## What is Tomato Timer?

Tomato Timer is a personal productivity app based on the technique of timeboxing that is designed to help you get things done.

HOW IT WORKS

Tomato Timer helps you complete tasks by chunking the time you spend working into "work sessions", which are punctuated by breaks.
Work for some period of time, then take a break. After a few work sessions, take a longer break.

BASIC FEATURES:

• Turn on notifications to be reminded when to begin your next session
• Configure the length of work sessions, short breaks, and long breaks
• Choose whether the session should automatically start
• Skip and restart sessions, restart timer
• Set a focus for the timer, or use the timer without a list
* Create one project a day that you may edit/delete & recreate.

PLUS FEATURES:

• Unlimited daily projects
• More ways to use the list. Use a basic to-do list or a special type of list called a Session List, which time boxes each task to the work session. Completing the task completes the session, and vice versa.
• Use a Stopwatch Timer instead of the Standard Timer. This timer is useful if you want flexibility around when to start a work or break session.
• Create a project that repeats on a schedule - for example, every weekday.
• Set a notification sound for the break session, and access to more notification sounds
• iCloud Sync
• View past activity and set activity goals. Activity goals represent an intention to do something consistently per day or per weekly for some period of time. Create an activity goal and link it with a timer to track time spent towards achieving your goals!

CLASSIC MODE:

Tomato Timer used to have a different user interface, and you can access that original, more minimal UI by navigating to Settings and turning on "Classic Mode".

### 1/5 — App not working well after last update

*2023-08-28*

Will notify you that the timer went off early or the time won’t move at all. I’ve been a big fan of this app for almost a year now but I had to delete it cause it’s just not working anymore. I’m using it on iPad not on phone cause I don’t want to have to keep checking my phone constantly. Idk how well it works there but either try it on your phone or just get another app until they fix it. If it were to work I’d give it a 5/5. It’s a great app. I just hope the developers see this review so they fix it. Please please fix it. This app has changed the way I work-it’s a shame it doesn’t work.

**Developer response:** Hey Nelly2dhxh,

Thanks for using Tomato Timer and I'm sorry that you had a bad experience. If you wouldn’t mind reaching out to support@tomatotimerapp.com, I can take a closer look at what went wrong.

Thanks again,

### 5/5 — Love this product

*2023-05-19*

I’ve tried these sorts of timers in the past and didn’t really find them helpful. This one is perfect! It’s simple and does help with my focus. Other options took too long to learn or promoted distraction with all the fancy features. No frills or bells and whistles with this one, but it has all the functionality I need. I love it!

### 4/5 — Simple and Easy! Free to use. Very few issues.

*2022-11-22, version 2.3.1*

I don’t normally write reviews, but this app definitely deserves credit. It’s super simple and easy to use. The interface is cute, as well as the free options are super nice to have. I enjoyed it so much that I bought the upgrade for a little extra nicety as well as giving to the creator.

A few things. When I am done with a project, I can’t delete that project. It’s file still kind of exists, but it’s completely empty. And when I am working on a current project, my current task doesn’t pop up. It kind of stinks because I like being able to see what I need to work on to stay on track. Very minor, but would be nice to include, but overall super awesome app! Highly recommend using it!

### 5/5 — Perfect productivity timer app

*2022-08-29, version 2.3.1*

This is THE best productivity timer app I’ve seen on the App Store- and I’ve used a lot, including Forest and Flora.
Why? Two reasons.
1) It is SUPER simple. There are no fancy, unnecessary details or gimmicks. There’s a one-time purchase for a couple extra features that are useful but not necessary to use the main product. As a productivity app, it shouldn’t overwhelm you and Tomato Timer does a great job keeping it minimal.

2) I love the “what are working on?” prompt for when you turn on the timer. I particularly like that it allows me to write in my one specific task I’m working on, because it primes me to work solely on that task until it’s done, as opposed to multitasking.

This app is for students and remote workers alike. Can’t recommend it enough. I just hope the developer keeps the interface as simple as it currently is.

### 5/5 — Simple, Functionable, Efficient

*2022-06-11, version 2.3.1*

This is such a slick tool. It has lots of little tweaks to make it fit me. Easy to set up and use, although i did have to go back to store to get info on zen mode. I am very impressed with this tidy little app and it is already feeling like an essential tool to help me with my distraction problems

### 3/5 — Simple! Yes. Please fix task selection for paid app.

*2022-03-23, version 2.3.1*

This is a simple timer and task pomodoro. Exactly what I was looking for. Nice that I’m supporting a small developer too. :) I paid for the app and now can’t seem to select which task I’m “working on” since I have several listed under my project. This started to happen once I checked off one of my tasks in my project. Can the developer please look at this and update? Kind of sad that it works much better on the free version.

Trying it again, it’s the to do list feature that appears to be working incorrectly. I’m going to use pen and paper for now until that feature works. :/

**Developer response:** Hey Katie! Thanks for using Tomato Timer and sorry about this experience - can you send me an email at adam@adamtecle.com so I can understand the issue here better?

Thanks
Adam 🍅

### 5/5 — Impressive User-friendly

*2022-02-12, version 2.3.1*

I’m totally satisfied with this app.
You can fix its timer on your personalized settings and it’s really helpful for me. Also has more few colors that all are very very cute. Has no bugs
Thanks to the producer :)

### 5/5 — Helps my ADHD

*2022-02-09, version 2.3.1*

I wasn’t diagnosed with ADHD until I was 34. As a female that’s not surprising. My previous position in my company was very structured but in my current position I am responsible for my day and getting off track is very easy. Especially working from home for the past two years. I have found stepping away helps but then I hyper focus and will be away longer than I planned. This app helps me be productive but scratch the itch to do something else. Having my day in smaller chunks has helped immensely!

The only feedback I have is to be able to restart the “clock” since sometimes it holds on from the night before it I was on 2/4.

Oh and I recommend the $2.99 version!! I get to pick any color I want and it doesn’t auto start the next session which allows me to quickly finish the task I am on before stepping away.

Thank you, Adam!!! 🖤🖤🖤

### 5/5 — Minimal UI, maximal effectiveness

*2022-01-18, version 2.3.1*

Of the many Pomodoro style timers out there I prefer Tomato Timer for its simplicity and clean design.

The only thing it doesn’t have that would be super helpful is a Watch app which would allow for haptic notification that a block of time has ended or is starting.

### 5/5 — Simplicity at its best

*2021-10-05, version 2.3.1*

After trying the other popular timers that utilize the pomodoro technique I can happily say that this is the best one. No bells, no whistles, no unnecessary hoops to jump through. For me, this app works wonderfully. More fun than the standard built-in phone timer but not so complex that it makes me sign up for an account. Thank you for making a great app!!!
