Save your $3.99. **Developer response:** It's much easier to use the app now. We provide step-by-step instructions as you use it. We've added a stationary (sitting mode) that corresponds better to how many users expect to use the app. We show a 40 second video that explains the difference between Roomscale and the new Stationary mode. If you have questions, or want to try the next version before it is released, please write to hello@toothfairycamera.com ### 1/5 — Wasted My Time *2022-01-31* What a waste of time downloading this app. Just a few seconds to capture a video and can’t even edit or preview very well. **Developer response:** Free version of the app can create very short moves. With a purchase the app can create videos that are about 1 minute long. If you tap ‘?’ there are multiple short videos demonstrating how to edit the flight path, make her fly backwards or sideways, make her dissappear as she flies around a corner, change the lighting to match your environment. It really makes the whole story come to life, but… she is the size of, and looks just like, a Barbie doll. Too large in my personal opinion, and she does look too fake when she’s up close in detail. Took a few screenshots of the preview video when she’s all lit up and blurred out, and it’ll work just fine. Not paying for this crap app. Biggest down side to this app, is it states it wants to record your screen without a preview, the entire time it’s open. If I’d known someone would be watching wherever I point my camera, I would have never downloaded this. A total invasion of privacy! **Developer response:** Hi, Happy to hear you were able to use the app to create some screenshots you were happy with! Since you wrote this review we have made some changes: You can scale the fairy. Her skin will look more realistic in many lighting situations (we recommend you also explore the lighting options you have in the app as this can make a huge difference). Regarding the screen recording: I can see why the dramatic wording of the popup text could have spooked you! Everything you do in the app stays on your device. Videos you save with the app are handled exactly like videos you save with most other apps: they are not transferred anywhere, unless you specifically choose to do so yourself. Moderately Hard to learn but once you get the hang out it, you’re able to create something believable. I shot three short clips while my daughter slept, then used another app to put the videos together into a 30 second clip of the fairy coming up the stairs, through the hall, into her bedroom and back out. She has been replaying the video non stop, she’s amazed. She asked how I knew the fairy was there and why I didn’t wake her up. I said parents have good listening ears and can hear the chimes that come from the fairy wings, and that if children see the fairy, the fairy can never come back, like Santa. That was good enough for her. She’s 5. **Developer response:** Changing the skin tone (as well as hair and clothing) is free. Tap on the skin colored dots to do so. It is only longer moves and saving of videos that are available with a purchase. Thank you so much for taking the time to write about the experience you shared with your daughter! They have really improved things. Give it a try! It’s so much more simple and has clearer instructions. You can design your tooth fairy and the size and everything. It’s easy peasy now. It’s extremely impressive what this thing can do. Just shoot a few clips and tell your kid, you didn’t want to scare the fairy, so you were being careful. Understandably this is not also a video editing software. I couldn’t be happier. Best 3.99 I’ve ever spent. **Developer response:** Thank you so much for that!! That really means a lot to us! Previously the app only worked in Roomscale mode (stand up and walk around). We've added Stationary mode (sitting mode) which is how we found many users expect the app to work, and we've also made some videos that explain the difference in how those modes work, and we show step by step instructions. Roomscale has the benefit of giving users complete freedom to create the fairys flight path in 3D, while Stationary allows parents (that perhaps are tired from a long day) to do everything (design the flightpath, and also film the fairy) while staying seated. This completes the experience for them. While the free version lets me make quick, on-the-spot videos for the kids, the Pro version lets me do more elaborate videos to send to the children & add to my website. Kids absolutely go crazy when they are these videos. Great for teachers especially because you can show the fairies in the classroom. What kid wouldn’t want to go to school and sit where fairies have been? ### 2/5 — Didn't work for me *2025-04-03* It said "point camera to the floor and move around ", I was walking at night for 10 minutes moving the camera around but nothing happened. Tried both modes, with and without light, nothing **Developer response:** Hi, like many other AR apps this app requires both some light and some visible details in your environment in order to work. If it was very dark I would suggest switching on some light or trying the app in daytime, and possibly in a different environment where there are more visible details, for the camera to learn where in space it is. It should not take more than about 5 seconds before a magic wand pops up, and then the app is ready. In your case: if it's very dark or if there are no visible details in your environment for the camera to pick up, I would suggest using Tooth Fairy Camera (the non pro version of the app instead) - that app can function even in complete darkness, and doesn't need any visual details in your environment to function. ### 2/5 — Horrible App *2024-07-02* This app looked cute but its very hard to use.
