### 3/5 — ios 17.4.1

*2024-03-27*

Sound is not coming out properly on iOS 17.4.1

### 3/5 — Would be 5 stars but IAA not working

*2021-06-09*

First, the good...

This app sounds great, the live features are awesome, and the fact that you can buy individual effects instead of spending a ton on a bunch you don't need (like in BIAS FX) makes this one of the best.

Now the bad, which is why it gets 3 instead of 5 stars...

I have a lot of IAA effects, so I spent the 9.99 on the starter bundle to activate that feature, and I can't get it to work at all with my irig Duo, and when I just use the phone with no interface, the one IAA effect works, but none of the Tonestack ones do. It said something about sample rates... All of the effects I have would run at 44 or 48k, but there's no way to adjust.a sample rate in this app.

Another problem I've had is when switching to a preset that has a lot of effects, it makes a loud noise that kind of sounds like what a noise would sound like if it went through that whole preset, effectively making changing presets during a performance impossible. I sent Yonac an email on their website over two weeks ago about both of these problems and still haven't heard back. If they weren't going to at least offer some support, I would have at least liked a refund for the starter pack.

If these two problems didn't exist, this app would be almost perfect.

### 4/5 — Still in business?

*2020-12-04*

Last update 3 years ago. Is there any update in the near future that could bring a background run feature?

### 4/5 — Favorite guitar app yet

*2020-10-30*

This app is the is, to me, the most realistic modeling app out there. Amps behave like they have real tubes, sounds are great, decent price, and let’s you get nerdy, without over doing it like in bias. My two criticism are I wish there would be more updates and new amps and effects, and I do get a fair amount of buzz through my irig2 hd. The noise suppressor effect worked great, but can kill sustain on quieter notes

### 4/5 — Great, but one suggestion

*2019-03-24*

It would be better if by default files recorded within tapedeck feature retained the bpm and last amps/fx which the file was last played or saved

Is there a setting for this?

### 4/5 — Question

*2018-08-17*

What is the difference between Tonestack Go and Tonestack?

### 4/5 — Expansions piú cara di quanto indicato

*2018-08-05, version 3.3*

### 3/5 — Recording freezes

*2018-05-11*

I love this app, it’s got a great range of sounds and pedals, I love that you can use Tonebridge with it, the only issue I’m having is when recording I will be laying down a second track and it will just freeze up. It will freeze while I’m trying to lay down a second guitar or at any random time. That’s very frustrating because I lose great recordings which renders this app useless to anyone experiencing this problem. I did spend money on it but that’s not even the point, I would love to use this app. Other than that it’s a great app. I’d love it if you guys could maybe update it with a fix or let me know if there’s anything I can do in settings. Thanks

### 4/5 — Really, really cool!!! But.......

*2017-12-04*

Is a amazing app, sounds really really good, but is a pity that it doesn’t runs in second plan, I can’t play together with a playback on YouTube or a music on Spotify with this app, if it could be fixed will be the better guitar amp app in my opinion.
Sorry but just because of this I cannot give 5 stars.

### 5/5 — Hands down the best

*2017-12-02*

I have been buying multi effects pedals and amp modeling software for years and Tonestack really is the best I’ve ever used.

The AB/Y capability opens so many doors. The tube amp models are incredibly convincing, and you can dial in a great breakup. Works great with GarageBand. The expansions offer tons and tons of effects, I’m enjoying playing with all the combinations.

### 5/5 — So cool

*2017-08-29*

Great sounding pedals on iOS... {8

### 4/5 — Best rig simulation on IOS

*2017-04-12, version 3.1*

Far and away the most fun in a full rig simulation on an iPhone. The dual signal paths are a gas to play with and no issues with running out of CPU on an iPhone 6. Didn't care for the models of the echoplex and elec mistress. A couple things I would like to see in a future release. A ping pong echo option and a simulation of a Dimension D chorus.

### 4/5 — Best amp modeler on iTunes

*2016-12-25*

I've tried every amp modeler on iTunes. This is the best one. The feel and reaction of the amps is more realistic than others. There are more than enough fx to make any sound you want. Get a stereo amp rig going and experiment with cabs and mic placement making a huge difference in tone. I play thru high quality monitoring headphones or speakers. Not sure how it sounds for a live rig bypassing power amp emulation.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — annoying ad ...

*2021-03-17*

... each and every time you use the app. limited effects. deleted, no fun.

*2020-05-31*

### 1/5 — fx

*2019-12-24*

Why is it every app you have the same effect yet you have to pay for them in each app this is not fair this is just being greedy😡😡

### 1/5 — ToneStack go

*2017-01-14, version 3.1*

I would not recommend this app for the Artiphon Instrument 1 on the iphone. I paid $9.99 and could not get it to work. Their help screens and manuals are impossible for an amateur to understand, as they refer to screens, controls and functionality within the app that you cannot find and they do not provide screen shots. While the midi in apparently recognized the Instrument 1 I could not get the app to recognize the Instrument 1 as a midi out amp. The company provides no email address for technical help. Don't waste your money.

### 1/5 — Feedback extrem, kein Support

*2014-11-28*

### 2/5 — Feedback

*2024-08-30, version 3.3*

I can hear feedback and there’s no sound from my guitar, what to do?

### 2/5 — Dreadful GUI = fail

*2016-11-12, version 3.0*

Sounds ok when opened (not superior). From there, good luck. At this point in the evolution of apps, a GUI this non-intuitive is unacceptable. Look elsewhere.

### 3/5 — Critical Bug or DesignFlaw in Onstage Feature of this great ToneStack app.

*2024-12-30*

Considering this feature is for Live performance or jamming, pressing the Pads during performance
can wreck your song delivery, very distressing.
The lock button on the Pads page locks FX units but not the Pads.
And touh the next Pad for more than about 500mSecs and it overwrites with the previous used presets wrecking your Set layout.
Without being Lockable this is too too quick. Makes this great Pad page just too risky to use.
Some button changes in Tonestack rely on 1.5secs press before overwriting, Pads should be same and lockable.
Please in your next update.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Flexible, powerful...

*2023-03-24*

*Edit: 2023* Dude, you are killing me with these “new version upgrades”. I spent a ton of money on this app, (much more than I normally would). And now I discover that to stay current, I have to buy a new version and likely repurchase all the add-ons that I purchased for THIS one? That feels really wrong to me. I own much of the stuff you produce going back a very long time and as you can see below I have been a strong supporter, but after buying expensive updated versions of Galileo, and Magellan (I was mostly glad to support them even if they were costly) I now discover I need to move to new versions of Steel Guitar and ToneStack and I see no way to move my IAPs for either. Yeah, I’m sorry but I think I’m gonna have to let these go and focus my resources elsewhere.

I can't really speak to the quality of the simulations, I will leave that to people who have spent more time with guitar amps and pedals. I will say that from my perspective as a long time producer of experimental music, this set of tools seems much better than most of the others like it for building original/odd/unique effects chains. That made it worth buying the full collection for me. There is some very neat stuff in here like the octiver, space echo, and rotary speaker. I feel like I have just scratched the surface, but I can tell it's going to be a well used tool in my arsenal.

### 5/5 — This has such a nice sound and flow but no auv3

*2021-01-15*

Any hope of a port? I’ve bought a few modules over the years. And magellan is a cool synth the whammy and pitch shifter in here are some of my favorites would love to use them more.

### 5/5 — Great for gigging

*2020-10-12*

Tube breakup is more real sounding than others IMO. Midi learn gives live gig options with BlueBoard and midi control knobs. I like it.

### 5/5 — Soddisfatto

*2020-06-20, version 3.3*

### 5/5 — Typical

*2019-11-27*

I was skint and couldnt complete the Guitar rig, Im not paying £54 for it but ill give you the £13 you were asking yesterday

### 5/5 — The best

*2018-05-07*

Over the years, I've tried and paid for most of the other guitar effect / signal processing apps and this has to be the best so far. One of the best features, that put it above the rest for me, is the ability to access the apps I've already paid for (eg, Amplitube, Ampkit, etc) using the Inter App function. The add-ons are real value for money and the "bundles" are a lot cheaper than the competition. I use the app with my Fusion Guitar and the quality is amazing. Install it ... You won't be disappointed.

### 5/5 — One of if Not The Best

*2018-05-04*

Solid as a rock, updates don’t break the app (like some other sim apps). Great variety of amps, cabinets, effects, and mics. Should go down in history as a benchmark for iOS guitar amp sims.

### 5/5 — The best

*2018-01-14*

Best guitar app ever . I own a helix that’s great cost over £1000 . This app for what ever the price is it’s well worth the money !
