## What is Tomato Journal?

The Tomato App for Tomato People.

Track every plant you grow, log your harvests, and build a record of your garden that gets more valuable every season. When next year comes around, you'll know exactly which varieties performed, how much you harvested, and what's worth growing again.

GARDEN TAB
Add your plants and arrange them in the order you walk your garden. Document the season as you go — journal entries, photos, and harvest logs, plant by plant.

YIELDS TAB
See your season at a glance — total weight, fruit count, harvest events, and a full log of every harvest across all your varieties. Track your biggest individual tomatoes on the Heaviest Tomatoes leaderboard.

SEASONS TAB
Review each season's full story — harvest timeline, variety breakdown, and side-by-side comparison with previous years. Capture your Season Highlights — now with 7 awards, from Best Tasting to Most Prolific — build your Season Photo Gallery, export everything as a spreadsheet, and turn it all into a shareable Season Wrap.

VARIETIES TAB
Your complete variety history, built automatically from your records. See lifetime yields, average days to maturity, multi-season performance, breeder and series information, seed inventory, and a photo gallery for each variety.

### 5/5 — Outstanding tracking and insights

*2026-09-02*

This is an excellent app for any tomato grower who wants to track plants, seeds, harvests, yields, and so much other stuff. It allowed me to retire my notepad and chicken scratches in the garden and use my phone instead. For spreadsheet jockeys it does a full data export so you can pivot and chart to your heart’s content.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6 — 2026-08-24

Version 1.6 brings a refreshed Season Wrap — your end-of-season recap graphic now features variety-colored highlights, updated styling, and the option to shorten a variety name if it doesn't quite fit.

You can now display weights in ounces and grams, in addition to pounds and kilograms.

This update also includes a number of reliability improvements — including more resilient data saving, fixes to a couple of rare crashes, and the ability to permanently delete your account and data from within the app

### 1.5 — 2026-07-11

What's New in Version 1.5

Every plant now tracks Days to Maturity automatically — see how long each variety took to reach its first harvest, right on the plant card. Compare averages across seasons in the Varieties tab to spot your fastest performers.

Once all your plants for a season are archived, Season Highlights is ready for you — now with 7 seasonal awards instead of 2. Pick your Best Tasting, Favorite New Variety, Most Trouble, and Biggest Disappointment, while Best Yielding, Most Prolific, and Earliest to Harvest are calculated automatically from your data.

When you're ready to celebrate the season, turn it into a Season Wrap — a new customizable graphic with your whole-season stats, awards, and a personal caption, ready to share.

Also in this update: a handful of fixes and polish throughout the app.

### 1.4 — 2026-06-29

Version 1.4 brings a new intro experience, a way to get in touch, and several improvements across the app.

New users are welcomed with a quick tour of the app's core features. And if you ever have a question or want to share feedback, tap Send Feedback in the More tab — we read every message.

Also in this update: a photo gallery for each variety, harvest icons in the plant timeline, and a handful of small fixes throughout.

### 1.3 — 2026-06-20

Version 1.3 brings Recipes and a few new ways to get around the app.

Save your favorite tomato dishes — capture by photo, screenshot, or text, organize into your own categories, and track what you've cooked and how it turned out.
A new More tab is home to Recipes, Settings, and Help, accessible from anywhere. And a dedicated Sharing screen makes it easy to share a harvest from any past date, or send Tomato Journal to a friend.

Also in this update: smoother dropdown menus, clearer tap targets throughout the app, and a handful of small fixes.

Thank you to our early users for your feedback and patience as we keep improving Tomato Journal.

### 1.2 — 2026-06-18

Version 1.2 brings sharing and a new Season Photo Gallery.

Share your harvest directly from any harvest entry — choose a single variety or your full day's haul, pick your photos, and post to Instagram, Facebook, or anywhere you like.

The new Season Photo Gallery lives in each Season Detail view — a dedicated place for photos that tell the story of your whole growing year.

Also in this update: richer plant detail cards, smarter harvest logging with haptic feedback, and batch journal updates now grouped by garden region.
