### 4/5 — Miss print

*2026-06-22, version 28.10.2*

After being dragged into the 21st-century, I have come to enjoy reading the enewspapers each day. I do miss print though, especially for doing puzzles. This is why I’m giving the four out of five star rating.

### 4/5 — Latest version bug

*2026-03-12, version 28.9.0*

I really liked being able to use the arrow keys on the iPad for moving the page up, down, left, and right. With the latest version I can no longer use the arrow keys.

### 2/5 — It’s fine

*2025-11-02, version 28.5.4*

Not a bad app itself but as a decently tech savvy person, I cannot figure out how to cancel my subscription. Stopping the subscription is not user-friendly. It says it’ll be charged to iTunes subscription, but when you go there it says “no subscriptions”, even though I got an email about an upcoming charge. Frustrating

### 4/5 — Works well

*2025-10-13*

I use the iPad for reading the newspaper. I have the ability to use the left-right, up-down arrow keys which is a real plus.

### 3/5 — Balance

*2025-09-05, version 28.1.0*

A half truth, told as a whole truth is an untruth.

### 2/5 — I wish I could use it

*2025-08-09, version 28.1.0*

What a junk app this is now! It hasn’t worked flat a couple of weeks. I want my money back! It gets a no star rating

### 3/5 — No app application appeared!

*2025-06-12, version 28.1.0*

Useless, nothing for me to “enter” on it for my iPad!

### 3/5 — New version

*2025-05-11*

I use the iPad for reading the newspaper. With the new version the ability to use the left-right, up-down arrow keys has been removed. Also, with the new version installation the number of security verifications (choose the windows with motorcycles, or buses, etc) was ridiculous.

### 2/5 — Necessary evil

*2025-03-24, version 28.1.0*

Newspaper apps must be hard. They’re balky, bulky, and temperamental.

### 2/5 — Needs fixing

*2024-11-06*

This app used to work OK but it no longer does. Many days I can’t get to the newspaper because I keep getting asked to subscribe. Signing into my account does not solve the problem. When I submit requests for help, they are not answered.

### 2/5 — Pop-up ads

*2024-07-24, version 27.11.1*

Reading online with cell phone is tough enough. If we have to pay the yearly subscription price we should not be subjected to the annoying pop-up ads. Plus, can’t go back and see previous editions. So if miss a day you out of luck. COME ON MAN!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Online paper

*2025-05-30, version 27.11.2*

Cannot get the enewspaper to load. Very very frustrating and annoying enough to cancel. Also cannot pull up comics and is a main reason I read the newspaper

### 1/5 — No app application appeared!

*2025-04-30, version 28.1.0*

Useless, nothing for me to “enter” on it for my iPad!

### 1/5 — Online paper

*2025-04-15*

Horrible horrible cannot navigate or read

### 1/5 — Needs fixing

*2024-12-21, version 27.14.0*

This app used to work OK but it no longer does. Many days I can’t get to the newspaper because I keep getting asked to subscribe. Signing into my account does not solve the problem. When I submit requests for help, they are not answered.

### 1/5 — Necessary evil

*2024-07-14*

Newspaper apps must be hard. They’re balky, bulky, and temperamental.

### 1/5 — CJ online app

*2023-12-19, version 27.5.1*

Not all articles will enlarge
For example, in the USA Today edition I could not access the article about the Reacher show
I couldn’t access a main sports article on golf
I hope this isn’t a common problem

### 1/5 — Terrible news site

*2022-09-20, version 26.12.5*

Two week old stories, poorly written articles. This is one of the worst news sites I have ever encountered.

### 1/5 — Worst newspaper app ever

*2021-07-24, version 26.5.9*

Ever since cjonline changed to this app last March, it has been terrible. It only works for 1-2 days then stops working with a message to call customer service, saying “We’re sorry.” I have called dozens of times in order to fix the problem. If they were truly sorry they would get a better app. I am soon going to drop the digital paper.

### 1/5 — News?

*2021-06-01, version 6.5.8*

Purports to be providing news, but when you have to wade through articles which were updated 140+ days ago (business section), that isn’t news. We see the same "news" article day often day.

### 1/5 — New App

*2020-12-27, version 6.2.2*

Old platform/app much easier to navigate.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Topeka Capital-Journal review

*2025-11-03, version 28.5.4*

I enjoy reading the paper everyday. It does a nice job of covering local, national and world news. I especially enjoy the daily comics.

### 5/5 — Great way to get my news!

*2025-10-17, version 28.5.4*

I love getting my newspaper on my phone!

### 5/5 — Current News

*2025-08-14, version 28.1.0*

I enjoy getting the update on Kansas news, both sports and political. Keep up the good work! I look forward to reading the paper every morning and catching up on the latest news on state politics, sports teams, and business news.

### 5/5 — Caffeine Ritual

*2025-07-21, version 28.1.0*

Without my morning Topeka Capital Journal “fix” my decades old caffeine ritual wouldn’t be possible. Alan Feldhausen, Marysville.

### 5/5 — Current News

### 5/5 — Great way to get my news!

*2025-06-09*

I love getting my newspaper on my phone!

### 5/5 — Regional news

*2025-06-07, version 28.1.0*

While I can get national news from TV and newspapers, Northeast Kansas and Kansas as state level news, the Topeka Capital-Journal is still trying to keep readers informed about news from the capital of Kansas and our favorite sports teams from high school to the pros. If this regional coverage stops, then so will my subscription to the paper.

### 5/5 — Good local and regional coverage

*2025-05-12, version 28.1.0*

The Capital Journal does stays on top of State news from the capital while reporting on local changes and sports. The easy connection to USA Today is also great.

### 5/5 — Caffeine Ritual

*2025-05-08*

Without my morning Topeka Capital Journal “fix” my decades old caffeine ritual wouldn’t be possible. Alan Feldhausen, Marysville.

### 5/5 — Love CJ Online!

*2024-07-23, version 27.11.1*

I learned to read with this newspaper!
