### 3/5 — Has this product been abandoned

*2026-08-14, version 3.9.18*

My subscription has just been renewed but there has been no updates for 5 months - I wanted to contact support but you cannot get past the support bot on the website. I wanted to understand why I cannot use the feature of avoiding low emissions zones when planning routes that should be available but isn’t. It seems what’s left of TomTom only update their free version to drive sales of the tom gizmo.

### 3/5 — Out of date maps

*2026-08-13, version 3.9.18*

I used to like this app but a year after moving into my new house they still haven’t added my address. Apple, Google, Garmin, the post office, the property appraiser office, etc all added it 10 months ago. What are you waiting for?

### 3/5 — Freezing

*2026-07-31, version 3.9.18*

Not working properly freezing most of the time.

### 3/5 — Good app

*2026-07-24, version 3.9.18*

I’ve been a loyal TomTom GO user for many years, and it’s become my preferred navigation app. The routing is excellent, traffic information is reliable, and the overall experience is polished. However, there are two missing features that prevent me from giving it more than 3 stars. If these were added, this would easily be a 5-star app.

The biggest omission is CarPlay instrument cluster support. On my Audi A5, both Apple Maps and Google Maps display turn-by-turn directions in the Virtual Cockpit as well as on the CarPlay screen. TomTom only displays navigation on the CarPlay display. Apple provides APIs for this (CPTemplateApplicationInstrumentClusterScene, CPNavigationSession, CPManeuver, and related CarPlay navigation APIs), so it would be fantastic to see TomTom implement support for compatible vehicles. Being able to glance at the driver’s display instead of the centre screen is a genuine usability and safety improvement.

Secondly, I’d love to see a persistent “avoid roads” feature. There are roads I never want to use, such as a nearby ford, but the only current workaround is “Avoid part of route”, which is temporary and isn’t available in CarPlay. A simple list of roads that users can permanently avoid during route planning would make the app much more practical for everyday use. Using my phone whilst driving is not feasible, illegal in UK.

TomTom GO already does so many things well, which is why these omissions stand out. I genuinely hope the team considers adding both features, because if they did, this would immediately become a 5-star app.

### 2/5 — Out dated

*2026-07-24, version 3.9.18*

This app has been the same for years, never any updates this could be so much better. Apple Maps are more advanced so don’t waste your money on this app

### 3/5 — Maps are not reliable

*2026-07-23, version 3.9.18*

The maps have tried to send me on incorrect routes multiple times. Nearly got completely stuck in London as the map was navigating to restricted streets. But biggest issue is the over busy graphics (that look out of date) and confusing colour scheme. It’s hard to tell a busy road red/orange pattern from a non permitted road. Sometimes the blue travel lines are unclear, especially exiting motorways-when you need clear directions the most.

### 3/5 — Not worth paying

*2026-07-21, version 3.9.18*

Free TomTom app shows green roads for smooth traffic. This paid app shows congestion, but not the gratifying green roads where traffic is flowing smooth. That’s not ideal.

### 2/5 — Not worth paying

*2026-07-16, version 3.9.18*

I had to try this because I enjoy TomTom in my jeep gladiator. This is not good. Not even as good as the free TomTom app. It doesn’t show traffic congestion on roads. The speed limits are wrong in multiple locations. There’s one female voice included that provides full voice support.
I can’t believe this required me to waste twenty bucks to try it. On day 1 after one drive, I already cancelled the subscription. TomTom should be ashamed of this app for a paid app. And I actually love the TomTom navigation in my Gladiator, but it never pulls in traffic data and Stellantis can’t fix it.

### 2/5 — Nearly helpfully in Turkey

*2026-07-12, version 3.9.18*

The mapping and routing was mostly good although it did try to take us routes in Antalya that neither Google or Waze suggested.

Speed limits were the big problem. These were constantly wrong and Di not match the road signs.

The biggest example was 110 in the very well sign posted 70 Demirkapi Tuneli on the D687 in both directions. This is a new tunnel and is sign posted at 70 all the way through the tunnel.

Turkish speed limit signs are sporadic at best so I was hoping for more from TomTom.

### 3/5 — Searching in Apple CarPlay needs a major improvement please

*2026-07-09, version 3.9.18*

Hi there,
Thank you for your response.
The issue isn’t just with CarPlay. Searching on the iPhone app is also much slower and less intuitive than other navigation apps such as Waze.

Please try to make the search much faster and smarter. It would be great if the first result from favourite appeared almost instantly, with the rest of the results loading afterwards.

The search should make better use of the internet to provide quicker and more accurate suggestions.
Also,

please allow many more recent destinations to be saved. This would be especially useful in CarPlay, but also in the iPhone app.

I’ve updated my review and rating, and I’m looking forward to future updates. Once these improvements are made, I’ll be happy to leave an even higher rating.
Thank you, and keep up the good work!

### 3/5 — Brilliant but…

*2026-07-04, version 3.9.18*

Works just like the standalone , however…with no bus mode on there it reads like your a truck which is fine until you come to places like Barcelona where it’s mainly no trucks and it’s a nightmare . Can you add a bus mode on this please I’ve paid for the year aswell

### 1/5 — Search on Apple CarPlay needs a major improvement!

*2026-07-03, version 3.9.18*

I’ve been a loyal TomTom user since the very beginning and

have saved hundreds of favourite places over many years around the UK and worldwide.

The biggest frustration is searching favourites in Apple CarPlay. It’s extremely slow and difficult—you only see a few results at a time, making it a nightmare to find a saved location.

In Waze, typing just 1–2 letters instantly finds the correct favourite.

Please make favourite search fast, intelligent, and prioritise saved favourites.

This would make a huge difference for long-time loyal users like me.

### 2/5 — Updates not worth the money

*2026-07-02, version 3.9.18*

I have used TomTom Truck on both Android and IOS it’s better on IOS but it appears like a poor relative to normal SatNavs
Need to drop the price substantially and then they might get more custom.
It does not pair for updates on iOS
You seem to have created the absolute worst of both worlds

### 1/5 — Nav

*2026-06-30, version 3.9.18*

Won’t let me put it on truck

### 3/5 — POI not as extensive as Google Maps

*2026-06-28, version 3.9.18*

The POIs in Tomtom are still not on par with what Google Maps offers and the menu structure leaves a lot to be desired.

### 1/5 — Currently not worth buying.

*2026-06-28, version 3.9.18*

This is pretty disappointing. There’s no option to simply take the route with the largest roads. I have to have it set in eco as that I find uses more main routes. On the other settings it will often route you down routes that are legal, but that you would never knowing use. Despite downloading all of the maps, I cannot get it to work at all in Europe. It’s a shame, having this on the phone would be perfect if it worked. The best benefit it provides is that you programme in the truck height and that works in the UK. Tom Tom, this needs to improve before my subscription is due. Currently, I would not renew it.

### 1/5 — Do not buy! Very very poor!

*2026-06-27, version 3.9.18*

Terrible!!! I tried entering my vehicle dimensions. It didnt allow me to and kept on jumping to the preset measurements. I didnt realise and it then sent me down a road unsuitable for my lorry. I could not use the app for its intesed purposes, i asked for a refund. Apple rejected it. You will not get your money back when this app doesnt work the way you expect it to!

### 1/5 — Woeful. Still

*2026-06-24, version 3.9.18*

Update a few years on - ive given up completely. Poor routing, the inability to get to favourites or rerouting quickly and a whole bunch of other issues (I have multiple places of work being one) have stopped my using Tom Tom after years of use and working around its quirks.

I’ve had Tomtom for years, a top spec unit, inbuilt sim etc. So when it finally died after 7 years of service (and Tom Tom nuking it the year previous) it’s time to update.

So I tried the app, newly developed, paid for a month expecting a better experience or a comparable one at least. I was so wrong it’s not funny.

The app gets lost (every day), thinks your on different roads (constantly), gives bad directions (turn left - I was on the m57!!)

The list of faults goes on and on. The cherry was it totally falling down in the middle of rush hour Liverpool- where I needed the traffic the most!! (It did sort itself out - 45 minutes later, on a clear m62)

In short, a very sub par effort your expected to pay for!! Not while google maps is free. Glad I wasted only £5 on it instead of the premium unit I was going to buy.

(To the teams that read these - I trawled the forums looking for solutions and got nowhere, feel free to contact me)

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-08-12, version 3.9.18*

I downloaded the North and South UK databases. I was thinking of using this for my motorhome but it either could not find a route or suggested an unsuitable route. For example, Stansted to Canterbury, via Ilford. The M25 and Dartford Crossing was the obvious route. I’ve cancelled after the free trial.

### 1/5 — Maps not updated

*2026-08-08, version 3.9.18*

Recently I’ve written a 3 star review about getting lost in Birmingham around May. I’m changing it to 1 star and I will be cancelling my subscription because I simply lost money. I’ve bought it to mainly get a low bridges filtered out because I’m a van driver doing 50k+ miles a year and the most of time I carry traffic lights on the back and they are quite high so the van is much higher so I need to be careful with low bridges, but I get lost so many times while using TomTom, many roundabouts I go through don’t even exist on them maps and they are there for years because I’ve driven them locations hundreds of times so why can’t you just update the app regularly. Waze hasn’t got that problem the app is free and they’ve got everything updated, they have got much better lane control before massive busy roundabouts that unfortunately isn’t explained as it should be in TomTom. I was really expecting something much better from the paid app. Totally disappointed.

### 1/5 — Not helpful, but made navigation worse.

*2026-08-07, version 3.9.18*

I’m driving from Pacific Northwest to Alaska through Canada (driven this about 12 times over the years) have used a tom tom device years ago before and it worked great, I forgot it this trip and decided to get the app. This did not work, I enter the little information it allows about my vehicle (I have a truck and trailer), it would not even give me route options that I have driven for years and are the best options. Both Apple Maps and Google Maps gave me better and more options for routes. My brother uses Garmin/rv and consistently gets better route planning, that is what I will likely move to also, which is sad because I liked my old Tomtom and thought this would be a updated car play version, it is not.

### 1/5 — Don’t buy it

*2026-08-07, version 3.9.18*

Traffic shows only wrongful timing he found routes on unsuitable for hgvs not for hgvs at all

### 1/5 — Very poor for the money.

*2026-08-02, version 3.9.18*

The maps are unreliable, despite being for a truck, with truck dimensions, it took me to the car ferry port rather than the truck one in the Hoek of Holland. It rarely identifies paddock entrances at circuits and away from Zandvoort gave a ridiculous route, incredibly tight turns. It does this regardless of if it is set to eco, fastest or shortest. For god’ sake, don’t ever use the latter if you are in an HGV. The routing is really poor, Waze and Google maps do a better job. Given this is for trucks it needs an easiest or best route, largest roads. Even with that the routing would need to be better. I really wanted and needed this to work, but I just can’t justify renewing.

### 1/5 — Very buggy, do not buy

*2026-07-17, version 3.9.18*

I got the app, configured it for my truxk measurements and road preferences, seemed to work so I bought an annual subscription. A fee days later, it loaded and said subscription EXPIRED (!!), even after restarting, probably because if you have no internet defaults to that, and so I needed to download a competitor app. Once I got back the internet signal I started the app again, lo and behold the subscription was magically back in there...so I used it on my next trip, and I risked twice an ACCIDENT as it wanted me to turn the wrong way into unpaved roads! So I went in my profile, and my profile was ERASED and the vehicle type back to car. It's not acceptable to have such a POOR QUALITY app for such a HIIGH SUBSCRIPTION PRICE. And the fact that such failure is random (might happen when you more need indications without internet) and silent (vehicle profile and road preferences deleted) makes it also DANGEROUS to rely on.

### 1/5 — Nav

*2026-07-12, version 3.9.18*

Won’t let me put it on truck I’m paying 7 a month it won’t let me access truck

### 1/5 — Piss poor

*2026-07-06, version 3.9.18*

Sat nav under warranty. Half way through the 2 year warranty and been dealing with them for over two weeks. Clearly has a problem. If they wasn’t recommended for the job I do I’d stay well clear

### 1/5 — Mr

*2026-07-06, version 3.9.18*

Lost when road closed it gets lost

### 1/5 — Horrible App

*2026-07-04, version 3.9.18*

Doesn’t route for low clearance, shows a hospital that has been closed for 5 years and the only support available is a very poor bot that is of no help whatsoever with no option to contact a human.

I’ve never been 10% as disappointed with an app as this joke. Truly useless garbage.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Mr

*2026-07-11, version 3.9.18*

Works well

### 5/5 — Excellent mapping app

*2026-06-29, version 3.9.18*

Clear directions and regular updates make this fit for purpose.

### 5/5 — So good, and precise too!

*2026-05-20, version 3.9.18*

A fantastic app that makes driving so much more enjoyable! It excels others by its simplicity, yet the information shown helps you keep in the route, even by a glance. The choice choices improve the experience too, with natural time. There is so much more I could add! So underrated is TomTom.

### 5/5 — Still the goto Nav

*2026-05-19, version 3.9.18*

I have had TomTom since TomTom go in 2007, multiple units in cars and motorbikes. Even now with all the other options TomTom app is still the preferred on a state of the art adventure bike via CarPlay on and off road and huge 5000 mile solo rides throughout Europe each year. Thanks TomTom, you have actually never let me down (unlike a brief try of garmin, with 4 failed units in 8 months 🤣) keeping it simple and useable works for me 😁

### 5/5 — Fixed

*2026-05-14, version 3.9.18*

Issue resolved & they had even taken the time to let me know. Happy days.

### 5/5 — Lost all my data

*2026-05-12, version 3.9.18*

It looks like you have now sorted the issue as I have all my missing routes etc are back

Thank you

### 5/5 — Simply the best…

*2026-05-11, version 3.9.18*

This has to be the best Navigation App available today. It works and does not cost the earth! It’s very accurate here in the UK and having used it to travel by car to Spain and whilst in the USA I can say it works there as well. Personally I would not travel without it.

### 5/5 — Renewed for 2026…

*2026-03-12, version 3.9.18*

Been using this I think forever on SatNav and then on the iPhone and CarPlay in my mini, but it still seems to take for ever to get started compared to Waze, Google, Apple Maps etc but still my preferred choice…
I still have to say the renaming to Truck GPS did confuse me was wondering if I was still using the correct product for my car, even the pictures seem to say this is a truck GPS…

### 5/5 — Very convenient for Hgv truck

*2026-02-27, version 3.9.17*

Been using this app for a while now as Hgv drive we get diversions and extra this app is up to date with high and route restriction so far so good

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-02-04, version 3.9.17*

Great app but far to expensive I gone back to my Tom Tom until this app drops in price.
