### 5/5 — Just what I was looking for

*2015-06-22*

I was a little disappointed at first that this app didn't login to my account, but I don't trade much in my 401k, and I really wanted to track & measure the impact of of my reinvested dividends. It only took me 15-20 minutes to add my investments & dividends, it's a cool app, it updates the prices when I login, and has a passcode. It's simple to use. It provides me just what I want.

### 5/5 — Great for tracking value

*2015-03-06, version 3.3*

I bought this app hoping it would provide an easy way to track my ports. value and guess what.... It does that and more! If your on the fence about buying the app, forgo a cup of Starbucks coffee or that morning/afternoon sandwich and get the app! I recommend this to all investors!

### 5/5 — Great App, Responsive Customer Service

*2015-01-02, version 3.3*

Exactly what I was looking for. Does what I need it to do. Developer is open to suggestions and very responsive (responds within 2 days).

### 5/5 — Convenient

*2014-08-27, version 3.3*

Well designed app!

### 5/5 — Excellent app!!

*2014-06-06, version 3.3*

This is by far the best portfolio manager I have used, especially for value investors who want to see their TOTAL GROWTH including dividends (CAGR)

### 5/5 — Simply Great

*2014-05-12*

This is an excellent App if you want to track your holdings. I especially like that you can add cash dividends generated from your stocks, thus giving you a full picture on your return. Plus, it's possible to keep your "master" on one device (in my case, iPad, and transfer that dat to the App on my iPhone. Very nice.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2013-11-15, version 3.3*

This is a great app that does everything just as advertised. You can instantly keep up with all your stock and mutual fund investments. Love it!

### 4/5 — Needs Options

*2013-09-14*

Most portfolios contain at least one option (call or put). There is no way to enter an option, and track it, in this application, so, your "total return" is wrong and missing key information. This app need the ability to enter options, not just stock quotes. Seems like a simple fix. Most on-line portfolio tracking sites, like Yahoo Finance, provide for option tracking in your portfolio.

### 4/5 — Great app

*2013-08-27, version 3.2.1*

Great way to keep track of your investment performance.

### 4/5 — Well Done and Provides Great Info

*2013-04-02*

This is a very well done, down to earth portfolio tracker. Just enter in your trades and it gives you a snapshot at any moment on how well its performing. The only reason I didn't give it the full 5 stars is that it still doesn't support full-screen mode on the new iPhones/iPod Touches! Please include that in your next update!

### 4/5 — Excellent portfolio management

*2013-03-24, version 3.2.1*

Excellent for keeping track of your portfolio's performance. Works well with Canadian stocks.

Good job!

### 4/5 — Mr

*2013-02-02, version 3.2.1*

Great APP, but could be made better with ability to set high and low alerts for stock prices. Also would be great if dividends were automatically posted.

### 5/5 — Mr

*2013-01-19, version 3.2.1*

Great app. Very Clear format and easy to read data and info. I have tried other stock apps, but this is the best if you just want to monitor the return on your stock or mutual funds.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Mutual funds

*2018-02-03*

Stopped supporting mutual funds

### 1/5 — No longer tracks Mutual Funds

*2017-12-18*

Was the best, but now useless for 401k’s and IRA’s as it no longer tracks Mutual Funds.

### 1/5 — Total Return doesn’t support mutual funds or ETFs

*2017-12-15*

This app has been great until lately. It no longer supports mutual funds or ETFs. Pretty much useless for tracking my investments.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2011-09-25, version 3.1.4*

Unfortunately, it doesn't obtain accurate quotes for the stocks you input, even for many of the ultra-popular Vanguard funds. Obtaining quote data manually is exactly what I DON'T want to do...and is what having this app was supposed to avoid. The developer told me this problem can't be fixed, since they have no control over the external data sources they use to obtain the stock quotes. Useless for me; uninstalling today.

### 2/5 — Preferred stock symbols missing

*2024-10-15*

Most Preferred stocks aren’t available in 4.1 version. Been using this app for years and never had issues with updating preferred symbols. It doesn’t make sense to subscribe if I can’t update all my holdings.

### 2/5 — It used to be a 5, now at best a 2

*2017-12-18*

Have used this app for years to stay on top my diverse investments and been very pleased. For about the last two months they have been very slow to fix problems and when they finally "fixed" the failure to update all stocks and funds, only two brokerage houses would update. When they fix that and will continue to provide a continually functioning app I'll gladly give it a 5. Until then it's hardly useful. I may have to start over with another app that fixes their major problems promptly.

### 3/5 — Needs improvement

*2021-03-29*

First, the reviewers claiming the app not work with mutual funds are not 100% correct. The app does update the price for mutual funds each day. However, what it does not do is update the change in price from the previous day. This means you cannot use the app to check how much your portfolio has increased or decreased since the previous day as the changes (absolute price and percent) will always be zero if all you own are mutual funds.

Second, pay attention to the reviews that highlight the app requires the user to manually enter dividends. It is a lot of work to do this. Think of the days when people used to balance their checkbook once a month. Now, think of doing this ever time you use the app. The cloud based data suppler they are using (IEX Cloud) provides dividend information. Thus, the app should be able automatically do this whenever it updates the total value of the portfolio.

Third, the app should be able to link with individual brokerage accounts. This would eliminate the need to manually enter any information and ensure its calculate total value matches what your brokerage firm is reporting. Doing this would also allow it to report fees.

Fourth, adding some simple graphs would also improve the app. This could be as simple as plotting “total return” (plot what the app actually calculates).

Still, the app is more valuable than apps that do not consider dividends. This alone gets it 2 stars.

### 3/5 — great app,needs 1 fix

*2013-07-19, version 3.2.1*

it works great with any asset, takes auto update or manual update
can build many portfolios and can backup itself. BUT you cant export any of your reports metrics etc anywhere... no dropbox,no email,no wireless synch to pc. At one point or another you will want to incorporate this feature to your portfolio app.

### 3/5 — Great if data input afforded from accounts

*2012-09-09, version 3.2.1*

I loved the return calculations. The effort to input transactions is terrible having lost my data. Many other portfolio programs will download transactions directly from your trading accounts.
This would be great if it finished its software with this feature. Without it it's tedious at best.

### 3/5 — Doesn't sync with other devices

*2011-11-12, version 3.2*

This is a useful, well laid out app for the most part. I've written the developer twice and received no reply and that's never a good thing. Also annoying is the fact it will not sync between devices. If the developer would reply to emails and if the app would sync, it would be an excellent app. But, in the absence of that, it is just ok.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best program available

*2024-11-11*

This app is the best I have found to quickly monitor my portfolio results. It is easy to use and provides a better overview of my portfolio than the reports provided elsewhere. It is well worth the $3/month subscription fee to be able to see results quickly on my iPhone or iPad and know how my portfolio is performing with a quick glance. I have used this app for many years and I highly recommend it for anyone who is managing their own investments.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2020-02-19*

Just what you need. Could not ask for more. One thing could help is ability to move around stock holdings to different portfolios And auto dividend amount added to holdings.

### 5/5 — Get the Real return with the Best portfolio app EVER

*2017-12-08*

By far THE BEST app for the common investor. Easy to use and gives you the info you really need. Unlike other portfolio tools this one calculates TOTAL Return ( includes dividends). Most others don’t include dividends in their return calculations so all you see is the stock price appreciation, which is not your real return. With this tool you compare Apples to Apples! you can compare appropriately between stocks and mutual funds. I've been using for many years and totally satisfied.

### 5/5 — Good App

*2017-06-19*

Still love this app, issues have been corrected, it's user-friendly, and it gives you the info you need - it's a great app!

This is a good app, but has a few 'irritants' in it, like not always retracting a column when you swipe it (as instructed), and the like - small though, compared to the overall capability which is really good. Would definitely recommend it.

### 5/5 — No nonsense, the info you need

*2017-06-15*

I've used quite a few of these stock trackers through the years but this stands up as the best, no nonsense, only the info you need app for tracking performance. It's really surprising how many apps don't report CAGR. Very grateful for the update to 64bit to let it roll into next generation of IOS. I would have seriously considered not updating the iPad to the IOS OS just so I could keep this app going otherwise. Thank you for your work.

### 5/5 — Use daily!

*2017-06-08*

I use it daily on my phone to determine my current asset total return so I can make wiser trade decisions through the day. I keep a copy on my iPad but have all history to track a total return of the history of my accounts. I wish they had a mac store app for the computer.

### 5/5 — Fantastic App

*2017-05-26*

I love this app. I've been using it for years. Never a problem. The app is not updated often, but then it does need it. It does its job well and has very few bug fixes. This is one solid app. I also like that it doesn't try to tweak the UI with frequent changes.

### 5/5 — Great Program

*2015-11-07, version 3.3*

One of the best programs around. Covers all portfolio actions one would want. Easy to transfer portfolio between iPad and iPhone. And I've never lost data - backup up data automatically. Receives my highest recommendation !

### 5/5 — Good App

*2015-10-02, version 3.3*

Once you're set up, it's a great way to track your progress... Or lack there of!

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2015-08-15, version 3.3*

One more feature would be great: Automatically add dividends in some form, or alert that they've happened. It's tedious to check for them.
