This app is by far the best app I’ve ever come across throughout my education… ever… from undergrad until now. Every time of resident, med student, and fellow could use this app (and attendings needing refreshers). Great for PAs/NPs who do a lot of procedures or ones in school. It has something for every specialty too, step by step, with 3D moving images to facilitate better recall and understanding. Very detailed and descriptive. Things I might suggest for developers would be adding more surgeries to specific specialities because some have very few. As well as possibly adding something like a dictionary for beginners (as things like google are not always reliable). And offline support would also be really handy for me and lots of other people. Overall best surgical app I’ve used. It’s good to strike down boredom with something that’s actually fulfilling. 10/10 would recommend this game!! 👍 ### 4/5 — Good app but a few things that they could work on *2022-06-08* I really enjoy playing on this app. They have surgeries that you can preform. There are a lot of specialties that you can do surgeries for. But for those of you who want to be a ophthalmologist like me I will warn you, they only have 2 surgeries. To the developers: I would love it if you would add more eye surgeries. I am studying to be a pediatric ophthalmologist. So please add more pediatric eye surgeries. You can fix this by deleting and re-installing the application. The most common cause of this is the database in the app getting into a bad state. This is a common problem if you don't have much spare storage space left on your device. We are working on removing our database for a simpler, more stable storage solution. If you encounter any further issues, please email rs.dsiossupport@medtronic.com and we will get back to you. ### 1/5 — Medical racism *2021-04-27* I would rate this app as quite good if it wasn’t teaching medical racism. As it is I would rate it 1 star if I could. The issue is that all (or almost all I haven’t done every single surgery on the app but close to, at least 95%) of the patients are light-skinned. It doesn’t tell you how rashes or other things to look for on a patient’s skin look on darker skin than the lesson shows. Black people on average have much worse prognosis than white people do when diagnosed with skin cancer, because the cancer is on average is detected at a much more advanced stage due to medical professionals not knowing what to look for to detect skin cancer in more melanated skin than white people. This is one example of a systemic problem which is killing BIPOC. A systemic problem which this app encourages. Every lesson should offer a diversity of body types, skin colours, and disabilities. There should be examples of what things look like on all variations of skin colour. This way doctors will actually learn how to treat humans, not just a small portion of people who look one way. In addition, despite the fact that doctors treat people with varying pre-existing disabilities and health issues, the app never provides any information on how your course of action may differ if someone had medical issues beyond the 1 you are treating. This is crucial knowledge that is just left out of the information taught on this app. It also doesn’t provide information to help clinicians build empathy and if anything encourages them to see the patient as nothing but a collection of numbers. Nearly all patients are male and no information is presented in how symptoms may present differently in female patients. Also all patients are cisgender (not transgender). Correcting these issues is essential. In addition further investigation into how these issues even occurred is necessary. ### 1/5 — App crashes *2021-04-13, version 6.35* App keeps crashing and is currently unusable.
