## What is Tonecut?

Tonecut is the clean, fast way to cut audio and make ringtones on your phone. No ads interrupting you, no account to create, no uploads. Open a file, trim it, done.

Make a ringtone in three taps:
• Pick any song or audio file
• Drag the handles to the part you want
• Finish in GarageBand to set it as your ringtone

What you can do:
• Cut & trim — precise, with a clear waveform and zoom
• Merge — join multiple tracks into one, with optional crossfade
• Extract audio — pull the sound out of a video and keep just the audio
• Convert — export to MP3 or WAV
• Ringtone maker — turn any cut into a ringtone, notification, or alarm tone
• Fade & volume — add fade in/out, adjust loudness, change speed
• Batch — process several files at once

Why Tonecut:
• One purchase. No subscription, no in-app purchases, ever.
• No ads. Ever.
• No sign-up. No email, no login.
• Private by design — everything runs on your device; your audio never leaves your phone.
• Fast and light. Built to do one job well.

A simple audio cutter, music cutter, MP3 cutter, ringtone maker, and audio merger in one app. Perfect for custom ringtones, notification tones, alarm sounds, podcast clips, voice notes, and trimming recordings.

Cut it. Keep it. Make it yours. Download Tonecut.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.1.0 — 2026-09-26

• Zoom into the waveform — pinch or tap + — with a mini-map, to cut right on the beat.
• Cancel any export, ringtone or batch halfway through.
• Faster exports: each file is now read once instead of twice.
• Turn the volume past 100% without distortion — a limiter keeps the peaks clean.
• Setting a ringtone on iPhone: clear step-by-step GarageBand instructions, always in Settings. Your exports now show up in the Files app too.
• Extract the sound from iPhone videos (.MOV).
• VoiceOver can adjust sliders and trim handles, and larger text sizes are supported.
• Your Library keeps its files after restoring from a backup, and leftover temporary copies are cleaned up.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-09-25

• Fades now export exactly as set. A fade left over after trimming could make the whole clip quieter.
• Batch saves every converted file to your Library, with its real length (not 0:00).
• Merge crossfades no longer dip in volume at the join.
• The export progress bar moves instead of freezing.
• Fade in/out can now be heard while previewing.
• Clear messages when a file can't be read, is too long, or can't be shared.
• The Haptics switch in Settings now works.
• Better VoiceOver labels and higher-contrast text.
• The Home screen fits smaller iPhones.
