UI sometimes too simple, no hashtag options
The UI is nice and simple, but sometimes a bit too simple (posts with CW or hidden portions can benefit from a bit more visual distinction/elements). There is no option to long press a hashtag from the timeline and follow/mute/etc, which was the dealbreaker for me since the Mastodon experience relies heavily on hashtags.

Simple yet advanced
I’ve been bouncing among Mastodon clients but ultimately settled on this one. The interface is very intuitive and simple. But don’t be fooled, it has full access to ever advanced feature. Easy browsing of your home feed, local and federated feeds, even special trending section. Look and feel is very natural and twitter like. Says it’s designed with Chinese users in mind, but I’m not Chinese and I still love it. Well thought out, well designed. I keep exploring other free clients but this is the consistently the best. I’m sure paid options might be even better but trust me, among fully free offerings, this is the best.

Long term user, like the app very much BUT…
The last three updates going back two months have not included the reason for the update. And it literally says here in the apple store: “this updated version includes: __________ “ nothing. Not even a more button as a tease. I’d like some transparency. That used to exist here. I don’t know what’s happening now, and if it’s just sloppiness… I find that concerning. I hope there’s not sloppiness in regard to security.
Just changing— I hope temporarily— my review to a 3 ⭐️ from 5 ⭐️ due to this issue around a lack of update transparency without explanation.

Makes for a really nice social media experience
I tried this app after just using a browser for Mastodon on mobile for some time. It makes using Mastodon very like the experience of Twitter of old, before that turned into an increasingly unpleasant place for me. It is nice to have a social media app that really works well on a phone with the content from the Fediverse.

Needs some improvement
The only reason I use Tooot over other apps is because it’s the only one with admin notifications. I’ve been using another app, but I’d never know when someone joined my server until I checked my admin panel. Missed a few reports because I didn’t see them in my email, so having those in my notifications is a good feature to have.
One thing I wish this app would fix is the translation feature. My server uses DeepL and this app uses Google. The one I use reads like it was written in English. I also wish my notifications would auto refresh instead of having to manually refresh it every time my phone gets a push notification from this app. Really my only issues with it.
