Near useless! App crashes every time you try and change parameters. I wish I would’ve bought a Flir thermal instead.

### 4/5 — Partly genius, but no iPad version. Also, camera alignment should use AI

I love the temp overlays, and some of the functionality of this app!
Couple problems:
app stays responsive)
- Why is no iPad-specific version compiled.? Seems like a pretty low hanging fruit
- Rotation of all controls should work in all directions (portrait/landscape/up-side-down) to provide needed flexibility to get the most out of this camera
- why does the app not use present my iPhone 16 Pro Lidar sensor and asks me to enter distance manually..?
- does the AI feature actually do anything..? At the very least it could auto-align the constantly offset outlines from the visual camera and the thermal camera without having to use the hard to discover manual alignment feature!

Hopefully you guys can address at least some of these concerns to make this app the greatest companion the device deserves

I love the temp overlays and some of the functionality of this app. 
Couple problems:
The camera is pretty unstable on my iPad mini (latest version) - it does come on, but I have to reinsert the camera pretty often to get it back to work after image either freezes or turns black (rest of app stays responsive)
- speaking of iPad, why is no iPad-specific version compiled.? Seems like a pretty low hanging fruit
- Rotation of all controls should work in all directions (portrait/landscape/up-side-down) to provide needed flexibility to get the most out of this camera
- why does the app not use present Lidar sensor and asks me to enter distance manually..?
- does the AI feature actually do anything..? 
Hopefully you guys can address at least some of these concerns to make this app the greatest companion the device deserves

Update. After working with tech support, I figured out you *must* set Wired Accessories = Automatically Allow When Unlocked for the iPhone to recognize the IR camera. If you choose Always Ask instead, the iPhone/camera handshake fails every time.

I can't understand the negative reviews here. Currently (early 2026), the app works great, is more user-friendly and has better features than Flir, for example. For example, you can set it so that the image display starts automatically when the camera is plugged in, and calibration is easy. I also like the detailed material table, which is extremely useful when the exact absolute value is important.

### 2/5 — Issues with auto rotate and dynamic colour temperature lock

A couple of bugs. Naturally the most productive way to hold the phone and connected camera is upside down. This allow the iPhone to rotate the screen 180 degrees to correct the image - so far so good. However if you lower the phone angle the phone automatically adjusts the image back 180 degrees. Bizarrely this does not happen if you are recording! When recoding the app locks the orientation. There is no way to lock the orientation in the Topdon app and if you lock the screen rotation in the iPhone quick access menu it only locks the screen if holding the phone the normal way around. Second issue is the dynamic temp slider at the right of the screen. Press the padlock and it allows you to set the temp range however by pressing the padlock again it then resets to default, or if you move the camera to another areas. On the Flir One you can set this temporarily and I had expected the same of this camera. Otherwise what is the point of allowing a quick unlock / lock feature. Yes you can manually define the temp scale but that is fixed until you change it. I was under the impression the temp change lasted for the session only. I note these cameras are now listed on the Topdon website as clearance. I fear that support for them will now dwindle and therefore I intend on returning the item. Th software is not working correctly / satisfactorily.
