### 4/5 — Constantly asking me to log in

*2023-04-30*

Glad to have the news but is constantly asking me to log in even if I already logged in

### 2/5 — More about what Activities are going on in Topeka

*2023-02-10*

I miss the activities calendar we used to have in the paper (what to do in Topeka this weekend). To me, the paper is a few long articles about local news in the first 2,3 pages then it’s all USA Today news plus lots of ads. I miss our old paper!

### 3/5 — Capitol Journal

*2022-08-31, version 3.3.14*

Please report game scores and other current news for Topeka. Also print current events happening in Topeka. Since we are a local paper, please print local news.

### 4/5 — Great way to read the newspaper

*2022-06-27, version 3.3.14*

Good support staff also. Digital version saves on paper. Try this app on your ipad.

### 4/5 — The app is good for us

*2022-06-19, version 3.3.14*

The app is easy for this elder to use and looks like actual the newspaper which we took for 40 years looks. But setting it up took me weeks of trying to find the right format without getting the app. Better directions and examples would be helpful. Glad I finally tried it.
I love the local news and the legislative news coverage. The Kansas legislature is always pulling something that is contrary to what the people of Kansas need or want, so the state newspaper is usually a good way to be informed.
When we travel now we don’t have to stop the paper or worry about it accumulating in the drive. Plus we get a look at the USA Today.

### 3/5 — Decent app

*2022-05-22, version 3.3.14*

This is a good app. I don’t love the Topeka Capital Journal as it has a liberal bias, but it allows me to get news for the state.

### 4/5 — Capital journal introduction

*2022-03-24, version 3.3.14*

We are moving to the Topeka area soon. The quality reporting on what is happening there and editing of National and world events is an exciting reintroduction to the area.
The internet version is clear and easy to use.

### 4/5 — E-edition

*2022-03-23, version 3.3.14*

It works great. Don’t try to improve it. Thank you

### 4/5 — Local news done well

*2021-10-22, version 3.3.14*

Some of the columns are difficult or impossible to read. I cannot read the comics because they are too blurry. But it is a convenient way to get my local news. Easy to navigate.

### 5/5 — Top Topeka News

*2021-08-25, version 3.3.14*

A quick & way to find out top mews in town.

### 3/5 — Online news

*2021-07-29, version 3.3.14*

When it works it’s really good. But I’ve had to delete and reload app repeatedly as it becomes unresponsive.

### 5/5 — Sometimes

*2021-07-15, version 3.3.14*

Sometimes I can’t open the paper. I have to log out and log back in. It also seems the paper is smaller in content than a year ago. We are adjusting to the different style.

### 5/5 — Love

*2021-05-27, version 3.2.63*

Love reading my Topeka Capital-Journal!

### 4/5 — review

*2021-05-13, version 3.2.63*

The paper is much easier to read with the present app. Used to read the Hutchinson paper first but now I read the journal first and only check the Hutchinson paper for the obituary to see if any friends or former customers from Liberal’ have passed

### 5/5 — Great App

*2021-05-07, version 3.2.63*

The app is very user friendly. Very easy to navigate the paper. Great to have the paper delivered early every day. No need to search the ditch for a water soaked or snow covered hard copy paper.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Print Edition at often Fails to display

*2022-01-21, version 3.3.14*

The app often fails to display the paper at all and support can’t fix the issue and several attempts

### 1/5 — Scam

*2021-10-21, version 3.3.14*

This is a fake. Earlier this year, a promotional price of $39 for 6 months of digital delivery of the TCJ. Since we needed to renew and my husband finally could update the app on his new iPad, we paid for it. For two weeks we got the daily paper just fine in the app. Then it stopped and kept giving us an error message that we needed to call a certain phone number to resolve it. I did and reached an Indian-accented person who told me they could immediately see there was a problem with the credit card we used and read off a number I didn’t recognize the number, but kept thinking it must have been my husband’s farm VISA, and it could have been unknowingly expired. I stupidly agreed to pay $99 for a year’s worth of the paper. When I asked him, he reminded me that was NOT the card or number we used and neither of us recognized. We looked up on our statement and we had indeed been charged $39 for “digital subscriptions. I tried to call the same number back, but after many tries, we get a click- disconnect. I’ve tried twice to call the actual office number for “circulation” and get an answering machine telling me to leave my number and a message. I tried emailing them. I never got a call or email back. I emailed the main editor. Nothing. My husband and son actually stopped by the real Topeka Capitol Journal building in Topeka and the place is papered over and looks closed and abandoned. They’re not letting anyone come into the building. My son is sitting here now trying to get it to work and not even the “demo” papers are loading. We’ve triple-checked my account sign in and password. I can access my account on their webpage and it shows I’ve paid $99. So where are you TCJ? Hello? Knock knock?

### 1/5 — Something is wrong in the update

*2021-08-15, version 3.3.14*

When you open the app in the iPad the banner pops up and doesn't allow you to read the article. Might as well read the hardcopy.

### 1/5 — Methis is now

*2021-07-28, version 3.3.14*

This is now a worthless app. Previous to the update it worked fine. You could swipe to get to the next article after downloading it. Now you have to click back-and-forth. This is a less than zero app.

### 1/5 — This app stinks

*2021-07-24, version 3.3.14*

I’m not sure how much longer I am going to continue paying for the digital version of this newspaper when the app usually doesn’t work. I have been a long time subscriber to CJ, probably almost 50 hears. The former app on my iPad worked great but the present one, introduced last March, is worthless. It will work 2-3 days then stop, with an obnoxious message saying “We’re Sorry,” and then directing me to call customer service. I have done that repeatedly for a fix that lasts on a couple of days. Then rinse and repeat. I emailed the editor about this but never received a reply. The Kansas Reflector is a totally online newspaper with several former CJ reporters on staff. I may just go with them and forget about CJ completely.

### 1/5 — Recent iOS upgrade made iPad version unusable

*2021-04-27, version 3.2.63*

Well, everything was fine until the recent iOS upgrade and now the app will not open. Starts to open and immediately closes down. If the Cap Journal expects to sell digital editions, they need to ensure the app works on all operating systems. From what I see on the App Store, last upgrade was three years ago. Unacceptable.

### 1/5 — No paper

*2021-04-26, version 3.2.63*

I haven’t received the newspaper on line for several days. Very frustrating when I continue to be charged. This has happened in the past. I understand others are experiencing this problem

### 1/5 — Current Daily issue does not load when I open the app on my new iPad.

*2020-10-08, version 3.0.2*

Delete then re-install of the app does not fix this problem!

### 1/5 — Having to restart iPad to get current day’s paper

*2020-02-17, version 3.0.2*

Not pleased having to almost daily off/on of iPad just so I can read the day’s newspaper. Called Customer Service and they suggested deleting app and reinstall, which I did but problem persists. I give up! Will find alternative news source.

Downloading yet again cause problem persists.

### 1/5 — Terrible app. Terrible advertising banner on the iPad

*2018-02-18, version 3.0.2*

Terrible app. The blank advertising space on the top part of the iPad screen is ridiculous. I want to read the paper with the full screen on the iPad. Put the advertising in the paper, not on the top as a banner. The old version from years ago was infinitely better.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Topeka Capital Journal Print

*2023-01-16, version 3.6.24*

I love reading the Cap on my iPad. And I especially love that I can read it in “print” edition which looks just like the newspaper edition I read for so many years. A few years ago I had some technical sues with s. But within the last few months those have been resolved and I’m very pleased with the service.

### 5/5 — Easy to use!

*2023-01-10, version 3.6.24*

Thank you so very much for the tremendous improvements. I used to be frustrated, but now it is so very easy to use. I can read the paper with joy and enthusiasm! Thank you.

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2022-05-08, version 3.3.14*

I think the new software is excellent

### 5/5 — No waiting and wondering!

*2022-03-01, version 3.3.14*

Love having the paper when I wake up without worrying about delivery issues!

### 5/5 — Every day reader

*2021-10-27, version 3.3.14*

Grateful to have the CJ Online for early morning reading snd travel. I appreciate the USA Today editions as well.

### 5/5 — Great for while we travel

*2021-10-04, version 3.3.14*

I still enjoy the paper edition of the Topeka Capital-Journal, but when we travel, I can still know what’s happening at home. I prefer the “Print Edition” view. Easy to read and navigate.
