checks the figure against it before it pays.

Numbers typed in by hand do not count. Toll reads what the sensors recorded, so a measured token tracks something you actually did, and it notices when you reach the target while the phone is still in your pocket.

Nothing is written back to Health. Figures are compared to your target and then discarded — never stored, and never sent anywhere.

WHAT IT DOES NOT DO

No account. No sign-up. No server.

Your tasks, your ledger and your balance live on this phone and stay there. Apple never tells Toll which apps you picked — the system hands over a sealed token, not a name or an icon. We could not see your app list if we wanted to.

There is no leaderboard, no streak to protect, no notification designed to pull you back in. Toll does not praise you for clearing a task and it does not shame you for buying an hour. It quotes a price and records what happened.

THE LEDGER

Every token earned, spent and expired is written down, with the time and the reason. On Sunday it adds up into a receipt: what the week cost, and what paid for it.

PREMIUM

The free version tolls two apps, three tasks a day, and keeps a week of history. Premium removes the limits, adds timed and Health-verified tasks, opens the economy rules to editing, and keeps the full ledger. Available monthly, yearly, or once.

REQUIREMENTS

iPhone on iOS 17 or later. Toll uses Apple's Screen Time permissions, which you grant explicitly and can revoke at any time in Settings. Measured tasks read Apple Health with your permission: steps and workouts come from the iPhone, and stand hours need an Apple Watch.

SUBSCRIPTIONS

Premium is available monthly, yearly, or as a one-time Lifetime purchase. Yearly and Monthly renew automatically until cancelled. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in your Apple Account settings — deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Lifetime is charged once and never renews.
