### 4/5 — Love it, one critical bug though.

*2026-03-16, version 1.4.2*

I absolutely love this app, it’s amazing. But there’s one bug where if you create a directory then re-launch the app, you cannot access it via the file viewer. It still exists, as you cannot create another directory named the one that you cannot access. But other from that this is an amazing app.

Edit:
I have investigates further and it is the graphical file viewer as when I use “sys.dir()” for the directory I cannot access via the GUI, it appears, the directory I made starts with a period character, if that helps.

### 4/5 — Great App

*2020-06-11, version 1.4.2*

It just needs to chill with the iAP, I know, this is how you get money but maybe a free trial would be cool.

### 4/5 — Add some good things

*2019-10-26, version 1.4.2*

There should be less iap

### 4/5 — AWESOME APP

*2019-06-03, version 1.4.2*

It's a bit annoying to have to pay for some content, but still from far the best scripting app I've ever seen!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2016-02-22, version 1.3.7*

Only problem I have is that there is no way to turn auto tabbing off and so it formats all files
Even when you make a txt file for reading from.

### 3/5 — Works well - IAP is pricey

*2016-02-04, version 1.3.7*

App works well, but the IAP is quite pricey. Would but all the modules for .99 or 1.99 - ends up being like 10 for all the modules.

### 4/5 — Coroutine issue

*2015-12-15, version 1.3.7*

Love this app, I've bought almost all the libraries, created a complex framework, and even an online chatroom - but there is one issue that bothers me. When running a coroutine, it doesn't run as a separate thread, instead holds up the script until the coroutine is complete. This makes multitasking in my code impossible and keeps me from making really cool things. Can this PLEASE be fixed?

### 5/5 — Like it!!

*2015-09-25, version 1.3.5*

It's working great on 5c. I'm using the draw library and no crash so far. Very nice app to learn programming.

### 5/5 — AMAZING

*2015-07-12, version 1.3.5*

This app allowed me to learn and practice Lua when I was out of the house. It inspired me to learn GMod API and eventually code fluently.

### 4/5 — I have to pay for more stuff!!

*2015-06-10, version 1.3.5*

it is free to download the app but then there is in app purchase you have to pay for to use more commands so pretty much you have to pay to make a app you should try sketch lua it is also free to download but there is no in app purchase.

### 5/5 — Good

*2015-05-24, version 1.3.5*

Works surprisingly well for a cheap iOS app.

### 4/5 — Won't open anymore

*2015-05-06, version 1.3.5*

Please come out with a new update! The last update caused my Lua touch app to not open and I have several codes that I wrote on there that I can't get back. Please update! Great app I love it but it just won't open! PLEASE update!

### 5/5 — 10/10 Would Download Again

*2015-02-21, version 1.3.5*

Absolutely perfect for a person's first programming
language.

My reason is so I can develop Roblox games.

Everything is easy to understand.......

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Pretty Bad.

*2018-05-07, version 1.4.2*

Does not autocomplete or anything.

### 1/5 — Ripoff

*2017-07-07, version 1.4.2*

Total crap app.

### 1/5 — Awesome app, but...

*2015-07-23, version 1.3.5*

I moved all my files to a separate device. I have purchased all the extension libraries, but the "restore purchases" button won't seem to work on my new device.

### 1/5 — Crashes every time?

*2015-01-13, version 1.3.4*

It's a good idea but the app needs a lot of work. It immediately crashes when I try to edit a file.

### 1/5 — Was good

*2014-07-07, version 1.2*

Was a good app until it stopped supporting everything but iOS 7 bring back support for everything else please
(I am on an iPod touch 4g)

### 2/5 — Crash on startup :(

*2024-08-01, version 1.4.2*

Used to work wonderfully on my old iPhone 8, but crashes on startup after I transferred to an iPhone 11. I tried restarting my device, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling the app (which probably cleared all of my data), but nothing worked. Hope this gets fixed soon, this was one of my favorite apps and I used to love making small text-based games.

### 2/5 — Crash on startup :(

*2024-07-07*

Used to work wonderfully on my old iPhone 8, but crashes on startup after I transferred to an iPhone 11. I tried restarting my device, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling the app (which probably cleared all of my data ): ), but nothing worked. Hope this gets fixed soon, this was one of my favorite apps and I used to love making small text-based games.

### 2/5 — Dump the paid functions.

*2013-07-30, version 1.1.1*

The paid functions don't help. They limit learning. You have to pay $0.99 per function! 1/2 of the functions on the app are paid now. I wish I hadn't updated. :(

### 3/5 — Well…

*2021-09-24, version 1.4.2*

I got the app thinking it was the best thing in the world, all the libraries you could ever want, info about each one, all in the easiest scripting language I have ever come across, and cheap to say the least.

After trying my first program, a game called “FreakOut!”, I was sad to find out the graphics didn’t work correctly, and later seen that the audio library had errors also.

If touch lua is fixed I’ll use it every day, but poking around the forum it doesn’t look like this will ever happen.

So much for getting high hopes.

### 3/5 — Brilliant sort of free lua app.

*2017-09-04, version 1.4.2*

Overall the app is brilliant, but you need to pay for all the external libraries. If some libraries such as turtle were free, this would be better. But if your willing to spend money (like me in the future) this is the place for you. It has all sorts of different External libraries.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Absolute cinema

*2026-02-14, version 1.4.2*

It’s amazing, I can’t tell you how much I love it and it helped me. I can really see the effort and work put into this. It’s awesome keep doing it! I love it. It’s my wife

### 5/5 — This is… AMAZING!

*2021-07-27, version 1.4.2*

It’s very useful for me because I am looking forward to lua coding!

### 5/5 — My favorite coding app

*2020-03-26, version 1.4.2*

I made simple ”apps” using this as a kid. Im an adult now and I still use this pretty often to crunch numbers. I’d love to see the developers make a Javascript version of this.

### 5/5 — Really good

*2018-07-04, version 1.4.2*

Hardly crashes, compiles fast, all around is a good app. There are a few people giving bad ratings because of autocomplete, this is stupid, the app has tap to complete under the text, and even if you don’t use that option, any good programmer should be able to type a few extra letters.

### 5/5 — Very promising

*2017-03-27, version 1.3.9*

Works. And full documentation! Has graphing audio socket etc. libraries. Can replace any advanced calculators you have to pay for, and have some fun programming at finger tips

### 5/5 — Absolutely fantastic

*2016-11-22, version 1.3.9*

This app is a great tool for both new and experienced lua devs. Get it. NOW

### 5/5 — Great app

*2016-09-02, version 1.3.8*

This app fills an important niche and I'm glad it exists

### 5/5 — This is my favorite app

*2016-08-20, version 1.3.8*

Needs more libraries, Ill gladly pay for them 😄

### 5/5 — Nostalgia

*2016-07-28, version 1.3.8*

This app is nostalgia for me. I used to use this app on my old iTouch back in high school. I used this app to make programs for my math class. Sounds funny, I know, but it was a way for me to practice and to get somewhat familiar with the language. I also figured I'd be able to use .lua outside of school instead of learning basic on the TI calculators and having to return them.

tl;dr: dis app es fakin good

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2016-03-20, version 1.3.7*

I made a calculator and it wurks + this is amazing
