## What is TONT?

todo or not todo. That is the question.

Most to-do apps want you to open them. TONT would rather you did not. Start a task and it follows you to the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, timer ticking, until you pause it or finish it. Free to start. One purchase unlocks the rest.

LIVE ON YOUR LOCK SCREEN
Swipe a task right and it gets a card on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, with a live timer. Pause, resume or finish it from the card. Free runs one task at a time, with its subtasks. Pro times more than one task at once.

THE TIMER
The timer runs in the background. Pause it, come back an hour later, resume, and it adds up only the time you actually worked. Keep a task running for days and it counts the days.

FOUR BUCKETS, NO FOLDERS
Today, Tomorrow, Upcoming, Someday. That is the whole filing system. A task made in Today is due two hours from now, unless it is late at night, in which case it waits for 8 AM. Tomorrow means 9 AM. Upcoming means a week out. Someday has no date and no pressure.
Need Work and Home kept apart? Swipe past your last group to make a new one. Each group gets a name, a colour and its own four buckets. Free keeps two groups. Pro keeps as many as you like.

SUBTASKS
Long press a task to break it into steps. The parent shows how many are done. Finish the parent and the steps go with it.

APPLE REMINDERS, BOTH WAYS (PRO)
One switch in Settings. Your tasks appear in a TONT list in Apple Reminders with their group name in front, and anything you add there comes back into the app.

REMINDERS THAT HELP YOU START
Five kinds, each with its own switch. Time to Start is timed from how long the task takes. Daily Plan is one calm note each morning. Rescue nudges you once when a task slips, then follows up after a day, three days and a week. Deadlines ring at the due time. Fresh Start welcomes you back after time away.
Act from the notification: start now, snooze, mark it done, or move it to today, tomorrow or Someday.

GET GOING IN A MINUTE
A few quick questions on first launch, every one skippable. Then you type your first task and watch it land on your Lock Screen. A two-step tour shows how to start it and where it lives. The full tour is in Settings.

HISTORY
Tap the clock to see what you finished, when you started and how long it took. A calendar view shows the pattern by day. Groups show up there too. Free shows the last seven days. Pro shows all of it and adds search.

NOTHING IN THE WAY
Black screen, dark mode only. No ads, no accounts, no sign-up. The first time you open it, a short setup gets you to your first running task. After that, open the app, see your tasks, get to work.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 4.1.2 — 2026-10-22

Smoother swiping, and a Lock Screen you can count on.

• Swiping between groups is smoother, and a quick flick carries straight into the slide.
• Complete on the Lock Screen always completes the task, even when TONT wasn't open.

FIXES
• Focus time counts how long a timer actually ran, without adding up timers that overlap.
• A timed session stays with its task after a rename, or when two tasks share a name.
• The group name sits centered in the color band again.

### 4.1 — 2026-10-20

TONT is free now. Todo or Not Todo Pro is one purchase, no subscription.

Free runs one task at a time with its subtasks, keeps two groups and shows seven days of history. Pro times more than one task at once and adds as many groups as you like, your full history with search, and Apple Reminders sync.

Bought TONT before 4.1? You keep all of it.

ALSO NEW
• A new first run. A few questions, every one skippable, then your first task goes straight to the Lock Screen.
• Streaks, with milestones and cards you can share.
• Finished tasks move to a Done today section.
• Share a group as text, and paste an AI's answer back in as tasks.
• Back up and restore your list, or import and export it as a .tont file.
• A switch in Settings to stop sharing usage analytics.

FIXES
• Overdue counts update the moment a task passes its due time.
• Tapping a notification opens its task, in its group.

### 4.0.3 — 2026-10-12

Nine gestures. One minute. Then we get out of the way.

TONT has always been quick once you know it. The problem was the knowing. 4.0 fixes that with a walkthrough that appears once, on your first open, and shows you the nine gestures one spotlight at a time, on your real list. Create, edit, start, see it on the Lock Screen, finish, delete, make a group, find your groups, and one you may not have found yet.

If you already know them, tap Skip. It will not ask again. Upgrading from an earlier version? You will not see it at all unless you ask, from Replay walkthrough in Settings.

ALSO IN 4.0
• Groups. Swipe past your last group to make a new one, give it a name and a colour, and it gets its own Today, Tomorrow, Upcoming and Someday. Move a task between groups from the long-press menu.
• Three Live Activities at once. Each running task gets its own card, and each card says how many others are running. Tap a paused card to resume it. Tap any card and the app opens on that task.
• Overdue follow-ups. A task that slips gets one nudge, then a reminder after a day, three days and a week, with Set to Today right on the notification.
• Notifications lead with the group name, and tapping one opens the task it names.
• Daily Plan now alternates a reflective note with a plain "do this first".
• Copy a task's text from the long-press menu.
• Tap outside a text field, or swipe down, to put the keyboard away.
• On iPhone, the app stays in portrait.

FIXES
• A long title stays inside its Live Activity card instead of pushing it apart.
• The Live Activity timer keeps its size across the hour mark, and keeps counting past 24 hours.
• Paused time is no longer counted twice when a task resumes.
• Deleting a task ends its Live Activity, and its subtasks' cards too.
• Deleting a group asks first, even when the group is empty.
• A database that fails to open is set aside and kept, never wiped.
• A task goes overdue once per deadline, not once per launch.
• Overdue notifications show the task title and nothing else.
• Renaming a group updates every reminder that names it.
• A vertical drag that starts on a task row scrolls the list.
• Analytics no longer takes screenshots of your sessions.

### 3.6 — 2026-08-27

Reminders that actually help you start.

NEW: FIVE KINDS OF REMINDER
Each one can be switched on or off on its own in Settings.
• Time to Start: tells you when to begin, based on how long the task takes
• Daily Plan: a calm moment each morning to choose your focus
• Rescue: one gentle nudge when a task slips, never more than once a day
• Deadlines: a reminder at the due time
• Fresh Start: a friendly invitation back if you have been away

NOW IN YOUR LANGUAGE
Every reminder is fully translated. Switch language in Settings and notifications follow straight away.

QUIETER BY DESIGN
Reminders no longer arrive at odd moments. Every notification is timed from your task, not from when you last opened the app.

FIXES
• Snoozing a reminder now works reliably
• Editing a task title or duration updates its reminder
• Moving a task to tomorrow always moves a full day
• Notification buttons only appear when they can actually do something

### 3.5 — 2026-06-01

• Cleaner mornings — completed tasks now clear automatically at midnight so your list starts fresh each day.
• Smarter onboarding — the tutorial tasks no longer reappear after you've cleared them.
• Refreshed late-night planning copy for better readability.
• Reliability tweaks to tutorial loading.
