It is very challenging if they accidentally get turned off. One oddity I did find with this app is that often it will refocus the current item and there have been many times where I have turned off a critical device instead of the intended device. Not the worst if you are next to the lights. But when you buy remote lights, I would think it’s because you are not always currently at that location. If you live in the same spot I would give 5 stars. But because I had to drive 5 hours to repair. Awesome!! Even after 3yrs. Still works perfectly. ### 3/5 — Can’t set the location *2024-08-06, version 1.1.2* I followed the instructions to change the device location, but the app always saves my current location instead of the location I selected on the map. Therefore, the temperature estimate is always 5 to 10 degrees different from the actual temperature where the device is. When this company’s first products came out, it wasn’t difficult to setup and connect to Alexa echo devices. I just bought a set of wall plugs like the ones I bought before, but they will not connect with the new app, the olds don’t connect, only one switch connected to the app and I can’t share it with my Alexa app. No online help solves my problems. I’m never buying another one of these again. I’m literally going to replace the of 25 devices that I got working with a name brand stuff that will work seamlessly with my echoes. I’ve been dragging down on the page to refresh before I toggle; seems to help. The app and hardware I have show current usage stats and history. That is why I selected the hardware that led me to this app. Do wish I could see more detail, ‘zoom in’ on the time/date, but am overall happy with what I got. ### 4/5 — Outlets work great, App could use a few tweaks *2022-09-29, version 1.1.2* I bought the energy monitoring smart outlets to help me see how much energy my appliances were using. The outlets work great for my needs and were easy to set up. The reason I only rated this a 4 star was because the app in general is decent but there's some things that are missing I think would be nice to have. 1) getting a widget for the app would be nice, and not just one that can turn the outlets on/off but one that you can put the energy output in as well, so you wouldn't have to open the app just to see that. 2) some way to "lock" the power button in the app. The devices I have hooked up to mine are computers and smart devices, which it's not very good for them to be getting flipped on and off, and with the giant power button on the devices in the app, it makes me nervous sometimes navigating the app. 3) this one isn't too bad, it's just something that would be cool/nice to see, is a cost section for the energy. Like being able to put in how much a kWh is and then have a spot for the total, at least for the month, if not the day/week/year. Those are the main ones that come to mind as far as the app goes. I tried stopping location access while I was traveling but it keeps on using the time zone where I am at and not the time where it should be be. Also, during a power outage, the switches are very finicky and the light brightness usually goes to 0%. ### 1/5 — Account Went Missing After 2 Years *2023-03-09, version 1.1.2* My phone offloaded the app so I re-downloaded it. Upon opening TG, I was logged out. I tried logging back in with my email to no avail. When using the forgot password feature, it said my account “does not exist”. My account basically just disappeared into thin air after 2 years. Highly disappointing as I will now have to re-make my account and reinstall each individual plug. ### 1/5 — Not working *2022-11-27, version 1.1.2* Registration in app and on the website does not work. Do not use or buy this product. Would like to tell people that the product was good but unusable due to a crappy app. Guess you want $ from topgreener more than negative input. Will search somewhere else for a better smart switch. ### 1/5 — Will not pair *2020-03-29, version 1.1.0* I ordered a 4 pack of plugs and wasted several hours trying even at least one of them to pair to my network any and every way the listed. Never worked. Tired of dealing with something that doesn’t work. ### 1/5 — Can't schedule with brightness control *2019-04-07, version 1.0.3* I'm bummed. I like a lot about the switch and the software seems very reliable, but the main reason I bought the dimmer switch was to be able to setup a schedule for different brightnesses. Sadly there is no way to configure a specific brightness at a certain time of day. It seems obvious for a smart dimmer switch, but brightness is absent from their schedule UI, and time is not an event trigger in their scenarios UI. ### 2/5 — Buggy. Device’s intermittently lose connection. *2023-12-31, version 1.1.2* If this system worked consistently, that would be great, but it doesn’t. The devices constantly lose connection and need to be reconnected to Wi-Fi. It’s not a problem with my Wi-Fi. I have a very strong mesh system. I have 88 Topgreener devices (switches, dimmers, plugs and relays) installed so my connection issues are not isolated to just a few devices; it seems that all devices are unreliable. The app could also use a UX update. When you have 20 or so rooms the slider menu is really not ideal. And a customer for life. ### 5/5 — After 2 years, no problems *2023-01-20, version 1.1.2* The app is simple and easy to setup. Rock solid! I am now at 45 TOPGREENER devices in our home (Dimmers, Switches, Plugs, etc…). They all have worked flawlessly for over 2 years. I added a skill to Amazon Alexa and I control pretty much the entire house by voice. My lessons learned are give each unit you install a simple name. Plus, make a list mapping the MAC addresses to name and location of the device. You could map the IP addresses also, but if you use DHCP and you have a power failure or you reboot your router, the addresses might change. So MAC address mapping is the way to go. So if you ever have wifi issues, you can easily find which device is offline or other. Great products, simple to use app and adding the TOPGREENER skill to Alexa is a big plus. Recommended! Summary: if you plan on converting your home to an automated home, you need to be slightly geeky and understand some safe basic electric principles, Wi-Fi knowledge, IP addressing and what DHCP is, understand MAC addresses and if you use Alexa, well, you need to know how to add a skill.
