## What is Tonbridge App?

The Tonbridge App puts the School day in one place. Sign in with your Tonbridge account to see your timetable, your reports, the notices that matter, and the forms and bookings that used to mean an email chain.

It is for pupils, parents and staff at Tonbridge School, and it needs a School account to show anything at all.

What you see depends on who you are, so there is nothing to set up and no wrong version to download.

PUPILS
• Your timetable, with the week letter and the room, so you know where to be next
• School reports and exam results as they are published
• Rewards and sanctions, so nothing arrives as a surprise
• Absence and Offex requests, sent from your phone instead of chased in person
• The School calendar, trips, event sign-ups and club lists
• Handbooks, policies and your reading list
• Report an IT or facilities problem, and follow it through to a fix

PARENTS
• All of your children in one app, a tap apart
• School reports, exam results and a summary of how each term has gone
• Book parents' evening appointments yourself, at a time that works
• Absence and Offex requests, and the School's answers to them
• Trip information and forms
• Termly health forms and Check Your Details, so the School holds the right information
• Billing extras, itemised, so a term's charges are never a mystery

STAFF
• Registers taken in seconds, on a phone in a corridor or a laptop in a classroom
• Class lists, set lists and pupil profiles, with the pastoral context in front of you
• Lesson cover, free periods and who is where
• Rewards, sanctions and private notes, recorded where pupils are actually discussed
• Leave requests, allowances and approvals, with your team's cover visible before you book
• Professional development submissions and approvals
• House and site compliance: fire checks, accident reports, critical incidents
• Advanced search and saved queries across the data your role allows

MADE AT TONBRIDGE
The app is built and run in-house by the School's IT and Digital team. If something is wrong or missing, the people who can fix it are down the corridor. Log a ticket from Service Desk in the app.

DETAILS
• Light and dark, plus a set of colour themes
• Respects your system text size
• The same app on iPhone, iPad and Mac
• Notifications open the screen you need, not the home page

SIGNING IN
Sign in with your School account. Parents new to the School receive their sign-in details from the School. Without a Tonbridge account, the app has nothing to show you.

PRIVACY
You only ever see the information your role entitles you to. The app is covered by the School's privacy policy: https://tonbridge.school/privacy

### 4/5 — Commendations

*2024-09-27, version 2024.9.22*

Great and is very helpful supports me all the time but the new update is supposed to count the commendations correctly and is still counting them wrong

### 5/5 — Pretty darn good

*2024-09-24, version 2024.9.19*

I have to say as a student it is very helpful to have this as an app as it helps me see my commendations see my timetable and access it and all round research and see stuff about the school 5 stars

### 1/5 — don’t know my timetable

*2024-09-18, version 2024.9.18*

new addition of the app won’t let me sign in on my phone and on my laptop it’s not showing my timetable, the old addition didn’t have these problems.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2026.8.19 — 2026-08-27

This update introduces a new Timetable Admin module, adds a photo upload tool and a leave group overview, and resolves a crash that affected every screen in the app.

Timetable Admin brings the timetable's administrative work into one place. Set counts are listed for every pupil on the roll, with anyone whose count looks unusual flagged against what is normal for their own year group. Results can be narrowed by year group, house or form, and any row opens that pupil's sets with subject, teachers and lessons per fortnight. Any pupil or member of staff can be looked up and their full two-week timetable viewed as a single grid, and timetables can be exported in bulk as branded PDFs, one landscape page per person covering both weeks. Access to the module is controlled by a new permission.

A new administrative tool handles staff and pupil photos: filenames are matched to the relevant records automatically, each image can be cropped square in the app, and processed photos are uploaded to both iSAMS and Office 365 in one pass.

Leave management gains a group overview for administrators: allowance used measured against where you would expect to be at this point in the year, a breakdown by month and by leave type, and a row for every member with a clear status. Where allowance has not been recorded for some members, the screen says so before presenting any totals, and names the people furthest behind rather than simply counting them. Line managers can now record leave already agreed with a member of their team, which is particularly useful for holiday agreed before a new starter's first day. Adding allowance handles up to thirty people across two years at once, the request form no longer fails when none has been recorded, and leave years are labelled to show both calendar years they cover.

Elsewhere: timetable views now merge consecutive lessons of the same class, room and teacher into a single block, with attendance still available for each period within it. The notices administration list shows whether each notice is live, scheduled, expired or inactive. Service Desk replies open with a greeting ready to type. And a component sitting beneath every screen and table was throwing errors after being closed, which has been fixed.

### 2026.8.18 — 2026-08-26

This update introduces a new Timetable Admin module, adds a group overview to leave management, and resolves a crash that affected every screen in the app.

Timetable Admin brings the timetable's administrative work into one place. Set counts are listed for every pupil on the roll, with anyone whose count looks unusual flagged against what is normal for their own year group and the difference explained in plain terms. Results can be narrowed by year group, house or form, and any row opens that pupil's sets with subject, teachers and lessons per fortnight. Any pupil or member of staff can be looked up and their full two-week timetable viewed as a single grid. Timetables can also be exported in bulk as branded PDFs, one landscape page per person covering both weeks, for pupils and staff alike, with the filters used named in the document heading. Access to the module is controlled by a new permission.

Leave management gains a group overview for administrators: allowance used measured against where you would expect to be at this point in the year, activity and TOIL figures, a breakdown by month and by leave type, and a row for every member of the group with a clear status. Where allowance has not been recorded for some members, the screen says so before presenting any totals, and names the people furthest behind rather than simply counting them. Line managers can now record leave already agreed with a member of their team directly, which is particularly useful for holiday agreed before a new starter's first day.

Adding leave allowance now handles up to thirty people across two years at once, with next year included by default. The leave request form no longer fails when no allowance has been recorded, and leave years are now labelled to show both calendar years they cover.

Service Desk replies open with a greeting ready to type, and the reply composer has been tightened up. A component sitting beneath every screen and table was throwing errors after being closed, and this has been fixed.

### 2026.8.15 — 2026-08-22

This update adds a full Service Desk to the app, introduces a whole-School exam results module with a rebuilt import, and completes the Communications work begun in the previous release.

Service Desk brings IT support into the app. The full ticket list is available with search, filters and saved views, along with counts so you can see at a glance where the pressure is. Tickets can be read and replied to directly, canned responses turn frequent answers into a single tap, and bulk actions handle many tickets in one pass. There is also a mentions inbox, so being tagged in a private note reaches you, plus an overview and statistics view.

Exam results have been rebuilt for the whole School. Grade distributions, trends over time, candidate spread and breakdowns by subject and by house are all presented visually, and any pupil can be looked up directly with detail down to individual components. Importing results is considerably simpler: the app now identifies the file format itself rather than asking you to choose it, and offers a dry run so you can see exactly what an import will do, duplicates included, before committing to it.

Communications now reports back. Each campaign has full analytics covering opens, clicks and the outcome for every individual recipient. Follow-up sends can be targeted at only those who did not open the original, reply-to addresses are managed properly by admins, and older campaigns can be archived. The composer has had a further round of refinement.

Elsewhere: changes to staff details can now be given an effective date and are applied automatically when it arrives, the app checks whether a person already exists before onboarding them, and a new card shows who is away today. A command palette allows quick navigation from anywhere. Onboarding and change request pages have been reworked, requests are now searchable, and Free Periods has gained its rooms view.

Underneath all of this, a substantial round of behind-the-scenes work has taken place.

### 2026.8.14 — 2026-08-18

This update lays the groundwork for our new Communications module, brings Study and Free Periods together into a single screen, and corrects a timing issue that affected scheduled times across the app.

Much of this release went into the foundations for the new Communications module, which is arriving in stages. Composing a message is now a clear four-step flow. You can attach files, choose how replies are handled — no-reply, your own address, or an address granted to you — and see delivery tracked for each individual recipient. Messages can be duplicated and resent to a different group, and links within a message are tracked so you can see what recipients actually opened.

One-time secrets are new. Share a password or other sensitive detail through a link that works exactly once before destroying itself, encrypted so that it cannot be read in transit or at rest. Short links now include click tracking with approximate location and a usage screen for each link. Location is derived and the underlying address discarded rather than retained.

Study and Free Periods have been merged into a single screen with a sidebar, search and filters, along with a new view of available rooms. The Music Lessons admin screen has gained an import flow for adding lessons in bulk.

On the fixes side: times compared against the current moment were running an hour early during British Summer Time, meaning scheduled releases and form closures happened at the wrong time. This has been corrected throughout. Review of Results now works correctly for every cohort rather than only older ones, exam results display properly on parent and pupil views, and searching for pupils from previous years now includes those who have since left.

Alongside this, a substantial round of behind-the-scenes work has taken place across the app.
