### 2/5 — PLEASE UPDATE!!!

*2026-05-27, version 4.6.18*

The app is great, when it connects, which is about 50% of the time. It eventually will connect, but you often have to turn your Bluetooth on and off (on phone and/or pedal) before it connects. You’ll want to do all your testing and pedal setup before your session or performance- definitely not on the fly- it’s way too undependable. Hopefully TC can sort this out. It has so much potential!

### 3/5 — When it works it’s great

*2026-02-16, version 4.6.18*

Beaming from iPhone works ok, and used to work from iPad. Running iOS 26.3 on both.

### 4/5 — actually really not bad

*2026-01-18*

lots of people are saying this app isn’t good at all but for me (bass+tc sub n up) it worked perfectly
there’s isnt loads of choice, but most options of effects are pretty good and whether you do cable or sound transmit ion it works well
some fine tuning is a maybe a bit overwhelming but i’ll soon get used to it

### 1/5 — Can not quit offline mode

*2026-01-15*

For unknown reason the app (v4.5.11) is now in offline mode. Remove and new installation did not help tomget it back online again.

Update 2026: old error was fixed 2 weeks later but now with v4.6.18 on iPadOS 26 server connection fails again (since few weeks). Is nobody responsible for these servers?

### 1/5 — Servers offline?

*2026-01-11*

Anscheinend sind die Server für die Toneprints schon seit Monaten offline. Schade.

### 3/5 — Ok, but lacking important functionality

*2025-12-10, version 4.6.18*

The app is relatively easy to use, but there’s currently no way to transfer TomePrints from one device to another. For example, I sometimes use my computer, and other times use my phone or iPad to tweak my Plethora x3. It would be able to log in and share TonePrint across all my devices.

### 2/5 — Great effects but app is terrible

*2025-12-02, version 4.6.18*

It will not connect via Bluetooth and every time you plug it in with the cable the app just crashes. I have tried the firmware update, but it would never take and always froze around 40%. Good thing the preselected sounds were already pretty good 😑

### 1/5 — Não funciona

*2025-11-04*

Não funciona no Hall os fame 2 mini

### 1/5 — Does not load the presets

*2025-10-27*

I have a hall of fame mini 2 and the app doesn’t allow me to change the reverb it is loaded. Terrible! Not reliable at all. The pedal could be awesome, but it will probably let you down if you need the app to change anything

### 1/5 — Sub n Up mini - problems

*2025-09-20, version 4.6.18*

Impossible to return to the sub n up mini default factory setting toneprint via the app. The toneprints that are labelled as the default are wrong. Apparently a known issue for years but has never been fixed. Very poor.

### 1/5 — Not finished

*2025-05-05, version 4.6.18*

I had the same issues as other users. Problems connecting, weird anomalies in the app, and eventually it just shuts down. The pedal itself is a good piece of gear. Can’t fathom why TC would put out a product like this.

### 1/5 — Broke My Pedal

*2025-02-13, version 4.6.17*

Tried today for the first time on my Subnup Mini Octaver and it broke the pedal! The TonePrint added a two octave down note to my pedal and Now I can’t get rid of it! How do you factory reset?

### 1/5 — Should be negative stars

*2025-02-03, version 4.6.17*

This app doesn’t even seem to have been beta tested. Doesn’t work with my plethora x1. Constantly crashes my phone and doesn’t connect to the pedal.

### 1/5 — The app is useless

*2025-02-02, version 4.6.17*

I have the plethorax 1 pedal, which does not load on my iPad at all! And I have an iPad Pro and regular neither one so this app is freaking useless

### 1/5 — Awesome…

*2025-01-30, version 4.6.17*

Awesome at crashing.

### 1/5 — Unusable with Plethora X1

*2025-01-07*

I’m sorry to report that the app doesn’t function with the Plethora X1. On my iPhone it connected exactly one time, with a USB C to C cable, and that was after an hour of trying to connect on phone, PC, and iPad. Tried Bluetooth and no luck. After I disconnected the Plethora from the iPhone TonePrint app, it never worked again. The app shuts itself down as soon as the USB cable connects the pedal to phone.
Tried deleting and restoring the app, updating, nothing works.
I imagine that the X3 and X5 are more stable, but I don’t have those. I’d wait several months before getting an X1; it appears they released it without completing a beta test period.
Unusable. Avoid (at least with Plethora X1).

### 1/5 — The APP joke

*2024-12-31, version 4.6.16*

I have tried countless times to use this app with various TC products to no avail. Stay away. It’s a great idea. It just doesn’t work. I’m a very tech savvy user and the effort required to make changes on the plethora X1 negates the value of the product.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Crash city

*2026-07-19, version 4.6.18*

The TonePrint app crashes instantly anytime I connect my new Plethora X1 online support from TC is more or less non-existent.

### 1/5 — Absolutely Disgusted By This Quality

*2026-06-10, version 4.6.18*

This company has a great reputation, I mean it had a great reputation in the 90s from its 80s gear. I like about 90% of the stuff they do today but it all seems antiquated. No midi first off which is pathetic. And now I can’t even edit it.
I’ve used the desktop one and it crashes too. Every time I plug in a usb it crashes which is needed because the Bluetooth just doesn’t work.
I don’t know who they farmed this development out to but they underpaid and got scammed

### 1/5 — Couldn’t be less functional

*2026-04-16, version 4.6.18*

Every three or four months, I try and update the firmware and get access to the TonePrint app. As of April 2026, I still can’t access TonePrint in an online mode, which is necessary to update firmware. I’ve tried doing it on my laptop, it never connects. I used to be able to access the TonePrint app on my iPhone, and now it gives me an off-line access, which doesn’t let me do anything. I like in this application to a very soft bowel movement. Avoid this plethora one product like the plague.

### 1/5 — Out of Order

*2026-04-09*

Leider funktioniert die App nicht mehr, egal ob Tablett oder MacBook.

### 1/5 — One way communication, no ability to export TonePrints

*2026-04-02, version 4.6.18*

This app is buggy and presents constant issues. But outside of the software being sub par, there are two MAJOR issues with it. First, there is no way to export TonePrints. Many issues with the app require deleting it and re-downloading it. So guess what, you lose all your TonePrints (presets). I’ve had to sit there and take screenshots of my settings so I could find a way to repeat them, which is insane. Additionally, the app communicates to the pedal, but not the other way around. E.g. if you have a Plethora X1 and load 14 different TonePrints into the slots, there’s no way to later figure out what you loaded into the pedal. You just have to remember, or name your TonePrints in a way that helps. My app currently isn’t connecting to my pedals, so I will have to delete and download it again, thus losing all of my presets. In 2026 this is beyond sub par.

### 1/5 — Insultingly bad app

*2026-03-22, version 4.6.18*

Insultingly bad app. Pathetic amount of information to help you use this thing, each TonePrint has zero information about the settings it contains and worst of all saving your own settings is completely broken.

### 1/5 — Need to be updated

*2026-03-03, version 4.6.18*

Please update the firmware. The apps always suddenly close automatically.

### 1/5 — Very poor user interface

*2026-02-10, version 4.6.18*

Fort the plethora x5. Why can I not click on a board an edit it? It would look like, select board, (see the effects on the selected board), select the effect (open the effect editor) or change effect via drag and drop? Should be easy to do.

Beat product but useless UI.

### 1/5 — Abgeschaltet

*2026-01-23*

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Intuitive, after some practice

*2025-05-06, version 4.6.18*

I play acoustic guitar and with a pair of X1’s stereo into a pedalboard stereo four channel mixer I can fashion four tone prints at the ready or any combo of about six variations. For acoustic that’s a lot. A little goes a long way with acoustics, so this fits well. Reduced my pedal board to single file 19” for ease of movement.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-03-25, version 4.6.17*

First I went to the Apple Store to buy a C converter to plug the petal into my iPad Pro. Then you look through the app tones that are your petal. Then make sure your petal is plugged in and your guitar is plugged in to the petal. There are so many tones to choose from. Lots of fun easy to use.

### 5/5 — Im in love!

*2025-01-15, version 4.6.16*

Zero problems with this app. I have an iphone se. using it with a PlethoraX1. Im a drummer and if i can use it, anyone can. Running my electric mandolin thru all of these amazing sounds has been killer! I was leery from some of the reviews, so glad i scored a winner!

### 5/5 — Genius

*2024-08-02, version 4.5.11*

An amazing feature. The bad reviews are from people that don’t understand how to use it properly.

### 5/5 — TC ELECTRONICS has done it AGAIN!

*2024-07-06, version 4.5.11*

You do have to hold your phone close up against the pickups, like flat against them. But it IS like magic. And it’s nice to have a switch that sets the guitar pedal to a setting which works for you and your guitar. Forget all the hate and download! you won’t regret it!

### 5/5 — Amazing Tech

*2024-01-30, version 4.5.11*

I use this on my bass head . I also use a few pedals tone print features are amazing.

### 5/5 — Funktioniert einwandfrei

*2023-11-03*

### 5/5 — Incredible!

*2023-04-06, version 4.5.10*

Get this app! I really don’t know why there are all these terrible reviews. worked like magic for me very impressed. Super simple and easy, tons of free sounds.

### 5/5 — Intuitive

*2022-10-07, version 4.5.8*

Impressive technology, sending the signal through your pickups into the pedal, hard to complain and it works when I use it.

### 5/5 — What’s all the hub bub, bub?

*2022-09-29, version 4.5.8*

These pedals are great and I haven’t had all the issues the people below have had with this app. Enjoy it and try it and then you tell me who’s the a@&&($ here?
