NDI was ok but iPad always 30fps despite correct config. The dev never wanted to fix. Not a cheap app when you add essential IAPs. As a result, I can no longer recommend this switcher. Check out some of the developer’s NDI tools — many of which are excellent. ### 3/5 — App is a little buggy. Crashes when using 4 to 5 camera on iPad 11. *2022-09-16, version 1.3.1* App is nearly there. Outstanding issues are that it crashes when feeding in 5 to 6 cameras, and the NDI streaming to another computer does not work at all. I.e.the stream does not appear on the receiving computer on the same LAN which i checked with the NDI tool set. Lastly you can’t choose where to save the recorded files, so on an iPad it reverts to the camera roll, which will automatically rename the files and change the resolution of the recorded files on and iPad 11 pro. If all of these issues were addressed I would change my review to 5 stars. I tested this using a iPad Pro 11 with a class compliant 10GB network card as well and a properly spec’ed WiFI6 AX network. ### 3/5 — Needs rtmp *input* *2022-09-12* Looking for something just like this to connect two GoPros and switch between them. Unfortunately, it appears rtmp support is limited to streaming OUT to rtmp. GoPros stream out to rtmp. I tried another Wi-Fi router , and had the Wi-Fi router right next to the ipad and the iphone, for a good signal strength, but get same results, it freezes. I also have Fiber Optic high speed internet Service at my Residence, and it’s very fast, so it cannot be a Network issue, nor anything wrong with my IPad Pro 4th Gen, or my IPhone 12 Pro Max. 512 GiG. I have an app that Apple used to have for 5 Bucks, it was called Reco Studio, I just tried it with my IPad Pro 4th Gen, and my IPhone 12 Pro Max, on the same Wi-Fi router, and it works excellent, and doesn’t freeze! There is something wrong with the Top Director App. I did reach out to the Technical Support, was told that the problem appears to be my slow router or iPad and iPhone. I don’t think so. Please update the app so it doesn’t freeze, also, update the app so the iPhone doesn’t have to start recording in order to sync it to the iPad. Latest update 7/28/2024, I just completed the latest update this morning, when launching the Top Director app now, I keep getting the option to delete the Top Director album, and every time I select “Don’t allow, the app will not open, and now after trying several times of saying don’t allow, I finally decided to try “allow”, now the app crashes every time. I power-cycled my IPad Pro 4th Gen, and tried to open the app, but it still crashes. Please fix the issue. Thank you.. **Developer response:** The app asks you to delete the album because there are more than one same TopDirector name albums on your device, which are probably created by different versions, simply following the app to correct it please. Go to iOS Settings-> TopDirector to allow TopDirector to visit your photos to play out, network to receive input etc. Or delete the app and reinstall again within all the access . Typically poor network or lower configuration of iPad & iPhone can cause the unstable connection. ### 1/5 — horrible terrible...and that's the nice take *2022-11-12* Want an app that crashes at the worst time, here is your app. Want an app that loses your social media setting, by all means, get this app. Want an app with lots of promise, and gets you just about the finish line without getting you to end of the race, well just waste your money right here. Is there something less than one star, maybe an imploding super nova, that is what I'd like to give this waste of time. **Developer response:** What a shame to hear that. But the design of the titles leaves much to be desired. ### 5/5 — A true game-changer for portable churches *2025-12-18, version 1.8.4* ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Top Director has completely changed how we handle video as a portable church. The fact that this app runs with zero wires is a total game changer. No long cable runs, no tangled mess, no setup stress. We can walk in, power up, and go live. One of the best parts is the ability to pick and choose only the upgrades you actually need. You’re not forced into an expensive, bloated system. Between that flexibility, not needing dozens of extra cords, and being able to use devices we already owned, this app literally saved us thousands of dollars compared to traditional setups. When we discovered the Bluetooth video switcher on Amazon made specifically for this app, we knew instantly this was the right solution for us. Having that level of control without extra hardware fits perfectly with a mobile, fast-setup environment. If you’re a church, ministry, or organization that sets up and tears down regularly, and you want professional results without professional-level headaches, Top Director is absolutely worth it. You can create an NDI camera feed from almost any device of PC for extra cameras and worship lyrics on screen. Only thing is you really should have a serious internet connection and strong router to run multiple wireless cameras. The ability to color grade with LUT’s, use transitions live, ad background music, and video intros and outros make this an absolute beast do a system. Cost- Honestly, we bought the $399 Bluetooth switcher console, and about $100 worth of in app upgrades, not realizing they came free with the console 😂. Even with that, our out of pocket expenses are way down over all and we OWN the system, not just another year of hundreds of dollars in subscriptions. Do the math. Win win. Highly recommended. ### 5/5 — All the features of large, broadcast switchers! *2023-07-25* I really loved using this app. And eventually, I did purchase most of the pay features. However, my iPhone was acting up and I had to delete a lot of apps for memory. Top Director was one of the apps I had to delete. Now that I have redownloaded this app, I don’t see any way I can recover the features try at I ALREADY PAID FOR! Although this app is amazing, I will not spend any more money on it, since I already paid for most of them. I think there were only maybe 2-3 features that I did NOT purchase. Any help? Any fix? I would love to be able to use this app again. The developer keeps improving and adding features. No ridiculous rent to pay to use the app and it's additional features, pay once and that's it. So far this app has been great, everything seems obvious and easy to use. Layout and functionality is well thought out. Also from a developer that respects privacy and one time purchases, there’s a lot to love about this app. Respect to the people at TopDirector and thanks for creating this app 😀 ### 5/5 — Great product, support, and price *2021-12-27* I downloaded TopDirector and purchased several in-app features. TD features are one time purchases compared to monthly subscription of competing products. Better value with TD. I did have a little trouble with initial setup. There is a refresh arrow and “Restore” for purchases you have to utilize properly to get working. NDI in app purchase works great now, but lagged and locked up on initial install. However, after a quick delete and re-install of both TD and TDCam apps on iPad and iPhones, respectively it works flawlessly! 1080p with very low latency. Barely noticeable video delay (latency). Support responded in less than 24 hours! I had already resolved NDI problem, but support also responded with a future update regarding a use case I proposed. TopDirector VIEW app is scheduled to be released soon. Been a very positive customer experience. Looking forward to next feature update. ### 5/5 — Is this the future? *2021-10-24* NDI seem like a very good protocol for the future. I came across this app while looking at possible solutions for my venue refurb. It’s really quite good. Why do we need a clunky vision switch when we can use this tech. I have asked the team about adding osc control so we can use stream decks to give a hands on control. Been very impressed that they email me back within mins to ask more question..
